Grand Traverse Motel

I had to spend the night at this motel while my house got fumigated, and I adored this quaint ‘mom & pop’ motel. WiFi is fast, TV worked, warm water, AC and Heat worked wonders. Front Desk attendants seemed more than eager to welcome me. Loved my stay here.

We are staying three nites this time and think this is a very serviceable motel and at the lower end of the price range.

One of the only available places to stay after the big storms came through, so we didn’t really care at that point, but it wasn’t bad at all! Clean sheets is a must for me, and they were. Nice little fridge for our necessities, decent coffee to make in the morning. Nothing fancy, but no bugs or anything creepy ;) Just simple, well kept. Nice and friendly front desk staff. Thankfully had a blow dryer I could borrow!

For starters they need to update their exterior photo. This does not look like the Grand Traverse Motel we stayed at. Maybe it looked like this years ago, but not now. Do not stay here. Just drive by, even at only $ 140.00 you will regret it. Loud activity all night long. My husband had to keep checking to make sure our car was still there, it was a rowdy group. So much cigarette smoke filtering under the door and through the vents and we had to sign a form not to smoke in the room. If I could give a 0 star I would!!! We called got a quote from them for 479.52 and gave them our credit card to hold the two rooms. 4 hours later they call us and tell us they are now charging us 900.00 for the rooms!!! When we said we wanted to cancel they hung up on us and threw our credit card number I the trash. The front desk guy when we called back after he hung up on us said he threw our reservation in the trash. When we told him we did not want our credit card info in the trash he retorted that he will take it and burn in the front lawn. RUDE!!! I will never give these extortionist money!

Needed a port in a literal storm and this place did just fine. Clean and spacious room, accommodating staff, and close to downtown Traverse City, just in case this storm passes and I can take in some nightlife. Am sure that I will return.

Good location, only a quarter mile or so from downtown. However I felt it was overpriced. I guess for TC it was cheap at about $ 140/​night after tax. It is a no frills, minimal amenity place to stay. But for location and relative cost to the other hotels in the area, this is worth consideration.

I drove into this motel while on a visit to Traverse. The lady at the desk was very pleasant and helpful. I arrived rather late so I just pretty much went to bed. In the morning when I went to shower and peeled back the shower curtain, there was a bloody wash cloth laying in the corner with a few smears on the bath stall. Disgusting to say the least! I immediately went to the front desk only to find a sign stating the office was closed until 1030! I needed to leave early so the note said to leave the key in the room but I added a note about the bathroom (I wouldn’t want them to think it was me that made that mess). They advertise clean rooms but an oversight most definitely and I began to wonder just how clean the rest of the room was. It was too bad that the office was closed as I would of liked them to have the chance to make things right. My review is based on what happened without letting them address the problem while I was there. Regardless they should have the rooms well checked by the cleaning staff prior to making the room available for guests. How that was missed, I have no idea. I would also say that the previous guest could of at least informed them they had an accident or something. I also should of checked the entire room before settling in. Believe me, I do now!
