Colony At Kenilworth Apartments

It’s a shame I can’t give this place less then a star. These apartments have mold, everywhere. You have a mildew smell in the apartment that gets stuck in your clothes even after you wash them. Management won’t answer phone calls or maintenance requests. When they do come out, the worker simply says «I can’t smell anything» then leaves. This place is an absolute joke. Only been here a few months. Read other people’s reviews and thought, how bad can it be? Yea, it’s actually that bad. Do yourselves a favor, don’t rent here unless you like living with mice and mold

I currently live in the colonies, recently it was discovered that our apartment has mold from a leaking sealing (mold seems to be a common occurrence as this is the second time this has happened to us). After informing the staff of this issue 7 days ago, they have yet to do anything about the leaking ceiling or the mold. Beware renters.

Terrible. Doesn’t answer phone calls, EVER. When you leave a message (with your phone number) and ask them to call you back, they never do. Then you get a «false account» on your bill and it’s your fault you didn’t ask them about it. I would have if you decided to answer my 8 calls/​messages.

DO NOT RENT HERE. My roommates and I rented here during college simply because it was cheap and close to 695 for my commute.
HOWEVER:
1. The maintenance is horrible. They take forever to respond and do not actually FIX what’s wrong. They use the WD-​40 or Duct Tape method.
2. There are cheaper places to live in Towson if price is your main factor.
3. No security or security cameras. We had our apartment broken into and (after I called the police) I called the front desk to let them know what had happened and that our front door had been broken down and needed the lock to be fixed. The reaction was simply ‘ok, i’ll put in a service request’. I could do that on my own online. 4 hours later no one showed up and I’m about to call again because I won’t be able to lock the door to the apartment until they fix it.
4. Parking sucks and they are either really strict about permits (they will tow) or don’t care at all, but you will never know which.
5. Bad place for families. College parties are super common (which I don’t mind because I’m a student) but they aren’t just on Friday and Saturday nights.
Overall customer service and maintenance along with quality of housing and amenities is NOT worth what you pay for an apartment.
*note: they accept credit cards for payment, but as of now they can’t split the payment between roommates. if you pay rent with your card it has to be for the full amount.

Ok this place really isn’t that bad. Especially compared to where I lived last year at Towson Woods… now that place was a nightmare. Just get a townhouse instead of an apartment… they’re much nicer.

This is THE WORST place to live. Ever seen Animal House? This is the real-​life version. If you are a responsible adult, I highly advise you to look elsewhere. Every one of my neighbors are awful. Countless times I have been woken up at 3 – 4:00 AM with people screaming at the top of their lungs, attempting to jump off of balconies naked, girls running around with their shirts over their heads screaming and running in circles, guys urinating off of the balconies, fights breaking out in the courtyard in front of my bedroom window, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
My neighbors had moving blankets and a couch sitting in front of their door in the walkway for over six months collecting god-​knows-​what. Other neighbors had ripped bags of trash, beer cans, and food wrappers in front of their apartment for about the same amount of time. These people have no respect for others or for themselves. The front door to my apartment quickly became the place for the drunks to gather to spew their nonsense, as well as a place for said drunks to vomit and urinate. Calling the cops does not get through to any of the numb-​skulls that live here. I could possibly handle the noise and antics if it were confined to Fridays and Saturdays, but, unfortunately, it’s not. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday are the big party nights, but it also occurs very frequently throughout the week. (FYI: It’s 11:30 on a Monday night right now, and my neighbors are just getting started.)
Maintenance is no better: I admit, they are nice people, but it quickly gets old having to call them numerous times for the same problem because it NEVER gets fixed right the first time… or second, for that matter. Please heed all the warnings you read on here. There’s a reason this place is rated so poorly. Luckily, I’m out of here in two weeks. I’ve been counting down to this day since the week after I moved in. Good riddance, Club Colony!

Sadly I had the displeasure of living here for over 7 years, not entirely by my own choice. You see I living with my disabled mother. When we first moved in we thought it was only going to be a year or two at most before we were going to move out into a place of our own. Sadly that wasn’t the case. It seemed as if every time our lease was up for renewal some sort of bad luck, often resulting in someones diminished health, led us to agree to renew the lease. Finally this year we had enough.
Where do I even start with the list of problems?
If you are a college student and really don’t care about the type of conditions you live in then this is the place for you. You’ll fit right in with the other majority of people that live here.
For the rest of us I advise to stay away. In my 7+ years here I had caught over 4 dozen mice, and no I’m not embellishing that even though I wish I was. At one point my mom was in the bathroom and the ceiling collapsed on her head due to mold. We were without a working shower for almost 2 weeks while they repaired everything. For the first few years there was a family living above us that liked to do their laundry in the kitchen sink. This lead to multiple leaks in my apartment since they would leave the sink unattended with clothes in it and the water running. After multiple complaints to the office, nothing was done. After they moved out, some guys moved in who must have weighed 400 lbs since all they did was stomp around all day and night. Also I believe they were throwing weights since that’s what it sounded like any time they dropped something on the floor. When they weren’t stomping around they were either smoking so much weed I could smell it through my apartment or playing music so loud at 3 am I could tell what song it was that loud. Again, after multiple complaints to the office, nothing was done. And last, earlier this year I started seeing tiny holes in the wall in my bedroom. I told the office I thought it was termites. After numerous calls and visits to the office, the exterminator was finally sent out. He looked, said he thought it was termites but had to send his boss out. After 2 more visits they were finally treated. The dry wall in my apartment was never fixed before I moved out.
Last…the staff. It’s like a revolving door of people over there. There have only been maybe 3 helpful people that have worked that office in the years that I’ve lived there. All the others were either rude or just stupid. You go in with a problem and you’re told one thing. You go in again about the same issue and you’re told another thing. And when they do get someone in there who is competent, they ship them off to another community.
If you’ve chosen to skim my review, allow my to summarize for you. DO NOT LIVE HERE. Seriously. This place needs to be leveled to the ground and rebuilt. And even then I’d think twice about living there.

Renting an apartment at the Colony was a mistake. The Colony unilaterally changed several policies during my stay in destructive ways. One example was a notice they taped to my door that said in 3 days they were going to tow all cars parked in their lots. The idea was to get rid of abandoned cars. With such short notice (and many Hispanic residents which may have had trouble reading the notice) hundreds of cars were wrongfully towed.
The maintenance staff is courteous, but doesn’t typically fix the problem you call them in for. After several requests, I ended up insulating my own front door (which leaked tons of air). I ended up unplugging the bathroom vent fan because it was so noisy and 4 attempts at corrective measures by the maintenance staff failed.
Finally, the Colony changed their electronic rent payment system during my stay. After the change, I was incorrectly charged a $ 75 late fee. It took my wife and I approx 6 hours of repeated contact with the office to get that fee returned. During that whole exchange, I was presumed to be in the wrong from the beginning.
I was very disappointed with my 14 month stay in one of the Colony’s rather shabby apartments.
