I have over 30 years of experience in restoring and fabricating string instruments to meet classic standards of size, form and function. I also specialize in customizing instruments to meet a player’s personal standards. History

Established in 1978.

After training with Germans for several years I opened my own shop in 1978, specializing in early instruments, viols, lute etc. Over time I included cellos, then basses and the rest of the bowed strings. I experiment widely with set ups, personalized chin rests etc .Play-​ability enables the instrumentalist to maximize the sound of their instrument cn provide them.

I grew up in construction learning carpentry on historic restoration from the time I was thirteen With a background in art and interest in music, the obvious confluence was instrument making. I have experience as a machinist, mechanic and architectural fabricator as well. These other inputs give me a different context than most luthiers have.
