I have eaten in the dining room a few times for lunch and food was always good. The lunch specials are a good deal and the portions are decent. I picked up a grilled chicken ceasar salad from the pizzeria side recently for lunch. The chicken was straight up nasty. Not just one piece but 75% of it. I can’t believe someone would actually give that to a customer. I lost my appetite and won’t be back.

I dined here with my mom tonight. First time for the both of us. Two orders of eggplant rollitinis, mussels marinara and shrimp scampi. It was really good… I had to add more seasoning though. I ask the waiter for the dry bread dip spice and sprinkled it over my dishes. Yumm. I regret not trying the pizza and crab cakes after, just now, reading the reviews.

This restaurant used to have amazing food and good staff. My most recent experience had neither. Seafood risotto… tons of oil on rubbery risotto, broken shells that I crunched on, salty and basically inedible. The rest of my party all had issues and the staff/management are split on whether or not they want feedback if it isn’t glowing. We said something and it wasn’t received well by on-site management. We were able to speak to someone who wasn’t there for the fiasco and they were SO kind and provided a gift card for us to come back and try again. I have been going there for at least 15 years(I know because I went there when I was pregnant with my son and he’s 14+) and I have noticed changes… lower quality food, less flavor, more salt and oil, hit or miss. I love the restaurant they used to be and some of their dishes are really very good but you have to be careful and if you say something to on site staff… well, I’m afraid they’d spit in my food if I said something they didn’t like. I’m on the fence about using the gift card but the manager went out of his way and was kind and understanding. We’ll see. If I go back I’ll follow up.

(This review is for restaurant, not pizza shop next door) Family owned with consistently great food made with love. Nice, big salads as well! I have been going here for years, and I have found they have always had wonderful service and authentic delicious food.

The service was great, but our food left a lot to be desired. I ordered the stuffed flounder. The fish was a bit overcooked, the spinach was way too garlicky(and I don’t say that often!), and the dish didn’t really come together. My husband’s food wasn’t particularly satisfying, either. We really wanted to like Villa Rosa, but we probably won’t be returning. :(

Consistent with other Unilocalers, I would love to give Villa Rosa a better rating because the staff is so gracious. But, as we all know, a gracious staff does not compensate for subpar food. Food: My husband ordered the veal parmigiana. His words, not mine, «the knife is barely able to cut through it» and«the sauce is eh for an Italian restaurant». I ordered the Antipasto Salad which was okay and garnered the second star. For my entrée I ordered their Fettuccine Carbonara which was eh(very salty and oily). Disclaimer: We didn’t try the pizza.

If you are looking for the best BYOB around look no more !!! This family run restaurant is simply amazing. I had my wife’s surprise birthday party here in their back room was perfect. The wait staff was amazing, and the food is first class. The menu has a nice selection of traditional dishes some unique things that u wouldn’t find anywhere else. When you do go, do not leave without ordering the crab cakes!!! They are AMAZING!!!

As a foodie and fitness/health fanatic, it is difficult to find a place that has spectacular food that is also healthy. Everything I have tried at Villa Rosa is delicious and makes me miss being in Italy. From pizza to pasta, and from soups to salads, VR delivers. Not only is the food top notch, the service from this great family exceeds expectations as well. I can’t wait to go back… thanks, Villa Rosa!!!

I’ve only ever been to the restaurant side; but from what I’ve heard… that’s for the best. Every time there is a Living Social for this place, we get one. It’s always completely dead, two other tables max. We’ve been here twice and have been happy both times. Fried calamari appetizer was good enough for a repeat order at our second visit; as well as the seafood bisque soup. My first time here I ordered the Stuffed Flounder(with crab meat, scallops in a white wine sauce). At the looks of it; it honestly looked like a frozen dinner that my grandmother used to get at her nursing home BUT after one bite, I realized I was sorely mistaken. It was fresh, rich in flavor, and delicious. My boyfriend ordered the Chicken Parm and was satisfied. Not the best(that’s reserved for his mother’s home cooking)– so probably not even second or third best; but by far not the worse. Our second visit I ordered the Salmon with a crab meat crust. For being such a small local Italian place, I was again impressed with the quality of their seafood. The BF ordered something off the specials menu and for the life of me I can’t remember what it is; but I do remember him bringing home leftovers(which is very rare for him because if something is not ‘good enough’ for him to finish– he usually just leaves the rest for the bus boys). Which, in my opinion, says a lot about the quality AND quantity of this place. I do see why this place runs the living social promotions every month; and as long as they do, we’ll keep coming back.

I really want to like this place, and I hope to have to update my review once I actually have a meal here instead of pizza, BUT as for their pizza and calzone… they sucked. I feel a little guilty even writing this review because the staff was so extremely helpful, but they really need to do something about their pizza dough. Thankfully they seem to have a great marketing team, great social media coverage, and awesome weekly specials like $ 1 slices after 8PM, $ 5 Tapas Tuesday and so on. So I hope that I can get back soon and I get wooed by their Italian dishes.

What an unbelievable place! A true old fashioned, family run Italian places that speaks to old Brooklyn! My daughter and I went with friends during a recent lacrosse tournament in the area. Great service, the soups(pasta a fagioli, lentil and chicken noodle) were amazing, the bread with oil was so good that the 214 year olds nearly gave up their«lacrosse careers» to bus tables in exchange for bread! The prices for the Saturday specials were shocking as the food was phenomenal. So cheap for such good fare! I encourage all to go… especially those who travel for sports as this is a huge improvement from the normal«Fridays or Pub» food we parents get sucked into.

I had the square pie tonight and it brought me back to my days in Brooklyn!!! I can’t wait to go back and try some pasta dishes off the menu. Nice people and very clean place. I was greeted with smiles had 2 square slices there then asked for a whole pie to go.

Went for lunch. No wait. Garlic knots were ok. Chicken parm was over cooked. Lobster ravioli was delicious.

Villa Rosa used to be my favorite place to go for pizza or a sit down good old fashion Italian meal. Then the kids took over… The pizza, has no flavor, it sucks. My favorite pasta meal when mom and pop ran the restaurant was their pasta contidina, absolutely delicious! Now, it is no longer on the menu and if you ask them to make it, they don’t know how. Sad… So sad.

Pizza is pretty good with big selection. I’m a pepperoni guy and I don’t order it there because they don’t make pepperoni pies for slices. They slap some roni on a plain slice and heat it up. Not the same people!

Text book definition of a ok. I had a chicken stromboli. It was ok. It was cold to the point where the cheese was still hard but being that I cut into it already I didn’t make a big fuss and just ate it. Think rays of NY except in a strip mall in NJ. Good place to go if you’re in a rush.

The pizza is still tops — get a pie with fresh garlic, it’s the BEST As for the traditional food in the restaurant section… honestly, a barely passable imitation of italian food. I had veal parm(my favorite!), and the veal was dry and tough. Marinara sauce had a weird flavor that was slightly offputting. Uncle’s mac and cheese was good but nothing I couldn’t make at home. My tip: stick to pizza here.

Comfy place. Old-style service, decent and unobtrusive. Smoothly accommodated an infant in seating. Forgot the«No mushrooms, please.» Just OK food, appropriately priced. Old minestrone soup, its vegetables and pasta on the cusp of disintegration. Food 6 + atmosphere 5 + value 5 + service 7 = overall 5.7 /10(decent)
