Local Pie is a gem! Try the Lemon & Ricotta. It’s the perfect pie for the summer days. The owner, Lisa was extremely down to earth! P. S. Check out the bathroom, it was exceptionally clean and pleasant. I walked out smelling and feeling so rejuvenated! This place is simple and practical.

Omg, the pizza here is amazing! All fresh with local ingredients! Even better is they allow you to BYOB, so cool! I highly recommend the smashed meatball or white pizza!

A new non-chain pizza place in Towson? Awesome! The restaurant has a very simple, clean look to it. The owner is a sweetheart and seems very genuine. Great friendly service. I ordered the Margherita pizza. It was solid. Mozzarella was perfect. The basil could have been fresher though. The crust was perfect as far as baking/crispness. Although the slices are so thin and small they soak up the sauce and fall apart under rhe weight of any toppings. Which brings me to my second issue: the pizza is tiny. It is a small portion for the $. I get that the ingredients are farm fresh so you should expect to pay more, which is fine. I wouldn’t mind paying more for a larger size but there is no option to do so. The overall taste and quality of the pizza was above average and quite tasty. Very similar to the Margherita at Bertucci’s which have bigger slices and more basil at around the same price. The BYOB option is nice although getting a beer there would be great too! I will probably be back to try the meatball variation.

We’ve really enjoyed local pie the few visits we’ve made, though we’re not as enamored with the delivery(via OrderUp). The smashed bison meatball and hot honey is our favorite, which is good since it’s so far a constant on the ever-changing seasonal menu. A great mix of sweet and spicy, with the great tomato sauce flavor we’ve come to expect from the proprietors, this is a great pie that doesn’t even need red pepper flakes. It should not, however, be given as takeout/delivery on a piece of wavy wax paper — the pie melts into the paper and you end up picking it apart to make sure you’re not eating paper.

Local Pie was recommended by our neighbor, a paleo/locavore/quality food fanatic. We went this evening. What a refreshing change from boring Baltimore fare. The place is chill and the owner is super friendly. Daughter ordered a margherita and wifey called on her choice, say there were more interesting toppings. Daughter disagreed saying, «The ultimate test of a pizza is the most basic pie. If they get that right, everything else is likely to be good.» Because we couldn’t decide, the owner let us do a half margherita/half smashed sausage. My wife ordered hers with lots of vegetable toppings. Plus we ordered an arugula salad which was enough for 3 of us. 2 pizzas were more than 3 of us could finish. It was exceptional. Crust was light, crisp and flavorsome. Service was warm. Interior is chic and understated. I love this place.

I found out about Local Pie from a Paulie Gee’s Facebook post and it was absolutely worth the visit. Their pies are fresh and they have a great variety. I chose the classic margherita to taste the tomato sauce, crust, and cheese. I thought the cheese was fantastic and had just the right amount of saltiness to match the sweetness of the tomato sauce. It was obvious the tomatoes were fresh and not from a cheap can. They had small chunks and texture that were evidence of the farm-to-table concept. The crust was fantastic and had itself a sweet, almost buttery flavor to it. It wasn’t over or undercooked, and it meshed well with the cheese and tomato sauce. My only recommendation would be a lunch specific menu since not everyone plans on spending up to $ 14 on a lunch. Maybe a smaller pizza at a smaller price would allow people to grab a pie for under $ 10 for lunch. I know my coworkers would be much more interested in going if this was the case. A few reviews said that the service was too long, but I’m GLAD the service took time because it takes time to make a good pizza. Good pizza requires a bit of time and when it was delivered to me it had been in the oven for just the right amount. I’m glad Towson now has Local Pie and I will be an avid visitor for months to come!

Pie was incredible. Definitely the best in Towson. I like how risky they are with their different pies. Try the lamb and mint!

Living in DC, my wife and I have no reason to visit Towson, but we helped a friend move from here to Nashville. We searched for the highest rated pizza places nearby her apartment to order dinner and found this place and we are so glad we did. It’s thin crust pizza so it doesn’t fill you up as fast, but it’s quality pizza. We ordered one margarita pizza and one sausage and kale. Both were amazing that we wish we ordered a third. Three would have fed us three better. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Finally got a chance to check out Local Pie it is a small space so you have to go at the right time when there isn’t a huge wait and we went in at the perfect time right before there was a big crowd! Everyone very friendly, helpful and attentive. 3 options to choose from for a salad(it was hard to decide) but ending up picking the caprese. Very different. It had sundried tomatoes, lettuce and cheese in strips that look like fettuccine. It was great(could have used a few more sundried tomatoes and a little bit more lettuce but tasted great)! We ordered two pizzas– the Mushroom and the BDT. Both were equally amazing! Amazing fresh ingredients– the way pizza should be made(but unfortunately most of the time isnt). It is BYOB and the second we sat down we were offered a bottle opener and a wine bucket to put our beer in. Just an allaround awesome expreince and cant wait to go back!

Meh? They’re trying to hard. It took me a while to figure out what the problem was, and I finally feel like I have it nailed down. They are trying too hard not to be a pizza place while being a pizza place. It started with the lady wanting us to come up to her to order. We were seated like, ten feet away. She seemed put off by the idea of you know, walking over to us and taking our order. Then there was the menu… Classic overly elaborate pretentious west coast style pizza. Way too busy. The purist NY pizza lover in my was disturbed. Way too much fuss. I love that they are using good ingredients… tell me about that… but don’t go to far with the pizza. It was just too complex. We settled on a standard cheese pizza and a white pizza. The cheese pizza was mediocre. It was like the Chef Boyardee box kit sold in grocery stores. Weak, runny sauce with running cheese. Very little flavor and a lot of sliding of cheese and gnashing of teeth. The crust was merely adequate. The white pizza was a pleasant surprise, and redeemed the whole lunch. It was salty, flavorful, and the cheese was not as runny. It had a nice texture. They should make the regular cheese pizza like this. We were annoyed by their no tips policy. If I’m not tipping, I want to know what you are paying your employees, not what wonderful cause you are donating tips to… I make donations on my own and thus will not be tipping if that’s what you are doing… so I’m much more concerned that you are short-changing your employees when you take away tips. Put on the menu that you pay them a living wage and I’ll be happy about the no tips policy. I don’t like this trend.

I went at lunch with 4 of my coworkers so we were able to try a variety of the pizzas. From the moment we walked in we were enamored of the design(we are all graphic designers) of the place, the artwork, the shabby chic touches, and all before we sat down. The water was brought out in these wonderful mottled bottles, so we never had to wait for a refill. Then the pizzas came out. It’s hard to rank, but the white pizza was unbelievable! So delicious! The smashed meatball was incredible, and the apple was surprising and wonderful! Not a bad word to be said about this place! They don’t accept tips but they will accept donations to support local farmers. I will come back again and again. And again.

I had the Sausage & Kale pie, which is topped with turkey sausage, kale, mozzarella, American grana, and tomato sauce. It was okay. The crust is thin, not necessarily a bad thing, but all of the toppings made it very soggy shortly thereafter. Also, I didn’t really care for the sausage after while because it became a little too much, so I picked the pieces off. What I really like is the fact that everything is fresh and not full of processed foods. Service is great.

An amazing farm to table pizza place in the heart of Towson. On my first visit I tried the kale salad. The kale salad was amazing. The flavors blended like a symphony. Do try it!!! The mushroom soup was very satisfying with huge chunks of mushroom. Again a simply amazing soup creation! For the pizza I tried the bison blue cheese pizza and the bison meatball pizza both equally outstanding and the flavors compliment each other. The crust was thin and baked to perfection! I want to go back and try the other pizzas! The service was the best and very delightful. So do try this place you won’t be disappointed!

Came here for lunch on a Thursday with a family member. The place was completely empty. The owners seem to have taken a modern/minimalist approach to the décor. Seemingly hundreds of small eclectic pictures in white frames hung on the bright white walls. Modern Edison style light bulbs without fixtures hung from the ceiling. I like the way the space feels. The menu is laid out on a chalkboard hung behind the cashier at the front of the restaurant. You place your order there, take a seat and your order is brought to you. We opted for the kale salad and the smashed meatball pizza. The kale salad was light and refreshing, topped with small pieces of apple, feta and properly dressed in a honey vinaigrette. What really made the salad were the sunflower seeds sprinkled throughout. The meatball pizza didn’t go over so smashingly. The sauce and the meatballs were tasty, but the tiny pools of melty mozzarella didn’t suffice. The crust was also disappointing as it was slightly underdone in the middle and it could not uphold the weight of the toppings. I’ll definitely give Local Pie a second chance when in Towson, but I won’t go out of my way to get a slice.

To quote the 5 year old in our group, «it’s like a present for my mouth!» This pizza is something awesome! Local pie is farm to table and you can taste the freshness in every ingredient. They have favorites that will always be on the menu but also seasonal pies that will come and go!

Hello, my name is Ally and I’m a pizza addict. Seriously though guys, I eat a ton of pizza. We heard about Local Pie which opened up not too long ago and decided to switch it up and try something new. Everyone has different preferences and let’s say, standards when it comes to food, particularly za. So let’s put this in perspective… If you’re from the Baltimore area, I’d say some of the best pizza I had up to this point was at Joe Squared(or if it’s on the cheap, kinda can’t go wrong with some late night Pasta Mista). Well, Local Pie blows them both out of the water. The ingredients are locally-sourced, not to mention they have homemade ricotta, it’s BYOB, AND… the cherry on top? There is no tipping allowed. NOTIPPING. Instead… any little extra you want to leave benefits Wholesome Wave which enables underserved consumers to make healthier food choices by increasing affordable access to fresh, local and regional food. How cool is that, folks? Owner, Lisa Heckman, is a gem and is the past owner of Iggie’s in Mount Vernon. Definitely knows her stuff and I’m wishing Local Pie all the best in 2015! Will be back

First impressions are important, and I was definitely impressed. I was hoping a good spot would pop up in this location after Havana Road closed down, and it is more than good. I was in a hurry and stopped in just for carryout. I was greeted immediately, and the waiter was happy to make recommendations and take my order. I paid and noticed there wasn’t a place to leave tips on the receipt, and before I knew it the waiter walked away. Turns out they don’t accept tips, and any gratuity goes to charity. The pizza came out in less than ten minutes. I ordered the smashed meatball pizza and it was awesome. There was sweetness and spice to it, and I loved every bite. If you’re a full sized man, just a pizza alone from here probably won’t fill you up, but I felt like I got my money’s worth. I can’t wait to try the rest of the menu.

I saw a write up for Local Pie in the Baltimore Sun and was intrigued. I’ve been waiting to find a great pizza place in Towson. Unfortunately I did not find it here. Keep in mind I would not really consider this restaurant a «pizza place» it is more of a hipster«gourmet» pizza place. Atmosphere/service: The atmosphere has a clean, crisp, yet hipster feel. Service is very friendly and the owner walked about. It is comfortable, but the seating is limited so I could see there being wait issues. You order at the cashier and then take your seat. No issues with atmosphere or service. Food: Honestly, I walked in expecting to order a regular pie. Instead there was only thin crust, which I don’t mind, but this crust was paper thin. The crust could not even hold up the weight of the meatballs. When breaking apart the slices, some of the slices ripped in half because it was too thin. The taste was just«OK». Not worth the cost. The meatball pie was below average in taste when comparing to other pizza places in the area. The margarita pie was good. Quantity/Cost: This is where the 2 stars come in. The pizzas are too small. The pizza is 12″ for a $ 13-$ 15 pie. With the slices being paper thin, I can honestly eat 3 pies by myself.(I am an average size 190lb guy).I don’t care what people say on here, there is absolutely no way 2 normal sized people can share 1 pizza. So now you are talking about spending $ 30+ for pizza for 2 people and they both will still be hungry and just think the pies were«OK». While I was there a couple people asked for a large and they did not have a large pie offering. I kind of liked the vibe and see how some people could have a good time here with it being BYOB and all, but for the reasons stated above, I would not go back. People who get take out would definitely not pick up from here as it is too pricey with horrible parking options. The pizza size is way too small for pick up. Dining in doesn’t make sense because there is «gourmet» pizza within 10 minutes that has superior quality and quantity for about the same cost.

Local pie is not your average pizza joint. It is so much MORE! From its farm to table concept to its quaint, artsy atmosphere, this restaurant is a must-see if you’re in the Towson area. But more than that, the owners, Lisa Heckman & Peter Wood, have re-invented pizza! Instead of mouthfuls of grease, cheap tomato sauce, and tasteless dough, each bite is carefully crafted to contain a unique fusion of flavors that leaves your mouth watering for more!!! If you are still not convinced, check out the pictures I’ve posted! You’ll regret not giving it a try!

I tried out Local Pie today and I was really impressed. The owner is the previous owner of Iggies in Mount Vernon so they had high expectations to live up to. Well, they sure did! The menu is similar to Iggies or any foodie type pizza place. They claim to be the region’s first farm to table pizzeria. They have thin crust pies that are made to order. From the time that I sat down to the time and I got my pizza it was less than five minutes. The ordering system is like a fast casual restaurant where you pay first and then sit down with the number. The décor is nice. It’s very white and bright. I ordered the smash meatball pizza which consisted of local bison smashed meatballs, a sweet tomato sauce with honey, cheese, and a very thin well cooked pizza. It was awesome. I ate the whole thing myself, but you could probably share two between three people. I highly recommend checking out local fine. You’ll not be letdown. And most importantly I’m very excited to see this kind of restaurant in Towson.
