There’s a reason why you don’t see pictures of the locker room. Simply because it’s disgusting the way they keep it. Corrosion everywhere, smelly and dirty carpet, old and rusted lockers, showers not working properly, 99.9% the AC is not working so it’s steamy and nasty. There’s always something broken at all times and it takes forever to repair. The bottom line is that the owner wants to collect money but not spend any in keeping this club in a decent shape.

Love this gym. They offer it all ! Prices are a little high but it’s exclusive. I’ve also had a party in the banquet here and the catering service was amazing. Professional, reasonable and family owned by the De Alba family who’s attention to detail and professionalism made my event a huge success ! Food & service always great !

We had our son’s wedding here and it was excellent! A one stop shop for Elegance — Carlos, Rosa and crew made everything so simple and so elegant! The food was delicious, the set up and décor amazing, the flowers perfection. South End was a perfect venue and Diane the banquet coordinator was very helpful. We could not be happier with everything. They take care of it all! And the rates are extremely reasonable. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You! #LoveSouthEnd

I let my family membership lapse as I don’t have the time and my son has no interest in swimming any more.: (Otherwise, this is a great family friendly health club. Parking has never been an issue and there’s childcare at a reasonable price. It seems less busy in the fall once school starts and with summer memberships expiring. There is a chiropractor office on site as well which is convenient.
South End is high end and looks the part, at least on the outside. With the lighted fountains and a very large, classy banquet room, this is a very nice venue for special events.
The pools are beautiful with a resort-​like feel and the café serves decent food. (The pool is populated with many school children whom I recognize which makes a private swim session a little challenging. LOL!)
I really appreciate that the machines are plentiful and there is no competition with the treadmills or weight room on any given week night. The staff is pretty much hands off too.
Considering this is a higher end type of health club, I was expecting a nicer women’s locker room. It could use an update.
I’ve never taken advantage of the tennis courts which I heard are hard to get a session in or taken the pilates classes but wish I had done so. If my schedule changes significantly, I’d consider signing up again for another membership.

I like the women’s gym and the facilities are okay – although the locker rooms are way overdue for a remodel. Would have given more stars but they have a serious front desk issue. Wth is wrong with some of these girls at the front desk? Some of them not all – some in particular, always seem in bad mood and give me the stink eye. It’s poor customer service and reflects badly on the gym. I don’t pay $$$ to get that kind of treatment. I’ve had more pleasant encounters with the sweet cleaning ladies.

South End has two pools and an outdoor café to grab drinks/​lunch which is very convenient.
The staff is always really friendly and make it a point to get to know each and every member.
The weightroom equipment has been updated with state of the art matrix brand. which is great for both men and women.
There is also a women’s only gym available, with a variety of cardio and weight equipment.
I would highly recommend this club for families and people of all ages!

This is a nice big gym with a lot to offer. They have a ton of classes of a large variety. My personal favorites are the spin classes. You can usually get a spot which is a lot nicer than a lot of guns that fill you these classes quickly. It’s a lot of older people at the gym which is nice for younger women that are looking for a peaceful workout without the ‘meat market’ feel.
Theres a large heated pool and plenty of tennis courts. I haven’t played tennis here because it’s a more expensive membership, but it’s definitely tempting!
They have adequate facilities. My main complaint is that the changing rooms are old and haven’t been updated in a while. The staff is nice and professional. The weight and cardio and stretching rooms are nice.

Only three courts are available for reservations — kinda ridiculous and inconvenient.

The pools are the best part of this club! Good for families with little ones.
Beware of the food that is prepared by the pool area. The catering department handles money and then slaps chicken on the grill without washing their hands! They also use their fingers to flip it over. This is pretty gross. Saw it with my own eyes! They need to get a new caterer who knows about food safety. So much for Elegant Dining!
The women’s locker room is disgustingly dirty! The lockers are all smashed in. Remodel time!!!
Plus the people working here are not the friendliest!

Great place to spend a weekend. We had a padel tournament there. Great amenities and nice people.
I like all the different activities that they had to offer especially padel.

First I usually go in the e evening. Now that schools out this place is loud with a bunch of screaming kids in the locker room ,
When they are in the pool they are running around playing catch in the pool while people are trying to do laps.
Second the facilities locker room are old 70s my guess, when I go at night the bathrooms smell like urine and there’s trash
So there building a club house not exclusive
While the locker rooms and saunas need a up grade .
Positive would be all the courts are nice ‚
This place is not a CLUB its is Big gym with different facilities
The only reason I joined was due to price and what I thought was a club environment
What I received was a under cleaned and maintained gym that has a big facility .
If compared to Equinox where equipment and lockers have a staff that actually clean them. When my year is up I’m out unless they spend money on upgrades,

Been going here since I was five, place is pretty much filled with retired people. If you like privacy and a gym that is not occupied ²⁴⁄₇ like 24 hour fitness then this place is great. There main attraction is mainly tennis but they have pools and many other things that come along with a membership.

We have been members of South End for more than 20 years. It is a fantastic club.
We absolutely love the lap pool and the kiddie pool, they are both great facilities for those with families.
I have attended several yoga and group fitness classes here, and though a lot of the clientele is older, that doesn’t bother me. I can still get in a fantastic workout there.
They just remodeled the cardio room and the women’s gym, and both are fantastic. I love the flexibility of having the women’s only gym so I don’t get oggled.
The personal trainers here are top notch. Travis is my favorite one though, and he is nationally certified through NASM. He has helped with my diet and developed a personal fitness plan for me that works with my problem areas. (I have knee issues).

Had a family membership here in the 90’s, much improved and now I recently joined a newer and improved facility. the staff is excellent and friendly, housh the gen. man is very responsible and accountable… they had a $ 200 initial fee to join, lowest i’ve ever heard in many years… plus a military discount as well. Swimming is great, you can’t give low stars bc you fail to tell kids to get out of the lanes… this club is worth 5 stars… not two bc you are afraid of conflict w/​children or to open your mouth and ask parents to be accountable for their kids… improvements are still in the works.
Very complete, clean, refreshing club in the south bay, possibly the best.

My family and I have been members for many years, we are always there! The camaraderie and friendliness of members and staff make you want to come back over and over again. The amenities include indoor and outdoor jacuzzis, steam room, sauna, outdoor pools, gym, cardio rooms, and a variety of courts for racquet, tennis, padel, basketball and more. There’s some great food available if you don’t wanna leave the swimming pool side. There’s always an event happening in there, the banquet manager is super efficient.

Positives

— Full schedule of good quality instructor led classes part of membership
— Helpful desk and support staff
— Friendly café service — soon to be expanded
— Great additional women-​only gym
— Friendly family crowd — lots of seniors but also a lof of younger families especially around the pool — not your singles scene though
— Kids new pool is very nice for younger families
Negatives
— Men’s locker needs serious upgrade — a step down from exterior look and feel — locker old, no ventilation in showers, carpeted floor smells
— Racketball and squash are second hand sports — areas need better maintenance, upgrade, carpeting, ventillation, floors
— Gym equipment is okay — not very modern
Overall a reasonably good club in the south bay /​torrance area but with potential to be much better and upscale if management paid attention to needs of some of the niche customers beyond the pool/​tennis, invested a bit on the above items

I’ve been a member of this club for about 15 years. It has a very nice family vibe in it. Great for kids and adults especially if you play tennis. Courts are almost always available and for the most part they are well kept.
It can be a bit noisy with the adjacent airport but overall it is a good value for the money as long as you use all the facilities.

I’m a swimmer, and that’s mainly the way I choose to get my workout in.
South End has 2 pools, a shallow kiddie pool; and a small 25 yard lap pool.
The annoying thing is that it’s pretty much a free for all at the lap pool:
–My biggest peeve is the kids in floaties who swim across the lanes of the lap pool, literally cutting you off mid-​lap.
–Not too many members there really seem to know the etiquette of lap swim. But when people see what you’re dealing with as far as the kids are concerned; they’ll usually let you squeeze into a lane with them.
–The parents who take their kids there for whatever reason seem to skip the kiddie pool. And they make no apologies for the rudeness of their children (who shouldn’t be playing in the lap pool anyway). Seems like they dump there kids there and let them do whatever just because they don’t want to deal with them.
I joined this club because I was tired of swimming at gyms.
I was hoping the members at the racquet club would have a little more respect for those trying to actually swim laps.
It would be nice if the club monitored the pool, and was more conscientious of members who need to use the pool to get a workout in.
Kids, especially those that cannot swim –belong in the kiddie pool.
Nice facilities, but don’t think I’ll be renewing my membership.
Only a few lanes in the lap pool –and dealing with the non-​swim crowd there is tiresome.

I played a USTA tennis league match here last year. South End is a very nice club with a good sized stadium court that offers shade to the viewers, a large pool, jacuzzi, gym, locker rooms, restaurant, and children’s pool.
I played on the courts near the entrance during the day and they were clean, well kept (good windscreens and side fences), and medium slow (tennis players will know what I mean). The lights looked nice, but I didn’t play at night, so I can’t say if they are bright. It can get a bit windy in the Torrance area, so that’s the only negative, but overall an excellent club!
