Total Woman Gym + Spa – Torrance

Do not buy spa services in advance… They apparently EXPIRE even though I paid for it… What a waste of money. So disappointing that they’d bribe me with a special and then not honor it. O’well… Lesson learned. Don’t go!

Get everything in writing and don’t give them a credit card! Enrolled my wife and two daughters here and it is a decent setup but pay for a year or don’t join! We were members for quite some time (couple of years) but like many gym memberships that start with motivated intentions the regular workouts faded and I probably paid well over $ 1000 dollars for nothing. I finally said that’s it and took steps to cancel the membership. You need to go in there to do it and you need to it in WRITING otherwise plan on getting messages that you owe them money etc. getting out of this gym arrangement is harder than getting out of the jam of the month club (the gift that keeps on giving). I know a lot of ladies like the fact that it is women only but there has to be another option! I don’t like getting screwed like this.

Proceed with caution before you join Total Women. They are not honest. I signed up when they opened and received a great membership fee. I added a service and was assured that when I wanted to cancel that service I would revert back to my original fee. Surprise surprise they lied and increased the membership fee. They aren’t to be trusted. The manager I met with regarding this was unfriendly, impatient and very curt. They do not care at all about loosing long time customers. I do not recommend them at all.

I gave it 2 stars because of lack of customer service. Aggressive sales and ppl there don’t seem to want to work there. Also they close too early 10p, and are cranky when you come in past 9 pm. It’s also hard getting any massage in the evenings because there is limited staff, that’s what they blame it on, otherwise it’s clean and well equipped. I’ve been here too long to leave now.

the star rating is for the actual gym & spa… however, customer service and keeping of your privacy to others is a 2 star!
I had my membership for about a year and I kept running into a major issue… there is another woman with my exact same name (a famous actress actually) on file… they kept mistaking me with her EVERY check in!!! To verify who you are they give out personal information «do you live at 123 blueberry st #409?» «is your number 123−456−7890?» If I had a pen, I would of known all of her personal information!!! I had to correct them every time and repeat how unprofessional it was to verify my identity by saying an address and phone number out loud in front of everyone. My key card did not scan one time so they cancelled mine and reissued one. Problem was… they used her account to do it!!! I believe she never even went to the gym but I bet she would be upset hearing about what they did. They girls at the desk we’re not new employees.
Dope to have only women and an open jaccuzzi for all to use… bad part is, you have to sit in sweaty water from your fellow gym members and you will see the build up of dirt!!! Never found a decent massage therapist at any of the locations but for the price, it’s decent for gym & spa combo. You get a free massage or facial every month. I recommend the facial, and always get the facial so after a few months you can benefit from it. I once got a massage and as i was leaving they told me I didn’t pay. I told them I had the gym spa combo. Took them about 15 minutes to verify… mind you I just had a massage so I ended up leaving stressed out by poor customer service.
Glendale location was my home gym because it was close to my job, enjoyed the classes and got a couple massages from here, parking is in a structure which is convenient but you can only stay for 2 hours so move your car every 2 hours or pay $. Woodland hills had the cleanest jaccuzzi but the gym is smaller, parking is at a shopping mall. Northridge was filthy, parking is at a shopping mall. Torrance was the closest to my home, got a massage and facial here, parking is at a local shopping center.
Dear Gym, do not every speak personal information to customers to verify their identity… either ask them to say it or have some sort of code word. Clean your jaccuzi’s more often or have a over flowing one that is more like a self cleaner like at Woodland Hills. Finally, ask for/​verify payments BEFORE services are done!

The last straw … So sad. I joined Total Woman Gym for several reasons. I thought how cool is it to have a membership that also included one or two spa services each month? And the gym is clean & beautiful. AND a huge plus the spa sells & offers Epicuran facials! I hung in through the lack of spa management, employee’s leaving, etc. but now I’m done. At the end of Dec. they will no longer be offering or selling Epicuran.
I was fortunate to be assigned to Pilates with Hanna when Teri left. But this is a deal breaker for me. If Corporate wants to cut costs then they can figure what the cost of losing my membership & the bad press I’m spreading. Do they know what their cost for new customer acquisition is versus customer retention? Ask the Sharks, or better yet, revisit your Business 101 text.

I love how it is only for woman! I just want to work out, without feeling uncomfortable… so, it is exactly what I have been looking for.

I’m from Arizona and was only visiting for the weekend. Found this place through Unilocal.Chose this place because of the positive reviews. Have to say that I agree with everyone else. The girls at the front were very friendly and right away were able to help and gave me a week pass for a good price, couldn’t turn it down. I was amazed with the place, very clean. Was definitely surprised with their sauna, and classes. Happy that I found them. Thank You!

Very very bad customer service. The fees is not same for every body. They have lots of hidden fees, which they will not talk to you about. They have so many employees but nobody even gonna say hi to you or a smile on there face. Over all performance of this gym is zero. The gym sometime not even open on time. 0

This place is great! Gals, if you want to go to a gym to take care of business w/​o some meathead harassing you… With the added bene of a spa (massage or facial included in your dues!!), this is the place for you! I purchased the groupon deal… Took 2 classes today & they didn’t laugh my uncoordinated tush outta the building. I think the prices are unbelievable! Only thing they are missing… pool/​hot tub. They will give you a 3day pass, go check it out. Oh, and the ladies that are members there are very nice & encouraging!!!

It’s been a month since I’ve been here, very clean and good group workout. I like Zumba and yoga and some of the Zumba classes kick my butt! Tons of parking, happy with the place so far

Not happy at all with the administrative area. Needed a hold, but if it were medical, I had to provide a doctor’s note. Personal? No problem. Stupid. So I am just going to cancel. Small gym, same as any gym. I will just go elsewhere.

Great gym for those women who are self conscious or who are tired of men looking at them in the gym. That was my worry. I switched from 24 hour to total women and I have to say it’s totally worth the $. Even tho it’s small and doesn’t have EVERYTHING 24 hour has, they have enough to get a complete workout without feeling like anyone is watching you. Not ever crowded and is always clean. Seems like there is always someone cleaning mirrors or equipment. Worth the cost.

I have no idea why everyone is complaining this place is so amazing. They have a gym and spa side and they are both so clean and well set up. Ask for Susan she is so kind and explained everything to me. If you come in before the end of the month there’s a special. Call Susan for more information. They also have all types of classes. Im so excited to start my gym and spa membership here!

When I signed up I was told that the person who referred me was going to receive a $ 50 massage certificate (essentially a free massage). She never received it, I complained and was told that it was given to me in my intro packet. But it didn’t matter anyway because it expired regardless.
I was very polite and let them know they were mistaken, that I never received someone else’s referral bonus (does that make sense to ANYONE? give a referrel bonus on a new member’s FIRST day to the member who signed up and NOT to the member who actually referred me? Yea I didn’t think so)
It is a poor business strategy to just hand out the referrel bonus on the day someone signs up. There is always a time period in which the member needs to be a part of the organization, criteria to be met before the bonus is released to the person who made the referrel, not the new member herself.
The staff here has the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I have EVER experienced. They would prefer to LOSE TWO gym memberships than give out the referrel bonus that was earned by a member of several years.
And fyi total woman — you make back the money within a month and have two happy members vs lose them but yay u get to keep the one massage certificate! Great business sense.

Total Woman though it is a very clean gym and has friendly staff is not a gym I would ever recommend! The workout space is very limited and if you are looking to do free weights their is only one little space for that and the rest is machines which are ok but nothing to speak off. The worst thing is that if you decide to take a group class the room is always packed and there is no space to breathe let alone move. I mentioned this and they told me they were going to start a numbering system to limit the amount of people coming in. They tried but it has never been enforced. I have walked out of classes many times because I had no room to workout. It seems to me they only care about numbers not your safety or quality of your workout.

I havnt worked out here, only had facials and massages while my mom works out. I will say that I love the concept of this gym. It really makes it comfortable to go to when you are not ‘gym fit, gym rat’. And I know that is the main reason my mom goes.
The facilities are clean and nice. The staff always friendly.
My recent facial was great, the woman was informative and really focused on making my skin perfect. I was going to a wedding in a few days so she gave me samples to take with me and use before the wedding. Also loved the massage with it. Many times you find a great facialist with horrible massage skills or vice versa. Not the case in this appointment.

I love this place! The prices listed on the website aren’t updated. They’re actually cheaper. The day care ladies are amazing! The showers and locker room has spa music to totally relax you. The place is always spotless and I’m a neat freak! The classes are really fun. Best gym ever!!!

Total Woman is a TOTAL RIPOFF and doesn’t care AT ALL about their customers. I wouldn’t recommend this gym to anyone.
Beware when you sign up for this gym because they ask for your electronic signature over and over up and you don’t’ get to see what you’re signing for. (Is that even legal?) After they run your credit card, they print up the contract for you and it’s full of weird details about cancellation policies, etc.
After being pursued actively to sign up, we were just given the message from the manager (who wouldn’t even call us herself after I requested to speak to her) that our situation was «out of her hands.» Which was really another way of saying it’s very easy to fix your problem, but I don’t want to because I’d rather take another month of your membership even though you notified us well in advance of your intention to cancel.
I’m TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED with this gym that claims it’s all about empowering/​supporting women but, in fact, is about bad customer service and TOTALLY RIPPING OFF their customers!

Id have to say very nice place a little small but classy… Can’t wait to try out all the unique classes they have … Try the sauna & the steam room .but it is pricey, & it’s a workout for lady’s only
