JF Design Service & Renovation

About a month ago my wife and I called JF Designs to get a quote to install a closet in our son’s bedroom and renovate our fire place mantel. During the conversation we began to discuss future renovations for our kitchen. He showed us some kitchens that he had done and started throwing out some great ideas for the kitchen. Before we knew it, we had decided to remodel the kitchen, the fireplace and get the interior paint done… completely forgetting about the closet.
It’s necessary to state that my wife and I lack the flair for home décor. James, however, oozes integrity, creativity and vision. If there was something that we wanted that did not work, he let us know. If we had an idea that was costly, he came up with a better, more cost efficient concept. We gave him the budget that we had to work with and he never pushed it, instead, he would provide other ideas. The more he spoke, the more excited we got. He gave us so many choices and ideas to pick from, that at times, it was overwhelming. He met with us several times and walked us through picking cabinets, counter top, flooring, backsplash, paint… etc… the list goes on. He made the whole experience fun and exciting for both of us. There were some things that my wife and I could not decide on b/​c we just couldn’t envision it, so we gave James creative license. We gave him free reign to pick out our pendant lights, our curtains, and designed the pattern in our backsplash based on the tiles we picked out which I might add, were two totally different styles and tiles. Additionally, we let him decide how to paint the interior of the house with the four colors that we picked… or rather, that he matched up together based on the kitchen design and the rest of the house décor.
On February 16^th we had everything picked out that we needed and it was time to decide when we would start. We informed James that we were leaving for vacation on the 20^th for 8 days. He said that he could have everything done while we were gone! Yes, everything, full kitchen remodel, full interior paint on a 2500 sqft, 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom, two story home! And let me tell you, he did not disappoint! On the 19^th, he came by and let us do some demolition on our kitchen. My three kids were thrilled to be able to destroy stuff.
Our vacation was in Disney World and we were more excited to come home and see the renovations! When we returned on Feb. 28^th, James met us there and introduced us to a whole new house! He went above and beyond what we asked for. Our home was a model home now!
Let me just tell you, James not only has a designer’s eye, he listens too. We walked in to our home and saw extra things done the he heard us say that we would do later. We discussed swapping our blinds for new ones, he did that for us. We had asked him to remove the light switches and outlets b/​c we would replace them later, but he did it with rockers, dimmers and some even have USB ports in them! He replaced the carpet in our living room, hallway and bedroom b/​c the original carpet made his kitchen ‘look bad’.(lol) He touched up the paint on our front door b/​c it was chipped by us, he laid the extra tile from the kitchen down in the downstairs bathroom b/​c it was the old linoleum, he put molding on our stair case b/​c it made it look better, he re-​caulked my showers and sinks, re-​screened the windows and he painted the back yard cement b/​c he knew that we hated the pink cement that the previous owners put in. He also added sensor lights under the cabinets so that when you walk by or wave a hand, a light turns on. He also put lighting around the bottom of the kitchen island which is operated by a remote control and changes to about 8 different colors. We all loooove everything he did! All of this was free. He did not charge us a single extra penny! Crazier still, he thanked us repeatedly for trusting him to make decisions and surprise us. He was genuinely happy to remodel our home and refused extra payment when we offered. I can tell you this much, when it’s time to remodel our bathroom, he will be our guy! Outstanding customer service and incredible knowledge. JF Designs made for the most incredible experience our family could’ve ever imagined!

If there is one word that I’d use to describe doing business with James Franchini from the first phone call until I *gladly* paid him his well earned balance of our contract, that word would be «outstanding». Everyone should do business like James. Note, this review will be in a referral letter that I give to him. It will have my contact information so that you can call me and I can answer any other additional questions you may have. He runs an outstanding business. My first ever remodeling experience didn’t go so hot. I’ve written those reviews. I don’t want to taint this review with that experience any more then I have to. I called James after 9 on a weeknight. I explained that I fired my current contractor and designer and I needed someone to come in and complete the next phase of my remodel. The master bedroom and bath. I expected to leave voice mail but he answered. Not only that he came over that night to have a look at the work. He also looked at the work I already had done and pointed out some issues that should’ve never happened because one was a code violation and the other wasn’t in the design plan. He knows his stuff. I, literally, show him some pics I downloaded off of Houzz and we met once after he found some materials to match what I was after. He also took the time to learn about the feel I was going for. The price he quoted me was very competitive. So much so, I had some concern about where I’d take the hit. Given my prior experience, if his quote was less than what I got from my old contractor. Surely, either quality would suffer or it would take forever. You can’t have everything, right? Wrong. I was so wrong. The *entire* experience was outstanding. I felt like I was on an HGTV show. His *entire* Team is outstanding. They are all professional with an apparent directive that Customer Service is the priority. They were fast. They cleaned up when they were done for the day. James did extra things that we didn’t even contract for to make it all work for me. Additionally, where we did have the inevitable delay, which was my fault, he made it right by doing some additional things to transform my house from a place I was living in while I was remodeling to my home. The pictures don’t do it justice. He will invite you to visit a site should you choose. I did. What I saw there was what I got. James makes sure you’re happy throughout the entire process and, again, his prices are competitive. Let me put it another way, do NOT look for another contractor or interior designer. Call JF Design Service. Pay him the deposit. Relax. Pay him the rest. Enjoy your new whatever you get done. He’s a man of his word and I look forward to hiring him again to knock out my kitchen and doing something awesome with my fireplace.
An update: I asked James to come back and design a kitchen, fireplace and back entry to my yard that incorporated French doors. Those amazing pictures are below BUT you should know he did ALL of it in 5 (yes, F-​I-​V-​E) days. In addition, he redid my garage and added a surround sound system for the TV above the fireplace. He, once again, went above and beyond the call of duty and created amazing spaces that I can’t believe are MY house. It’s like living in a suite. He’s a tremendous businessman and I am proud to call him my friend. Again, if you need a contractor/​designer, you are an idiot if you don’t pick him.

I have worked with James for about 2 years and I would recommend him to friends, family, and anyone who needs someone they can trust. His workers are clean, efficient, and very respectful of your home. I have seen the quality of his work first hand at several properties and he has a keen eye and is creative.
