Established in 2013.

Owner John McMinn has been in the residential construction field for over 13 years. John has now expanded his company and experience and in 2013 started We Do It Custom, Inc.

Business Owner

Owner John McMinn started work in the construction arena in 2002 working alongside his father, a local well-​known general contractor. In 2013 John expanded and created his own company, We Do It Custom, Inc. Over the past few years We Do It Custom, Inc has remodeled, resurfaced, and restructured many homes in the Southern California area from Los Angeles to San Diego and the Desert region.

We did not use John for any concrete work, but he did come out for an estimate. He responded to my phone call very promptly and scheduled an estimate the same week. John arrived on time to our appointment, which is really rare because of all the traffic in the south bay. He also seemed very professional while inspecting my garage, and even made some suggestions on how I could save money. Finally, John also came out on a Friday and I got his estimate by email on Sunday. In the end, we decided on another company because they seemed to have more experience with the specialized work that we required. However, I would not hesitate to contact John again for future projects.

John took out our old driveway and put in a completely new one. It was SO refreshing to work with a contractor with good communication, transparency about what he is doing and when he will do it, and integrity in his work – in other words, professionalism. As a woman, I particularly appreciated that John always took my words seriously and explained things without condescension. When the project hit some unforeseen snags, John was honest about the problem and our options to resolve them. We’re pleased with the solution he came up with, and we think the driveway came out well.
If we were ever to need more concrete work done, I wouldn’t hesitate to call John again! He said his goal was for us to be smiling when the job was finished, and he worked hard to accomplish it. That’s exactly what you want in a contractor, and John delivers.

John created a new concrete driveway for us. Professional, timely, organized, and personable are all attributes John exhibits. I was impressed with payment system he set-​up after each portion of the project was complete. When adjustments were needed before project completion, John was understanding of our needs. It’s safe to say we will be contacting John for future projects. Highly recommend John without reservation.

John just completed our project yesterday. From start to finish he communicated with every step of the project. We ran into a need for additional dirt removal and both split the cost; he offered to cover it himself, but it was fair to share the expense. I would not hesitate to work with him again. He does a thorough job, doesn’t cut corners and offers competitive pricing — it’s a win win working with him.

We had a great experience with John from We Do It Custom… We had some work done originally on our kitchen by another company and we were not happy with the work due to a multitude of issues that kept coming up. Luckily John came out and explained everything to us. He showed us why and how things needed to be fixed and then fixed everything to make it exactly as we envisioned it originally! We absolutely love the work and how wonderful and patient he was with us!
