Southern California Tree and Landscape

I first chose SoCal because they seemed professional. They were more expensive, but I hoped quality would coincide. I had them over to trim my palm trees, the arborist is a real nice guy and did a great job. So good so far. Since I had a decent experience I called them to give me a quote for some landscaping (Doing a new sprinkler/​Drip system, laying sod, removing a planter etc). They landscaper came over, seemed very knowledgeable and gave me some good recommendations. This was Friday and he said that he’d submit the quote to SoCal and that they’d respond to me no later than Monday. Monday no word. Tuesday I call and they said someone would call back. By Friday no word so I call again. I am promised a response, but yet again I don’t hear back. Monday I call again leave a message. Finally I give it one more shot the Friday after (this is now 2 weeks). The man that picks up says he’ll pass the message along, but hints at something that the project may be too small for them? Final result… no one ever calls me back. This was a huge waste of my time, they are extremely inconsiderate and unprofessional in my opinion. I gave them many chances to make it right and disregarded my calls and my potential business.
I would not recommend them and would suggest looking elsewhere if you want to have any trimming or yard work done. They are not responsive and too expensive for the hassle.

As another reviewer posted, stay far far away. The arrogant jerk with the goatee is a guy named Mavar and he is the one and only reason to stay away. I was meeting him at my place a few months ago to bid a job and he cut me off on the way there. I laughed it off and gave them the benefit of the doubt. Once there I acted like it never happened and he bid the job. Twice what another local company wanted. Plus he was rude and talked poorly about the other company I mentioned. If you just want to meet a short, fat arrogant jerk… call them up. Somebody wasn’t lived enough as a child. If you want good service and good prices, call elsewhere.

This company is not the least expensive in the area but they make a great first impression which is why I chose them. They were prompt, helpful and friendly during our first meeting. Unfortunately, they fell short on follow up, reliability and overall service.
We’ve used Southern California Tree and Landscape twice. The first time my husband scheduled them for tree trimming and general clean up as well as fence removal. We swore we wouldn’t use them again. They didn’t complete the job as requested the first time or the second time. Even after the third visit we weren’t completely satisfied. Most of the work was done when I was away so 3 years later I was in charge and had forgotten the company we used. It wasn’t until they day of phase 1 that I recognized some of the staff. My heart sank a bit but I decided it was too late and with some new faces perhaps positive changes had been made. Just like the first time, we’re not completely satisfied.
It’s not easy making a long story short when it’s the overall experience that matters. I wanted to completely redo my backyard but first some general maintenance and clean up had to happen… tree trimming, plant and weed removal, etc. There were misunderstandings during the general maintenance phase that could not be resolved quickly because a supervisor was not on site. This resulted in several phone calls with office staff relaying messages back to the field. The staff left the site without saying anything to me and the work I expected to be done was not done so they had to come back a second time. During this process I was also working with them on designing the new landscape they would install. After the initial quote for the new landscape I wanted to make some changes which took weeks. When the project manager was finally scheduled to come out to review the changes he missed the first appointment and was late for the second. I was supposed to have a new quote within a few days. It’s been months. I’ve given up on them.

Just had this company replace more than 100 railroad tie steps and paths in the yard. Bidder, Jason, was great at quoting and re-​quoting the job as I changed specs, etc. Once hired for the job, they worked non-​stock until completing the project. I made several changes and had a few requests which were completed without complaint or extra charges. The foreman, Jose, was easy to work with and a master at laying out the stairs and creating an inviting entry to our garden. After completion, all areas were cleaned and left better than when started. This company also has a division that trims trees, etc. I’ve used them the last 3 or 4 years, and have been very happy with this work as well.

My family needed a landscape company for a renovation and installation of the patio area in our backyard and my dad put it on me to find a company to do it; I called Southern California and Leslee in the office was very friendly and sent one of their supervisors who is the head of their construction division out the next day and gave me an affordable estimate, as well as walked me through what would be taking place and the timeline. The new fire pit, barbeque, and plants really transformed the area and my family loves the outcome. Thanks guys!
