The Omelette Shoppe

Enjoyed brunch at the Omelette Shoppe on Wednesday, June 22. They delivered just what you’d expect, good breakfast food. Large servings could easily be split. Our sweet server, Larissa, was very fast and very good with refills and separate checks and such. It is busy and the space is small, so there could be a short wait for seating. There are a few extra tables outside during the summer. The veggie skillet, cinnamon roll and bananas foster French toast seemed to be the most favored items at our table. Everything was hot and fresh.

I would like to thank the server when I came in for breakfast on June 21^st. She was all smiles and provided EXCELLENT service. Great breakfast spot! I have lived in Traverse City for a while now and never been there. All of the servers who helped each other out and I heard a «Thank You» from each of them, I would recommend this place 100%!!!

I wish we could give them MORE stars! Excellent service. Good coffee. (You can get a French Press to yourself.) Small dining area, but still somehow very comfortable and not cramped or hot. Eggs Benedict was the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly poached eggs, thick piece of Canadian bacon, and nice fluffy English muffins. The hollandaise was delicious and obviously homemade. The biscuits and gravy were also perfect. Flavorful gravy, fluffy biscuits, and the hash browns and eggs were also very good. The star of the show: Cinnamon Roll French Toast. Are there words??? Sweet, but not too sweet. Fluffy, rich, cinnamon roll, custard dipped, and served with whipped butter and LOVE. It was divine. Just delicious.

Great breakfast and friendly staff. We were in town for the weekend and looking for a quick breakfast spot. My husband said they have some of the best pancakes he has had!

Good breakfast. The pancakes seemed like they were soaked in butter. The egg scramble was decent. Biscuits and gravy were good, but I tend to like more peppery gravy. I like that they offer organic teas and French press coffee. A bit loud inside.

This location is a little old but service is still tops. Parking can be a issue on the wrong days. Holly has waited on us the past two years and she is polite and friendly. Food is still okay. Nothing too fancy or un pronounceable. Not a tourist trap at all. If you want upscale there are other restaurants to go to. And we have gone to them also. Bread is very good and cinnamon rolls are very large. We have never been disappointed here. We know what to expect and get it. There is a larger location east of downtown but that one gets very noisy on weekends.

Used to be fabulously great breakfast years ago, but how they have fallen! Service is still great but food went flush into the john. Do not try any item with sausage. Very soon you will be feeling the uncomfortable aftereffects. Was not kidding about «flushing». Add the hassle of downtown parking. Place is not worth it anymore.

Great service! Amazing food! Had the Maryland Omlette. It’s about $ 13, but WELL WORTH IT! Fresh and amazingly delicious. The New Mexican has a great kick to it! Shredded beef, green chilies, cheese, and jalapeño !

As we went wine tasting later that day, we mentioned to a local that we’d eaten at The Omelette Shoppe for brunch. He chuckled and said, «Tourist trap.» He’s right.
The Omelette Shoppe is a run-​down breakfast option that’s really disappointing.
My girlfriend ordered an omelette with blue cheese and onions. When she got it, she picked through it to find no cheesy crumbles and no visible onions. We asked our server and she checked with the kitchen. «We’re out of blue cheese,» she said. «They gave you all that was left.» To try to make up for it, the waitress came back with a bowl of shredded cheddar and placed it on the table. Huh?
I ordered the cinnamon roll french toast. It tasted pretty dry.
Prices were wayyyyy too high for what we ate.
For a superior brunch option, hit up Patisserie Amie and Chez Peres at 237 Lake.

Fantastic lunch! We went here thinking about getting something from the breakfast side of the menu, but were intrigued by the sandwiches. I got the club, which was not the usual interpretation, and it was delicious! The turkey was so juicy if was like they had a fresh roasted one right out of the oven that they cut it off. The tomato soup was also really good, not at all what we’d expected. My better half got the crab salad and it was also amazing (so much so that she said she’d be OK with it for lunch again).
The space is cozy and the service is very attentive. This will definitely be a stop next time we’re in town.

This restaurant unfortunately as much as I wanted to like it was not one that I would recommend nor would I return to. Though the service and prices were ok, the atmosphere and the food are really quite distasteful.
The restaurant felt cramped and did not look nor feel clean, which concerned me about the cleanliness of the kitchen in the back. It’s an older place and it certainly felt old and dated and dirty.
The food itself was not good. I had a quiche with salmon during my latest visit and it was quite subpar. The salmon was dry, the dish was lukewarm and quite forgettable in general. I had an omelette on my second visit and it was ok, but certainly nothing special. Plating was boring and lazy.
Honestly, the gloomy atmosphere probably impacted my overall perception of the food and its quality. However, even if that is the case the food still just doesn’t compare to the brunch restaurant a block down and across the street. I don’t enjoy writing negative reviews but felt compelled to given that this restaurant is rated comparably to said brunch restaurant down the block and across the street and that’s just wrong in my opinion. This is a 2 star restaurant — 3 at best. The food just isn’t very good and the atmosphere is depressing. They would need to renovate the interior and improve the food quality to make it worthy of returning again.

Was in town for the Traverse City Film Festival, walked by this gem and knew instantly we would be having our breakfast everyday here. Love, love, mom and pop shops and this certainly is one. Wish it were open late night, lol. A must visit if your craving a hometown greasy spoon with wonderful service.

Had an OK experience at the Omelette Shoppe.
There was a long wait and we had a large group, which is all fine, but for some reason even though we told them we’re OK to split up our group, they insisted on seating us in adjacent tables. Not sure what they were thinking, but it made our wait longer than necessary.
The service was also quite slow — again I’m sure it was due to the big crowd.
I had some pancakes topped with strawberries and even filled with strawberry syrup. I probably should’ve anticipated it, but it was way too sweet. Tasted food from others I was with — the belgian was just OK. Hash brown was also just OK.

This is a great little restaurant. We came here about 10 AM on a Monday morning and there was no wait. They have 3 small tables outside and plenty of seating inside. The booths inside are a little small and I didn’t see any tables.
Their menu has a decent number of selections. I decided to go with the southwest breakfast burrito. The presentation was really nice, above and beyond what I had expected. It tasted good, there was lot’s of eggs in it as expected and it took over the flavor somewhat and I would have liked some more spice in it but it was one of the better breakfast burrito’s I’ve had outside of the South.
The coffee was just OK and it would have been nice if they had real half/​half or cream instead of the pre-​packaged coffee creamers.
The service was good, they became busy after we came so the service was a little slow but they kept check on us, making sure we had our drinks refilled and we knew when the food was about to come.

We wanted a nice breakfast outside for our last morning up north, so we gave this a try. They were pretty busy, but we were lucky and got a table outside right away.

You can make your own omelette… I had one with smoked salmon and Boursin cheese… it was quite tasty! My wife had a sandwich that she really enjoyed too! Definitely a great place to enjoy breakfast when in TC!

This place is amazing for a variety of reasons:
Food: My sausage and gravy omelette was fantastic — love how they put the hashbrowns under the omelette so I could get all of the flavors in one easy bite. It was almost too much food, but I managed to finish it all. The raisin bread toast was super thick and came with ICING on it – definitely don’t have this back home. My husband loved his meat lovers omelette and the kids enjoyed their blueberry pancakes (this wasn’t on the kids menu but we ordered them a full adult order to split).
Service: Our server was quick and really nice. The kids got bags of animal crackers to nibble on while they waited. When the server brought out my husband’s slightly overcooked omelette (it was a bit blackened on top), she immediately asked him if he wanted it redone. He declined and liked it as is.
Three adult meals cost us less than $ 30. Portions sizes were generous. The one possible downside (which if you are aware of this ahead of time, you can plan accordingly) is that it’s a small place and the space between tables is small. Our son’s high chair made the walkway tight. If you plan on going on a crowded weekend, this could be a bit problematic but if you go on a weekday like us, it shouldn’t be a problem.
Can’t wait to return to TC next year so we can eat there again!

The food was excellent and the staff was extremely friendly. Hit this place up when I was craving a good breakfast. I ordered the buttermilk pancakes with over easy eggs and a side of toast. The bacon came out extra crispy (which is the way that I love it). The waitress was nice enough to ask if I wanted new bacon bacon that wasn’t as crispy… but again it was the way that I like it, the thought was appreciated.
The sourdough bread was soft, fresh and lightly buttered. The meal came with two pancakes which were a little thin but we’re nicely balanced with the light runny eggs.
Great experience and would definitely come back!

Don’t order the coffee because even with the flavored creamers it was awful! But the omelette and egg scramble made up for it. Hubby had the Maryland omelette with lump crabmeat and asparagus and I ordered the More Meat Scramble. The pancakes were light and fluffy and the redskin potatoes were a little greasy but hubby’s toast was an unexpected treat with perfect strawberry jam.

I had heard great things about the Omelette Shoppe, so my friend and I decided to eat brunch here on Memorial Day. The place was pretty packed and we had to wait around 25 minutes to get seated, but it was SO worth it. We decided to split one egg white California Veggie omelette with hash browns and the Berry Bliss French toast. The food came fairly fast, which was great considering how hungry we were.
Now to the food… the French toast was such a treat to the eyes– it was two thick, soft pieces of French toast drizzled with two types of berry sauce and a white sauce that tasted like cinnabon frosting. It was SO GOOD, I could use some more right now. The omelette was also pretty good– it was a healthier addition to our sugar-​loaded brunch. The hash browns could have been crispier, but they weren’t too bad.
Would I come back? YES, for that French toast– yes yes yes!
