Pleasure Island

I loved this place until today. I came early today and arrived just in time to see two young female employees open the shop up. They were yelling and very obnoxious in the parking lot. After they opened the shop they both sat outside and smoked and talked. This is NOT welcoming in the least. I’m all for having fun but I do expect some level of professionalism at an adult store. I ended up leaving without even bothering to go in.

This shop really is a hidden gem. Needed a gift for a friends Bday. Everybody was so helpful. Very polite, helped with personal shopping, answered all my questions in a professional manner. The shop is very nice and would be something you might walk into if it were in the mall, like a fancier Spencers, even nicer than the Hustler store in my opinion. Not gross or weird. The back half is the larger part it seems and where all of the adult items were. It’s a very nice store, looks like it’s geared towards couples or first timers in adventure play in the bedroom or shower or any other place you can imagine. They have party supplies for bachelorette parties, couples items for romantic relaxing get ways such as candles and message oils. There were lots of lingerie outfits to choose from. They had a little bit of everything. I’d go again.

I discovered this place due to its cheesy TV ads that you might see on late night TV cable access (cue in the Wayne & Garth impressions) so I decided to give it a whirl because it was down the street from my doctor’s office. So, I popped into this place expecting it to be dark and smelling of seamen. It was nothing like that. If I had seen video booths, I would have left and not looked back without composing this review. The store was bright and inviting. They have the bedroom toys in a different room than the DVDs. The females will like that. I browsed around, said hi the the clerk and left. The prices seemed reasonable but I’m no expert.

The store times on Unilocal,their shop window and over the phone says they close at midnight! Drove all the way from Manhattan beach only to be disappointed that the doors were locked!!! Such an inconvenience.

I had driven by this place a thousand times before stopping in. I mean, it’s a video game store, why would I need to go here?
Oh, it’s a sex shop? Oh, wait, really? Yes, please.
I’m really immature, so even though I’m well over 18 years old, I still feel like a teenager sneaking into an R-​rated movie when I visit sex shops. Sorry, dildos are funny. Porn is really funny.
Anyway, this place is a classy establishment. They also have a huge selection of lingerie, toys and DVDs. I spent a fair amount of time looking at the DVDs — they have a bargain bin. I think it’s buy two get one free. Um, BARGAIN!
There’s a parking lot in the back — easy in, easy out.

I came here with my boyfriend and the staff is very nice and helpful. They are there to answer any of your questions but aren’t overwhelming or in your face. They let you shop in peace. When I did have a question the employees know their products and truly keep you informed. They were all professional and helpful. I would definitely come back to this location. The shop has a great selection of videos and toys. Don’t be fooled when you walk in, the back has so much merchandise. Great location, great selection, great staff!

Parents leave your kids at home. Kids not welcome in this store and for good reason. Yes, my friend and I were told by the attendants that this has happened in the past, crazy I know. When entering all you see is some lingere and costumes. If you want to see more you have to go through a door that leads to the fun stuff. They had a great selection of toys, costumes, and bondage paraphernalia. The staff was very friendly and helpful (if we needed it). They offered to take stuff out of packaging if we wanted a better look or feel of an item. The staff was friendly and offered discounts on bachelorette party bag supplies. Great place to go if this is your first or 50^th time in a «Play» store.

Their service is good. The location was a bit hard but just call them lol. Other than that, they have tons and tons of selections of «things» and «other things». The lady gave me a discount for having trouble finding the place. Definitely going to come back

I really did enjoy this store. It’s clean inside and the staff are really friendly! It’s split into two. The first half is lingerie and boas and such. I really love the selections they have! The back half is where they carry everything else! They have many varieties of porn which is nice. My favorite part was the shower section and fetish section! I love that I don’t feel awkward or uncomfortable being there. If you want to go to an adult store this is the one to go too!

They have a lot of merchandise, but it’s extremely over-​priced. Parking is in the back. great customer service very nice. certain items are not worth the price.

This is an interesting store. I discovered it while looking for somewhere to get a surprise for my lady. The reason I say it is interesting is because the store is actually split into two pieces. I’ll get more into that in a minute.
The store can be kind of difficult to find if you are not paying close attention while driving there. It really doesn’t look like the typical establishment in its industry. Its definitely not overly in your face screaming sex. As some have described it, the outside kind of looks campy. The first time I drove by it, I thought it was a patio furniture place. The store is on Hawthorne Blvd but the entrance is actually on a private parking lot in the rear. That is convenient because it removes a lot of the embarassment people have when going to an adult store.
Next thing is going into the store. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by an employee. I looked around and thought I was in the wrong place. It seemed like all lingerie and stuff for women. Not saying that is a bad thing but the worker immediately read the look of confusion on my face and asked me if it was my first time at the store. I responded «Yes.» At that point, he told me to walk to a door in front of me and then he buzzed me in to that section of the store. This section is where you find all the goods. There weren’t any employees back there but the only exit was the way you came in but past a cash register.
They have a display with staff pics for all their favorite goods. They have the usual collection of goods along one side of the back store. Following the walls, they have a wide selection of toys and novelties. They even had a «shower» section which to be honest, I had never seen before. The back store is very well lit in contrast to most of the shadier establishments that cater to this business. While browsing, I could hear one couple giggling at all the stuff for sale. I also heard the employees in the front of the store engaging in witty banter and welcoming other customers that were entering.
Their customer service is remarkable. They are very friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. You don’t feel sleezy at all being in there regardless of whether you are just spicing things up or looking for a gag gift. Kudos to the PI staff for creating such a positive, wonderful experience.

great store ever!!! the staff is awesome and fab super kind. the don’t make you feel strange or like an oddball in the store. you can ask anything and not feel dumb about it. the store has anything you can think of!!! prices are great!!! i would tell my friends and family to shop here for sure!!! the store looks great inside. it has great lighting in there. some other adult stores are dark and can’t see well in them. pleasure island is the best adult in the south bay!!!

Fantastic assortment of «novelty items, including shoes and «special outfits!» Excellent customer service and the deal is Unilocal deal is phenomenal if you want a large quantity of items.

Love the hours, love the super chill and helpful and non-​creepy staff! I spent most of my time in the DVD/​adult toy section in the back. I was helping my friend buy a virgin-​friendly vibrator, as she is yet to pop the ol’ cherry but wants to have some fun until she decides to do the deed. I recommended a vibrator with a rotating head, but couldn’t find any, so I asked the nice man at the register. He very wisely pointed me to their female staff member, who was also a very nice girl but with very droopy and questionably doped-​up eyelids. She helped my friend find a cute non-​threatening looking vibrator, and did not bat a single droopy eyelid when my friend told her that she was a virgin. Nice professionalism. Although, I must say, I am still bummed that the only rotating head they have in the store is the clunky old Rabbit. Sigh.

I like this place because it’s local, the staff is helpful, and I find some good products most of the time. I don’t buy/​rent videos so I can’t testify to their selection quality, however, I’ve browsed over some titles and they seem to have a decent variety. If I’m bored or just need to kill time I stop in and check out their novelty items and new product. They are open until 2 AM so that’s pretty awesome.
I do enjoy walking around the 18 & over section in the back at 1:45 am and running into security guards that just got off work and need to unwind. They seem shocked to see me but I don’t judge… I tell ‘em…do your thang, work it out ;)

An adult store that’s open until 2am?! SCORE! I love coming here to plan for bachelorette parties or to just pick up something fun for home. The staff is very friendly and they have a very large selection. They have a lot of lingerie and a large selection of funny/​goofy t-​shirts. The staff is very good at making suggestions. They never make you feel uncomfortable or embarrassed. What’s also great about being open until 2am? Feeling frisky last minute after fun night out? Head to Pleasure Island!
Oh, and make sure you bring you ID, you WILL be carded!

I was recently looking for some old Classics like «Debbie Does Dallas» etc… I’ve seen them their before… but not this time.

I’ve been to a few adult stores but I feel like Pleasure Island is tops! First off, the entrance is in the rear… you don’t have to worry about people looking at/​judging you from busy Hawthorne Blvd. As soon as I entered the store, my bf and I were greeted with the happiest sex shop employee I’ve ever encountered! He was extremely helpful and guided us to the back area where toys and videos were located.
After looking for the perfect vibrator for a few minutes, another helpful employee came around and informed us that any toys can be tested in-​store (on your hand.) Now that’s what I call GREAT customer service!
You shouldn’t feel ashamed about going to Pleasure Island because it’s probably as low-​key as it gets. Very quiet atmosphere, wide selection of anything imaginable, and a great staff. Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a lively time alone or with others.

Came in search of a boob cake pan and they had it!
Fun shop, well lit, clean; definitely not one of those seedy get in and get out kinda places. Friendly and helpful staff.
