Friendly staff and American fare. Unfortunately 2 of our 3 orders were wrong and our server never came back to check on our food.

Loved this place, sampler was so good and desserts are to die for. Perfect lil diner. I’ll be trying the country fried steak on my next visit I hear good things! Really nice family orientated place feels like home. Clean, friendly environment. Soups are always good!

They try hard here to satisfy the guest. I truly appreciate that. However, the place looks old and outdated as well as the menu. If you are just hungry and you just want to eat something then this is the right place. Otherwise it is an unbelievably boring experience.

We absolutely love this place. We love the chicken fried steak. SERGIO is always our waiter and he makes our visit feel like we are guest at his home. He makes us feel so welcome and comfortable. My girls run up to him to give him a big hug. You can’t go wrong with what ever you order. All the staff are friendly and make you feel welcome.

Perfect lunch special. Half sandwich, soup and salad for $ 5.99. The waitress was great and for brim lunch time, not too busy.

Very good everyday family food. They use real butter, they make their soups daily. The ranch dressing is made fresh, just like you make at home. The service always friendly and quick. All the Spires Restaurants are in dire need of a face lift. The colors are from the 70’s. Carpet has been cleaned so much it has faded.

I was staying at Best Western Plus South Bay Hotel for couple days and me and my colleague were getting tired of going to a far restaurant, so we were wondering a dinner near by. On the way back from Target, we saw Spires and decided to go there. I ordered pasta with cream sauce with shrimp and my colleague ordered sirloin steak. Those orders were enough for regular people because when we saw the food, they were so much… I had pasta that comes with salad, which was good enough. It was surprisingly great to know that Spires’s provides large shrimp instead of small ones and sirloin steak came with either mash potatoes, baked potatoes, salad, and garlic toast. Even though their food is a lot, I still liked it because the price was very reasonable compared to Applebees, Wendy’s, T.G.I Friday’s or Ruby Tuesday. Ofcourse it was a lot cheaper than Olive garden.

Felt like I was transported back to the 1980’s — aside from the high tech security cameras and the touch pad register– I was having dejavu of my prom night at Perkins! Update the décor and carpeting– seriously– the carpet must be from 1980– needs to go. Now about the food– pretty good. Got here at 6 am as soon as it opened so naturally my coffee was fresh. Best coffee all week– what brand do you use? Had the basic 2 egg breakfast with fruit oatmeal and English muffin– so hard to mess that up. The fruit was cold crisp and fresh– typical cantaloupe few orange and pineapple slices with grapes. Eggs scrambled nicely– hate runny cold eggs. Best bowl of oatmeal in a long time– came with raisins and a glass of milk with brown sugar– finally a $ 10 breakfast that sticks with you all day– was so full skipped lunch. Staff wise– very pleased. Maria was friendly and efficient– anticipated my needs and my cup never got below half– able to handle several orders at once without having an anxiety attack– very smooth made handling six plates seem like child’s play. And the cook– nice touch with the chef hat and chef jacket. Hate walking into a dinner to see a duck dynasty wanna be with no hairnet or long sleeves handling my food. I recommend!

This is your typical sit down diner. As far as décor, it’s old. A nice remodel would be great but hey it would mess up the look here. As far as value it is honestly amazing. You can’t compare the prices to anywhere else. I mean we had 2 full course dinners for $ 30 bucks, you can’t beat that. I had the Chicken Fried Steak and my friend had the Western Burger. My dinner came with a choice of soup or salad. I opted for a salad with thousand island dressing. Then you have a choice of dinner roll or some other bread. I don’t remember the other choice of bread. And then you can choose 2 sides. I got a baked potato(more places need to offer baked potatoes) and fried zucchini. My country fried steak was more like a Schnitzel but still very delish. Baked potato came with butter, sour cream and chives. And my fried zucchini came with a side of ranch. My meal was so good and so filling. And so cheap for the abundance of food I got. The Western Burger was nice and juicy and cooked perfectly. The Burger only came with one side and he got fries. And also added a Caesar Salad to it. For dessert we got a slice of Carrot Cake. Perfect amount of icing and not too sweet. As far as service it was great. Very prompt. Would come and check on us regularly and weren’t annoying. The only thing was that it was super old and not the cleanest. But other than that the food and service were great.

This place lacks décor but in terms of price it is very competitive with other sit down diners. The servers have been there a while so it is nice to see familiar faces. The breakfast special #4 is my favorite and no other place cooks a better hash brown. Other places always give you a crispy center and the rest is under cooked or raw. The bacon is always crispy without asking for it, which is great.

I came there for lunch and the service was not too great. It was super slow and the waiter didn’t come till 5 minutes to ask for drinks. The food was okay. It wasn’t terrible but I prefer Denny’s more. Overall not the best experience. If you have a bit of time to waste and there’s nowhere else to eat, this place is not a bad option.

Do not go here. A waste of time and money. If you like eating with the crypt keeper then this is your place. Service was ok but the food was horrible!

PLEASECHANGETHECARPET! It smells! I’m giving two stars for the good food at reasonable prices, however this place desperately needs to change out the carpet and give the booths an overhaul. I think it would draw younger families if only it didn’t smell as soon as you walked through the door. For the time being, owners — keep the AC flowing because the smell is THATBAD.

this location and the location in Lawndale suck. I found the location at Western and Sepulveda is pretty good. Investigation revealed that this is not a chain but family owned and each store is owned by a different family member or has been sold off.

Came for breakfast. It’s your usual run-of-the-mill restaurant like a Denny’s. Service was friendly but slower. The food was okay but left me wondering why I didn’t just eat at home. Bacon/eggs/toast. It was just very unimpressive which says a lot since breakfast would seem to be the easiest meal for a restaurant not to mess up.

When I lived here this was a weekly stop. Sometimes 2 – 3 x a week. Waitresses were always lovely and attentive. Good food. Decent portions and great prices. Like dinner better than breakfast but all meals were good. Ground beef steak is a favorite. Enough for two meals or one big meal. Cooked right and tasty. Salad is always crisp and fresh. Clean and neat. Parking is excellent. Really missed this place since moving to TX. Glad to see it is as great as ever. This one is the best location of all the Spires I have tried. You won’t be disappointed!

This is a great place to eat a meal with their daily specials as far as good quality and bang for your buck deals. The food is good, it’s not necessarily gourmet with a signature dish, but it’s consistently of quality and value priced. It’s a quaint location, so not noisy. It’s a family styled diner restaurant, but I never have seen a lot of kids like you see at their peer competitors like Denny’s, IHOP, Norms, Coco’s, etc. In that way, I like this place for a good place without chaos and a nice atmosphere for conversation Every time I go here, I think the average age of the patrons is probably around 70. So, if you’re looking for a Senior’s scene, be it to be social, or seeking out Golden Foxes, maybe a lonely cougar Widow or Sensible Widowers(unlikely any wealthy generous benefactor prospects for golddigging younger girls seeking older gentlemen dine here)… this could be your new hang out spot! The parking here is very easy, it’s in the lot shared by Panda Express, El Burrito Jr., Guilliano’s, Pinkberry, Baskin Robin’s, and I think an Albertson’s. It’s the opposite corner to the Chevron(gas station) near the Del Amo Mall.

I love using Mutalisks so I decided to give this place a visit. When I entered this restaurant, I was quite bemused because I could not tell if I entered a restaurant or a retirement center. I’ve never seen such a throng of elderly in a sit down restaurant in my life. My crony and I were the only young adults at the restaurant. As my my comrade and I took our seats, I browsed through the menu and my bewilderment was answered: every single breakfast, lunch, and dinner special in Spires only applied to senior citizens. Very interesting… I ordered a San Franciscan and its quality was as good as any other diner. The one feature that Spire possesses that other main diner chains don’t have is the option of zucchini sticks to go with a burger/sandwich order.

This is your typical American diner. I went here for breakfast today. I ordered their house omelette which consisted of egg, avocado, bell pepper, and mushrooms. It came which a choice of roasted potato or hash browns; I chose the hash browns. I also got to choose a bread-like side: white bread toast, wheat bread toast, english muffin, and etc. I got their english muffin. Their omelette was just okay. I’ve had a lot better in other places. It was quite bland, and I’m not a fan of Tobasco sauce either. So I had to force about half of the omelette in me because I didn’t want to starve the whole day. Their hash brown was pretty good. Their toasts came with different jams. I liked their english muffins a lot. I topped that muffin with some strawberry jam. Their orange juice was good(yea, some places actually get it wrong –_-). Also, the portions of everything were quite big enough that I had to get mine to-go.
