I’m pretty surprised to see any negative reviews here. I have a Pomeranian that I recently adopted and he was sick and vomiting for 2 days. My regular vet couldn’t see him and recommended Pet+ER. I am so glad they did! The whole staff was so nice and caring. They truly did care about his well being. The doctor was very honest with me on what steps to take and even helped me save money by only doing what she had to at that time. He still showed a symptom after 2 days and I called to ask about it and they let me talk to the tech that handled him when we were in! (Vikki who is amazing) That was great! THEN, I got a phone call a few days later from them checking on him!!! They asked how he was doing, answered my questions, addressed my concerns etc. my normal vet doesn’t even do that! I am very comfortable taking my dog there and even though I hope nothing happens to him, I find comfort in knowing I can take him there and how well they will treat both of us. I highly recommend them in any pet emergency.

Very, Very, Very expensive… my dog was there for 15 hrs with Parvo. They charged us $ 1,300.00. Moved home to our Vet and was there for 3 days and only paid $ 1,700.00. The doctors there seemed like they did give a shit about your pet. Spoke to a doctor after my dog being there for 12 hrs and they couldn’t give my any information cause they hadn’t checked on him.

Last week, I had to admit my 11 week old puppy, Emma, to the hospital due to vomiting and lethargy. Even though I was a nervous wreck, the staff at Pet+ER made me feel comfortable.
When discussing our options, the vet was very up front with the cost and we chose to keep her overnight for observation. It turned out to be Parvo, which is a devastating diagnosis. They were up front and honest about the process, costs, and did a great job explaining the treatment. I received a call every 12 hours or so with an update and was able to call or visit any time for an update. Every time they called, I was given an updated estimate of cost and presented with my options.
After four days and three nights in the hospital, Emma came home healthy and happy. It was an expensive and high-​stress ordeal, but the care Emma received was second to none. I was thrilled with my experience there and while I hope to never have to rush a pet to emergency care again, I wouldn’t think twice about going to Pet+ER.

The staff here really did care about my baby boy Ziggy and made us feel extremely comfortable. My kitty was extremely weak and sick and at no charge they immediately knew to give him oxygen. The Vet at VCA in Columbia DID NOT DO A DAMN THING for my boy except tell me he would need meds and blood transfusions. Pet + ER gave me options and was not after my money. They actually cared about my kitty and helped me make a decision that I would not have been able to do without their love and support. I like this place because they know what they are doing and actually have a heart and aren’t just looking to take your money like most places. When you have a pet it is like your baby and now I know where to go. Thank you guys.

I wish I could give a negative review. A few years ago I came in with a very sick puppy. We just got him from the breeder maybe 2 weeks. He was throwing up a lot, so we brought him here. They made us wait in a room, he wouldn’t stop throwing up. Then they gave him some meds and said he was good to go home. He started defecating all over himself. I yelled for a doctor and they told me to calm down, that he would be fine. I wanted to leave and take him somewhere else but they told me I needed to pay right then, I said bill me and they said if I leave they would call the cops. So I paid $ 300 and left. They billed me a lot more after that. We took him to Falls Rd. He ended up passing because he had leptospirosis. If we would have taken him to Falls Rd he had a 80% chance of living. We went to Pet Er because it was closer. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. I’ve never seen someone so heartless.

I am extremely disappointed and upset with my recent visit to your location in Towson. Allow me start at the beginning… I was directed to bring Rufus to Pet ER immediately on Friday after taking his primary vet. I was concerned that he was not feeling well and after doing some fast blood work and an x-​ray the vet — told me that Rufus’ numbers for his pancreas were not good and he may be suffering from pancreatitis again. He had a bout with it in October of 2012 and we came to your location and received tremendous care, follow up and found your staff at that point in time to be extremely attentive, compassionate and responsive. None of those adjectives describe our latest visit with Rufus — just the opposite. When I arrived at approximately 5:40 on the 9^th — within 10 minutes I was shown to an examining room with Rufus where a tech took his temperature, checked his heart and asked me to explain what was going on. After explaining what I could observe during the day and that I was instructed to bring him immediately by my vet and that his blood work and x-​rays were handed over at the front desk when I arrived she said the vet would be with us shortly. It took 3 hours plus which they said they were sorry and couldn’t explain why… finally they got him on IVs and said we could call to check on him whenever and gave us cards of the attending vets. Saturday morning we called at 11am to check on him and were put on hold for about 10 minutes after various folks picked up and asked if we were being helped. Finally a tech picked up and said that Rufus was «stable» when I asked what that meant; she stammered so I asked could I please chat with the vet on duty. The vet wasn’t available but I was told she would call me back. She never did! At 2pm I called again and asked for her and she picked up, told me Rufus was «stable» and that they hoped to give him some food later. (I got off the phone and thought — oh that is good — giving food to a dog with pancreatitis??? He must be responding to the antibiotics). So at 9:30pm I called and The vet picked up the phone when I asked for an update on Rufus and she said she was just trying to reach us. She said they had to increase Rufus’ pain meds because he was having pain and she said his blood pressure low and they wanted to catheter him but they were going to give him something to help stabilize that. I asked to be called no matter what time with any changes. At 2am the Dr. called again to report that Rufus was struggling to maintain his blood pressure (it kept dropping and she wanted permission to do an ultrasound) which we gave. At 4pm she called again to tell us that there appeared to be fluid around his pancreas, liver, his heart was enlarged and that he appeared to have suffered a stroke because his pupils would not respond and she thought he would pass shortly. We instructed her that if he was suffering, please euthanize him. At 4:30 we were told he passed. We told her we wanted him cremated and would be up later in the morning to settle the bill. We returned to settle the bill and were told that Rufus would be back from cremation on Friday and we could select an urn. We selected an urn, paid our bill and were told to call the crematorium to pay for the urn with them which I did. And when they brought me his things — it wasn’t his blanket, they gave me another one — the color was his but when I got it home — that blanket wasn’t his either because it had cigarette burn holes in it — neither one of us smokes — so I still do not have «his» blanket. Today is my final straw… the cremation group called to tell me they hadn’t picked up Rufus because evidently someone at the Pet ER had put a «hold» tag on him. Now both Patrick and I took off Friday to pick him up so that we could drive him to his resting place on Saturday. Now the crematorium is going to pick him up tomorrow and have him returned Friday as a rush. Needless to say — after you read this I am sure you can understand my frustration and anger with some of your group. Not all. Most were very compassionate and understanding, including your front desk group and Mellissa who let me share this with her too. However, based on the treatment we received, I do not feel I should be paying for «emergency treatment from Friday evening into Saturday during the day up to 6pm» because frankly — it appears that a tech set Rufus up for IVs and the other vet never checked on him at all. How could she have and tell me at 2pm they were going to try to feed him later and at 9pm the vet told me «no, no». And finally — they lost my dog’s body and tried to send a «Cat» for cremation but I asked for a picture from the crematorium.

This is the most wonderful company! I don’t know why all the negative reviews but I can tell, being in the customer service field, that some of these people are probably just rude and will find fault in everything that doesn’t go exactly their way, like 2 year olds holding their breath until they get their way.
Anyway, this company treated me and my cat Felix with the utmost respect and kindness. We went there last night and again today for follow up. Both times, we were immediately taken back to triage and seen and then ushered into an exam room where both times, we waited less than 30 minutes for the doctor. Both Dr’s that we saw we both compassionate and kind and explained things to me and my husband that we could understand. Unfortunately, with what Felix has wrong with him, we cannot afford the treatment but they gave us an alternative that we could afford to make him comfortable and to pray for the best.
Each time, everyone there was very timely and very nice, professional, and compassionate and I thank them very much for the time they gave us. We were in and out fairly quickly each time we were there. Thank you, Pet ER! You should be proud of yourselves and the work you do there! God bless!

Everyone there is very communicative and helpful. Having high-​quality pet health care nearby at all times gives me a lot of confidence.

I brought my 10 week old dachshund puppy to the Towson pet+ER because she was not eating and becoming very lethargic (bad signs) and it was a weekend, so my local vet was closed. Without any tests they recommended she spend the night for close monitering. Being a new (worried) dog owner without any other options I allowed this. They claimed they took a multitude tests without finding any problem. They provided her with IV nutrition for two days, until Monday when they released her and said nothing was wrong, expect for she still would not eat. This great service cost 2,300 dollars. Still being worried I took my dog to her normal vet since it was a Monday now and within 20 minutes and a fecal test, they noticed she had a parasite. A few antibiotics and other medications latter she was fine.
In summation, thanks Pet+ER for nothing.

The management really needs to get their employees in check. As mentioned before, one of my dogs was here in March. The bill was something like $ 6,000. Everything was paid in full up front, at the time of service. That dog later died on the operating table of the vet practice that shares their building and reception. I don’t blame either practice for that incident, but he only died two months ago, so I don’t relish walking into that building. However, I had another dog fall ill on a Sunday night, so my husband brought him in. He paid $ 1800 at that time to keep him overnight. It was determined that he had a potentially fatal health problem and he was transferred to the vet practice. So, the next day, I went in to sign some paperwork to authorize the vet practice to perform the POTENTIALLY FATAL surgery and authorized a 3,000 payment for them, I was happy to get the heck out of there and wait for hopefully good news. As I was walking out, the pet ER staff started yelling and trying to flag me down. Oh, I still owed them $ 500 and they couldn’t take the chance of letting a person worry and grieve and, you know, get it when I came back after the surgery? Really compassionate. Of course, after I had just authorized a $ 3,000 payment, my bank was not going to allow my debit card to be charged another $ 500 without any questions. I wasn’t thinking about that because my dog was about to go into a POTENTIALLY FATAL surgery. Without a word, the employee went back to talk to his manager about how they could «help me out». He never asked for another card. I asked another employee to get him to I could give him another debit card and get out of there. She made the comment that she was «sure he’d be back as soon as he possibly can.» In a very condescending tone. My friend finally told them that my dog had died there two months ago and I was kind of in a hurry to leave before I had a panic attack. She went back to get the man, he ran my card, I was allowed to leave. He had the nerve to tell me to have a nice day, fully aware that my dog, again, was about to go into a surgery he might not come out of. Really, pet ER? I know you are a business and you need to get paid, but you need to temper that with some compassion, especially when the person had been fiscally responsible in the past. I’m sorry, I’m willing to pay thousands of dollars in treatment because I love my dog. If you can’t treat me with respect for that, you will lose my business. Next time, I’ll be using the Falls Rd vet.

Recently I took my Jack Russell, Charlie to then regarding a left back leg limp. The doctor was nice and patient, the facility was clean and best of all, the treatment was of reasonable cost. I had some issues with my check when it was time to pay (my bank didn’t open until 9 to authorize the «new» charge) so they let me pay within 2 days of day of treatment! I really love how they were the only care facility open that time that really cared for Charlie! I am, indeed a fan!

I will never ever be coming back here. For any middle income family in Maryland this place is not the place to go for help when your pet has an emergency. They are so about money only it’s crazy. Basically we care more about money then your pets. They made everything so hard to deal with basically the surgery my cat got was an estimate of 2,000 I don’t have 2 grand lying around. The client representative he’s tall and almost bald told me «Can you borrow it from someone»? Then told me oh well our best option here is either take him home in Pain or Euthanize him. I wanted to strangle this guy. I’ve never been to a place that is suppose to be pet friendly and is the opposite. They are only out for there money. My boyfriend had to apply for a credit line and that’s how we got the surgery done but me and my mother couldn’t do it. So if he wasn’t there I would of had to take my pet home and basically maybe him die or euthanize him. And then Vet wasn’t that nice either Marianne Alcan. PLEASE HEED MY WARNING GO TO BANFIELD OR SOMEPLACE ELSE!!! Do not GO HERE! They don’t care about you or your pets! They only care about there money and how your going to pay for your fur baby.

Do not take your pet here. Unless your animal literally has minutes to live wait to see your vet.
My cat was had his third eyelid out, my vet was closed and I was just worried. They tested his lungs which were fine but prescribed an antibiotic anyway. The medicine gave him TERRIBLE poops. I am paying more money for this issue than the original one. Not to mention everything is so expensive.
I get what they are there for but they prescribed me medicine after we waited 2 hours and the doctor examined my cat for 5 mins.
Never again.

We received great service here after our dog got into a fight. He was bleeding everywhere and they took him right in. They were very nice to me, because obviously I was a complete mess. Between the surgery to stitch him up and install his drainage tubes, and all follow up it was about $ 600. Sold.

I recently had to rush my dog to he Pet ER from Harrisburg because they were the only facility open that late at night that could provide him the emergency care he needed. He was suffering from a tumor on his spleen that was bleeding into his abdomen. Their FAST Scan found the tumor and bleeding where my vets X-​rays could not.
As soon as I entered I was happy we made the drive. Soon after entering the receptionist called for the triage team and a team of people rushed to the front to pick up my dog and I followed them to the ER in the back. There I met Dr. Kretchmer who cared for my dog in his final hours. Once they completed their tests and advised me of the severity/​risks/​odds/​costs I eventually determined that he shouldn’t be put through anymore pain (at 13yrs old).
They brought my dog into the private exam room I was waiting in and laid out a thick blanket for him to lay. We were allowed to spend as much time as needed together which allowed us to say goodbye and even FaceTime with his other ‘parent’ who was away on business. Dr. K came in when I called and after a few minutes of her sitting with us asked if I was ready. Two-​three minutes later it was over.
While I certainly wish the outcome would have been different, I’m truly grateful that I came to the PetER that night. I never felt rushed or uncomfortable. I also feel that he got the best care and diagnosis possible and the most humane ending he deserved. Dr. K was extremely professional and you can tell she (and the rest of the staff) truly cares!
All in all I spent around $ 550 that night which I don’t consider expensive considering the level of care provided and that included a private cremation. I can’t recommend this place enough and I most certainly will be back if (god forbid) a pet needs immediate emergency care in the future.

I have mixed feelings about this place. For any middle-​income Marylander, it will be too expensive to take your pet here for an emergency. You will pay $ 800 per half day or $ 1,500 per day on average for minimal services rendered.
Our elderly cat was dying, and we took him here around midnight when our normal vet was closed. The waiting room and building is used by a specialty vet (i.e. feline cardiology, etc.) that does a lot of business during the day. In all honesty, it could use a facelift, including new furniture and a paint job. It looks like it was designed in the 90’s and never updated.
The upside of our late night visit, we didn’t have to wait more than 5 min., as they keep a handful of vets and techs on duty at all hours. The initial consult is $ 85, but that is when the vet will give you an estimate of what future costs may be, should you accept them. Our «low estimate» was around $ 600 for less than a 12 hour stay and very minimal work (just IV fluids, painkillers, and a watchful eye), the 24 hour estimate was more like $ 1200+. The vet, while very professional, gave us a bit of an eye of disdain when we would not agree to blood tests and other costly procedures. We’d had tests done recently that showed no abnormalities and didn’t feel that invasive procedures were necessary. They will twist your arm as your medical advisor to get you to agree to procedures your pet could use, but you have to be firm and decide both what you can afford and what you feel your pet actually needs. If you need to leave your pet, you are charged in 12 hour increments from the drop-​off time, so keep that in mind. If your pet stays there, they will also call you at least once every 8 – 12 hours to give you an update. The main vet shifts go from something like 9pm to 9am, so when the vets switch, they will also try to call you before they leave.
By the time we decided how to proceed, as we were leaving we asked to see our cat that they had in the back for an hour already, and I assumed he’d be on the IV fluids. However, they hadn’t started barely ANY treatment yet. We joked it was because they hadn’t collected payment yet. It was unclear if their lag in starting life-​saving IV fluids was due to a lack of payment or other factors… The IV fluids normally give him an immediate boost. My assessment is that the vets are genuinely concerned about offering your pet the highest quality of care, but they seem to be charging the rates for a Pet ER that might be located in Manhattan to people who make over $ 100K. In Maryland, I assume a lot of people go home with major credit card debt.
The area where this clinic did *shine* for us was in their end-​of-​life treatment. We had to put our cat down, and they made it a good experience. They did not rush the process at all, and allowed us to stay with him in a private exam room as long as we wanted. We also got to decide where he would get injection (lap vs. table), and even provided a mini cardboard casket that they sealed him inside and gave us after for our own home burial.
I would only really recommend this clinic for extreme circumstances where a vet is needed during off hours. However, bring your credit card and be prepared to spend a minimum $ 500.

The staff was wonderful during a very difficult situation: excellent vet care, professional but caring and no waiting.

I wouldn’t recommend. My 18-​year old cat was there on a Saturday with a suspected UTI. In just a few hours I had incurred about $ 800 in bills. I was advised to let them keep cat overnight for additional $ 1,000 and tests. Then on Monday, they would do a cardio work up for $ 600+. I had to keep mentioning this cat rebounds after antibiotics and fluids. I was given options, none of which were to put cat down or take her home. I took her home with fluids. Also, they gave her antibiotics as a pill. I tried to get a shot as giving a cat pills is hard but they didn’t recommend it. In the end, I was not able to get her to keep pills down and my own vet eventually gave her a shot. I feel the emphasis was on padding bills and not being realistic about treating an 18-​year-​old cat that I know better than they do.

Went to Pet+E.R. last night because our dog was limping. The desk staff explained the process and took the $ 85 exam fee up front. I felt this was a reasonable charge to have an emergent professional exam performed. We were then led back to the triage area where the technician weighed Maggie and took her vital signs. The tech (Erin I believe) was very friendly and gentle with her. Next we were moved to the exam room where within a couple of minutes the vet– Dr. Molinaro came to see Maggie. He performed a very thorough physical exam and then spent a great deal of time discussing his findings (or lack thereof since she had stopped limping by this point). I was very impressed with his bedside manner and thorough exam. He could have ordered a bunch of costly xrays but actually explained how they would not likely be helpful in this case.
Maggie is doing great and I have a new Vet ER if I ever need one. Let’s hope I don’t.

Our cat is into everything, and I mean everything, hence we have been to this pet er late one Friday night a few months ago. Although they were very expensive, thats the price you sometimes have to pay in an emergency pet situation (just like as if you were admitted to the hospital without insurance). Our cat decided to eat/​swallow a large portion of string that needed to be removed by surgery. Everyone was very patient and understanding with the situation. The vet was very descriptive and informed us of our options etc. If you have Carecredit it will save your life, your pets life and your bank account in an emergency and PetER accepts it. We didnt have too wait too long while we were there and they seemed to take excellent care of our cat, i would def recommend this place to others in a pet emergency.
