This has really gone downhill over the last 10 to 15 years. It was great when it was Mr. STEAK. As soon as the owners got old and sold it recently, the food quality has gotten atrocious. The sad part was all I had was soup and salad. It wasn’t good. The food was honestly barely edible.

My husband and I stopped here while on honeymoon. We were greeted by a charismatic waitress once we got to our table. We were happy with our service, the food was very good and the cocktails were made well. The manager was even active on the floor greeting patrons and making sure they were happy and their meals were up to par. When we left, we passed 4 other servers, each of whom smiled at us and wished us a good night. We were very pleased with the atmosphere at the restaurant. We will definitely return.

As opposed to a few earlier guest, we were please with both, food as well as service: For USD38 we got the two identical menus consisting of broasted chicken with meshed potatoes and a small carrots and cabagge salad, as well as a glass of good Cabernet(not from the«house wine» list). We refrained from the good-looking desserts.

Terrible service, food is just mediocre and restaurant itself looks and feels like an old Frischs. Would not recommend at all!

Service was very poor, which was particularly odd for a Saturday night and VERY few people in the restaurant. In fact, my son even started timing the amount of time it took our food to arrive(I.e., burger, soup/salad, and Rueben sandwich) — 17 minutes. Bread even needed to be replaced because there was mold on it. Food itself, other than that, was okay. However, the«chatty bartender» made it take forever to get our drinks(which happened to be ice water & a glass of wine), and so the overall experience will prevent this frequent traveler & his family to TC to take a pass!

I found out about this place in a tourist brochure and I decided to give it a try. Pretty regular American food menu with lot’s of options. I had a salad which was OK, their blue cheese dressing really made it good though. Most places are lazy and don’t put any effort into the dressing but this dressing was really good. I ordered the Delmonico(rib eye) steak and I asked it to be cooked medium. It was grilled perfectly. I also had veggies and a fully baked potato with it which was also really good. The service was better than expected, our server was entertaining and made sure we always had our drinks filled and that we didn’t miss anything and he was really fun to talk to.

Excellent home cooked food. Great salads, pulled pork and the Ruben is the best around. They have very attentive and friendly wait staff.

I tried the broccoli cheddar soup and Cobb salad. Both were pretty good. My gf loved the French onion soup. The service was excellent. One-star deduction for the MOST unripe avocado I have ever seen/tried to eat in my life. If I hadn’t actually tasted it, I would have sworn that it was one of those plastic display avocados. It’s disappointing that they would actually serve something so gross and inedible.

Good food. Good service. We come here often. I love the french onion soup. The salad bar is well stocked and fresh. I’ve never had a bad meal.

Excellent food and service… what more can you ask for? There is a main dining area and off to the back they have additional seating with a bar, booths, tables and an option to play Keno. They have homemade soup that is delicious and always loaded with a lot of ingredients. I loved the salad bar. I rarely choose the salad bar but this salad bar was loaded with a big variety and everything was fresh. I liked the fresh berries and melons. The prices are very fair. The #1 best and as far as I am concerned real reason for going to Schelde’s …THEBREAD! OMG! If they ask«Would you like bread with your meal?» SHOUT, YES! The best loaf of bread on earth. Warm, fresh, toasty on top and soft in the middle.

Consistency is a word used to describe this place by all I have met. The staff, atmosphere, amazing flavor and price are all very consistent. Mike and Buie do a great job making sure everything is perfect. Their French Onion soup is out of this world, along with their excellent salad bar. I typically get the Gyro or my new favorite, the Drunken Chicken Wrap, which was recommended to me by one of the awesome waiters. Will continue to eat here for a long time.

Very solid eatery in Traverse City. For a chain, I really like the food. On this trip I had some French onion soup. Delicious! And I had the broasted chicken for an entrée. I hadn’t had broasted chicken in several years and it was as good as I remembered. The redskin mashed potatoes with gravey were easily forgettable: luke warm and pasty. But the Cole slaw was snappy and the warm bread comforting. My wife had a coconut shrimp salad that she had had here before and likes a lot. She also had a tropical martini that she said was very flavorful and good. I stuck with the diet Coke. We split a small hot fudge sundae for dessert. Good! We will come back!

Had dinner here this past week. Service was great. Food okay. Went with the prime rib. Supposedly has their special seasoning. Even with the au jus, not much flavor. Came with green beans which seemed a tad oily. Some kids at the table got the mini sliders and didn’t seem that interested in them. Salad bar has good selection including mini muffins. If I recall correctly, dressings weren’t labeled which I always find annoying when there are several non-obvious choices. Would go back and try something else.

The waiter was great. We had a steak quesadilla and it was very good and a large portion. We also has the steak noodle soup which was very good along with the chicken pasta. The pasta was a large portion and very good. Tomato cream sauce, fresh spinach, artichokes, mushrooms and tender grilled chicken. The salad bar was average at best. The restrooms were clean.

Service and food are great! The staff knows what they’re doing and is very knowledgeable. I used to come here for brunch when I was little ALLTHETIME. Since then, I kind of forgot about it. But, it’s been remodeled and looks great! The prices are great too. Go grab a steak, you won’t regret it!

Best Bartender Award! Not only the friendliest, but ran after me to give me my iPad which I left behind. Will be back for the food as a result.

Review is for the breakfast buffet only! I haven’t had anything else here. GREAT buffet! Really fancy — smoked salmon, two kinds of eggs plus eggs benedict, WAFFLESTATION, biscuits and gravy and the other usual stuff. There is a salad bar available, but for an extra charge. The whole thing was only $ 10.99 per adult — which is really reasonable for such high quality on a holiday weekend. TOTALLY recommend and we’ll be back next time we’re up there!
