FTPL is a 501©3 non-porofit organization that has been promoting & supporting the Troy Public Library for over 50 years.
History
Established in 1962.
The Friends of the TPL have been actively promoting and supporting the Troy Public Library for over 50 years! Starting in the late1950’s, the grass roots group advocated for a library in Troy. In 1962 the Friends held the first book sale which provided seed money for the initial library book collection.
Income generated from book sales support all the library programs such as the Summer Reading program for children and adults and the Job Seeker program series. Friends also fund special projects like the 1984 library expansion, the Special Needs Collection, the Tech Farm for preschoolers, computers and software for youth services and, most recently, the purchase of a state of the art AV system for the meeting room.
The Friends are an all volunteer, non-profit, award-winning organization with a long standing tradition of making significant contributions to the Troy Public Library and the Troy community. Join us!
