Stop & Shop is as Stop & Shop does. This one is as standard as any other of the new-store model S&Ss. The meat counter is all but non-existent and the fish selection is pitiful compared to its counterparts downstate.

This Stop and Shop is always slow which is good when you want to get in and out. I find S&S to be the pricier of the grocery store options but sometimes convenience is worth the extra money. They had the pumpkin ice cream I wanted and I ran through the self checkout.

This is my main grocery store I go every month. Prices are moderate. Good locations. Never had a bad experience at the Deli, it can be crowded at times. Organic food and fruits and veggies selection is good. Never got a bad piece of meat there or fish. Now that the gas point go to Shell’s station, gives me all the more reason to shop there. This S$S is equipped with a Dunkin Donuts which can a first stop before shipping, also a People’s bank is also inside. I recommend this store.

This Stop & Shop is great. I like it a bit better than the older one on the west side of town. Still clean, still a great selection. Yeah, it sucks that they didn’t build a gas station with this one, but apparently, now that Taco Bell has relocated to this end of town they’re going to build one in place of the old Taco Bell by the other Stop and Shop. The butcher shop is kind of crappy compared to the one at the other end of town, but then it’s organized differently than the one across town which is the one I’m used to. The organic section is great, and the produce department is equally fabulous. Bright, clean, and nary a rotten fruit or vegetable in sight.

Very pleased with this Stop & Shop. It’s a bit odd to have this ‘dueling grocery’ thing at the top of the hill, but why not? Clean store with a great selection — but this is the honeymoon phase, so we’ll see… Nice selection of organics, definitely better than Price Chopper. Feels like a wider selection in general. The MAJOR detraction is the gas point situation. Participating gas stations are in Bristol, Waterbury, etc. You’re never going to use the gas points if you’re local. Keep going to Price Chopper if that’s an issue, as it is for me… Also, you don’t have any other stores in the plaza, so it’s maybe not as efficient for multi-stop errands, but if you’re coming from nearly anywhere in Torrington, this is the first driveway you come across. Great store.
