Inconsistent food and service. Prefer to dine in as take out is less than desirable(sushi warm, no wasabi, no soup or salad with bento box). Will probably give it another shot at some point.

This place is a hit or miss. The very first time I went it was good. Then after coming back a few times everytime I came it just went down hill from there. One service is horrible, two sushi the first time was a huge amount of food. Other times we came back sushi was a small portion.. Three water is so so nasty ! When I tell them that all they say is. Well it’s Tracy water. Well shit if you kno water is that nasty get a water filter ! Serving nasty water to their customers ! You should be a shame.

Well, as much as I love the food at Mikasa, I’m getting a little frustrated at their service and timing on food delivery – again. The last few times we’ve gone here all the orders come out at very different times, like 10 to 15 minutes apart and sometimes we felt like we were inconveniencing THEM! And it’s awkward to be eating when your friends have no food in front of them for 10 – 15 minutes. And aren’t appetizers supposed to come out first? Ah, Yes! PLEASE Mikasa management, get your team together and deliver appetizers first, then soup and salad, then the meal, and all meals at the same time or within a few minutes of each other. That’s the way it’s supposed to be done… Well, it’s hard to, once again, post a less than positive review for Mikasa. I love this place. Food was great. But we had to wait 55 minutes for it – longest wait we’ve ever had there. I was so disappointed, not in the food but in the service and the owner’s repeated excuses about having new employees and being busy. Well, you don’t put new employees on the floor before they are trained. Common sense. So after being told about the new employees and being busy for I think the third time, I said«that’s not my problem.» I am always so un-confrontational. It’s just not me. But tonight pushed me to that point where I wasn’t keeping it inside any longer. Sorry Mikasa, but we probably warned at least 3 people of experience and they left within 10 minutes of being at an unattended bart or waiter/waitress to even start their evening. The owner, trying to please/compensate us, brought us some edamame. COLD no flavored Edamame. If you want to use food to appease me/keep me happy, bring me some spicy edamame or something that really shows me some effort. Cold flavorless edamame doesn’t do it for me:(. I’ll go to Matsuyama next time. They don’t make excuses and they actually seem to care about our experience. Plus, they are much closer. If I come back to your establishment at all, it will be a long time. Good luck.

This was my first time going to Mikasa’s. Food was great and my fiancé and I left feeling full. Service was quick and efficient; never had to ask for my drink refilled. Our food came out hot and fresh. My only comment would be that my fiancé’s food came out 8 minutes before mine. I had to wait a bit before I could start eating, but it was yummy nonetheless! Definitely coming back for more.

Mikasa what a wonderful name for a beautiful place very nice setting and ambience and I love the location right on my route to work on Valpico in Tracy in a very busy well to do area with a one stop shop I can go to Wells Fargo or Chase bank or the Raley’s grocery store or Starbucks, Gelato ice cream shop or even a dentist just to name a few, my friend and co worker wanted to meet here for lunch before she had to head into work so we went in and got seated right away I looked at the menu since I don’t eat sushi and never been here before my friend already knew what she wanted some twin sushi plate so I got a chicken with vegetable noodle plate we got our order really quick considering there was quite a few people there it seams to be a hot spot. My food was excellent and my friends plate looked like a piece of art I love the presentation of the sushi roll plate this is her favorite place to eat now I can see why I can’t wait to come back and try something new the menu looked amazing a lot of different choices to try

I think some of the rolls are good, but the sashimi plates are kind of gross. One time the sashimi was still semi-frozen. They looked like pink, square ice cubes. The slices are not cut correctly; they’re cut in a way where there are jagged edges and too big. And not to mention, they are not fresh. The salmon is good sometimes, but for some reason the tuna always looks grey in color and has a fishy taste. I never eat all of them which is a waste of money. I’m surprised I’ve never gotten food poisoning from the many times I ordered their sashimi plates. I always expect them to be better next time but they’re not living up to the standards. I think I’ll stick to ordering something else from now on.

This place was okay. nothing special. Food comes out quick which is a plus. The calamari was shocking cheap at only 5.99 but it was chewy and kinda cold. The gzoya was good and I would order again. The rainbow roll was huge and the fish was fresh, very good value for your money! The lion king was very disappointing. I’ve never had a lion king with neither masago eggs or spicy mayo on it. It was kinda bland and I probably wouldn’t get it from here again. Service was okay.

Mikasa has very friendly employees. We were greeted immediately upon entering the restaurant and seated within minutes. We ordered a Mikasa Sushi Roll for starters. The sushi is okay, nothing to rave about but it was fresh and tasty. We ordered a Chicken and Beef Teriyaki w/Tempura Bento box. The teriyaki beef and chicken was very tasty but the tempura wasn’t a traditional tempura. It was more like a fried prawn and was very greasy as were the pot stickers that was served with the bento box. Not the best that I’ve had, but not the worst… so I’m giving three stars for now!

It’s amazing there always busy but this is not a Japanese food. I am from Japan and I would like to see a real Japanese restaurant someday my life in Tracy. Tracy residence thinks Japanese food is some kind of rolls. Their sushi is terrible my opinion. Rice is very hard and taste not like sushi rice I know.

Tried this place twice and failed both times… Their fish is of low quality and not fresh… their nigiri and sashimis are a joke. I should have taken a picture of my food. It was like a two year old made it. I might as well have gone to the grocery store and made it myself. Cause it sure taste like I did. It was not good. I had to force myself to finish it. Last time I’m going here!

Worst sushi place in Tracy. If you like flavor, leave. I do not know why I keep going back expecting it to be better. The sashimi is improperly cut like they hired anyone to cut it, and when I told the waitress she rudely glared at me and said sorry followed up by three(free) more poorly cut pieces. Every roll falls apart to the touch, they do not use enough rice vinegar or just not use sushi grade rice at all. My Chirashi had regular white rice. Any half-wit knows that chirashis contain sushi rice. My brother went with his friends and ordered 6 rolls, waited patiently when only 5⁄6 were delivered. When same rude waitress/owner was notified, she screamed at them accusing them of somehow, «hiding a plate.» This is no way to act to customers no matter how old they are. The customer is always right. Simply disgusting(food and service). Source: Years of working in sushi business.

Love this place! There are several different rolls that I rotate between. The honey walnut shrimp roll, the volcano roll, and pretty much my number one go to the in and out roll. I think the service is hit or miss. Most of the time the service is OK but sometimes they kind of juggle you around with who’s helping you and it can be confusing. I don’t really have anything negative to say. I didn’t used to be huge on sushi and this became one of my favorite places. I’ve actually moved really far away now and can’t find anything out this way like Mikasa :( Now nothing compares in the way of sushi. I’ll be making a point to eat here every time I visit home. ((The one in Lathrop their employees can be stingy with the soy sauce when you get food to go! Not the one in Tracy))

I wish we had a good AYCE sushi place in Tracy, but this is the best sushi I’ve had since I moved out here. When I’m in the mood for a bento box with 6 pieces of sashimi and a super filling spicy tuna roll, I’ll totally come back! I couldn’t even finish the entire box because it was SO filling. I think it was a good value for 12.95. I only wish they had the option of reduced sodium soy sauce, and the soup was a bit less salty.

I’ve driven by here so many times and have wanted to try their food. Finally, tonight I was in the mood for some Japanese food. I stopped by my house and picked up my girls so we could all eat there. Some places I don’t mind ordering take out. But tonight, I knew I wanted to eat there. When we arrived, I was actually surprised at how large the restaurant actually is. They have, I’d say three different areas to sit. There are tables that go along the back/side of the building, then tables in the middle with the sushi bar in the middle and then a bar with more tables on the far side of the restaurant. We were seated right away at the tables closest to the bar. A waitress came over and took our drink order promptly. My daughters and I decided on: shrimp tempura for appetizers, teriyaki chicken with fried rice and my youngest daughter decided to get the deep fried california roll. The teriyaki chicken plates were served with salad and miso soup. I liked the salad, it had a light tasting peanut dressing. Miso soup was standard. The chicken teriyaki was good, but their fried rice was my favorite! It tasted fresh, just like when you go to hibachi and they cook it right in front of you. I tried my daughter’s california roll, it was really good too. With tax and tip, our dinner came to about $ 60. I could do without the shrimp tempura and my twins could have split the teriyaki dish. Overall, we had a good experience. The waitress was attentive and our food tasted good. I’m sure we’ll be back again soon.
