We are a locally run business with beautiful cabins available for nightly lodging. Located at the base of Mt Adams, which towers 12,500 feet overhead, in the unique and quaint little town of Trout Lake, guests can enjoy unlimited opportunities for outdoor activities and adventures as well as rest and relaxation away from it all. Trout Lake is surrounded by some of the most beautiful backcountry areas in the whole northwest

History

Established in 2011.

Trout Lake Cozy Cabins was designed to provide guests in the area a nightly lodging option with the benefit of increased privacy, greater comfort, and a more unique experience than hotels can offer. Prior to Cozy Cabins, guests enjoyed what was then known as «Serenity’s» with the same lodging options and a restaurant (since closed).

Business Owner

We are both very fun loving people who live a very active lifestyle and enjoy spending time with family and friends. The great outdoors is where we like to spend most of our time mountain biking, hiking, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling, and exploring among many other things.

Trout Lake is a very beautiful place and is unrivaled (in our opinion) for people looking to get away from it all. We are very excited about our cabin venture and look forward to meeting many new people who we can share this wonderful place with.

We picked up our stay here as a Living Social deal, so really had no idea what we were getting into from a drive-​time perspective (we live in the Seattle area). But after fighting our way through Friday afternoon traffic (which the proprietor very kindly warned us about when we called to make our reservation), we were delighted to find ourselves in a corner of the state we’d never explored before.
Trout Lake itself is a tiny little place. Beautiful, and on the February weekend we visited, serenely quiet beneath white snows and a deep blue sky, but if you happen to come when the weather is bad or if you’re a person who requires a lot of stimulation, you should probably plan to bring your own entertainment.
The cabins (we stayed in #3) are aptly named. Snugly (but comfortably) proportioned, heated with a gas fireplace, and well equipped with warm comforters and spare blankets for lounging around under, the term «cozy» has never been more appropriately applied. We found the facilities clean and more than adequate for our needs, although there are some elements here and there that could use an upgrade.
The location is a little ways outside of town (too far to walk, at least in the winter), but it’s a nice wooded site, and the owners have done a good job setting things up so you get at least partial views of Mt Adams from each cabin. The cabins are set just back off of the main highway into town, which I was a little concerned about from a noise perspective until we realized that only a few cars per hour come through. It’s also worth noting that the cabins about 100 yards from the parking area. This is great once you’ve unloaded the car, because you feel as though you are looking out on nature, not a parking lot. Still, this does present the interesting challenge of shuttling coolers, suitcases and so on over an icy path in the dark. We had brought YakTrax with us and were very glad to have them after we watched another patron fall pretty hard on the walkway leading to their cabin.

We stayed here during Christmas, renting 1 cabin for the 3 of us. I would say overall the stay was fine, but there were a few things that leave me with a pretty bad taste. The major issue was when we first arrived the power went out. There was no on on site to talk to, but a phone that after trying to call 4 – 5 times no one picked up. I went ahead and found the breaker (which was located on the outside of the building, pretty sure that doesnt meet code!) and got things back on. In that time, the exhaust fan was off, leaving the place with a very gassy smell from the propane furnace and water heater. This is obviously not safe!
The owners eventually called back to discuss the issue (power out). While the power being out wouldnt always be a big deal, when there is 3 feet of snow out and its below 40 degrees F, there is an issue! I explained the issue to the owner and he responded by saying there wasnt much he could do since it was Christmas Eve. I explained that the place had filled with gas and that I was worried this might happen in our sleep. He said we should crack a window to be safe (really, when temps are getting down to the 20s?).
Being that we were so far from home at this point, the option of going elsewhere wasnt really there.
The other issue was no internet. Not a huge deal, but we had planned on using it for music and movies at night. Apparently the Wifi had broke earlier in the week, but we were not notified. It was not being fixed for a week.
Beyond those 2 things, the ability cook was minimal. Maybe just an aside that I wasnt aware of.
In general, the location is great. There is tons to do around there, and it really is beautiful. There was plenty of room for us to stretch out… But when it comes to how the gas issue was handled, I was not happy. I get that Christmas is a hard time to get someone out to fix things, but there is some issue at that cabin that could lead to a very dangerous or deadly situation. Beware!

Great little cabins, we really enjoyed our stay. The cabin was clean and had great linens! I loved the down duvet and heavy quilt. Very cozy, although the gas fireplace kept us plenty warm. The kitchenette had the essentials for basic cooking and the bathroom was huge. The towels were soft and the jetted tub rocked! We stayed in cabin #4, the pines which contrary to the website isn’t really more secluded, it is the 4th cabin from the road, but it was fine, nice place to get away without roughing it. Improvements I’d like to see are as follows
1. Plush bathrobes
2. Real plug for tub
3. Nicer table and chairs
4. Rug for in front of the fireplace
5. Timer for coffeemaker
6. I recommend they remove the air conditioners for the winter and re install in summer, cold air and some road noise came through that window.
We would stay again for sure! Lots of nature to explore here! So beautiful!

This is our second time coming back for a few nights. All the cabins have a unique feature or look to them. The cabins have a great deck to sit out on. It is a nice place to stay if you want to be near Hood River but want some peace and quiet. They staff is really nice and they also have movies you can rent. Only minor hiccup was wi fi would go down on occasion.

Cozy cabins was very cozy. We spent our 35th wedding anniversary here and couldn’t have been happier it was quiet and very clean. We had to switch cabins from cabin three to cabin one. It was fine and the manager was very accommodating. I hope we can come back again… This has definately been one of the highlights of our trip… Thank you to Brock and thank you to Jody!

What a wonderful surprise! We were passing through the area looking for a place to spend the night, we by chance stumbled on the Cozy Cabins. The price was comparable with your average hotel room, but the cabin was as unlike a hotel room as possible. It felt as if we were staying in someone’s home. Lots of nice little amenities including a Jacuzzi tub, and better quality sheets on the bed. Very comfortable and quiet.
