Japan Tiger Corporation of USA

I grew up eating gohan from one of those electric rice cookers and perfunctory did so until late. Yeah, better than pot cooked and way better than that blasphemous «Uncle Ben’s.» However, the local J market had the Tiger IH 5.5 cupper on sale, so we made the plunge ($ 300 cannonball to be precise — no forget, on sale!).
Ooooooooooooooooh, wish I had plunged many years ago. Makes perfect rice… from short grain to Jasmine to 6 grain. And, it does «okoge» rice, too, for those of you that love the slightly burnt rice on the bottom of the pot. Also makes porridge and BREAD! I tried the bread and failed miserably, but that was more user error cuz I didn’t bother to read the manual. I like to «wing it» from time to time, but paid the price w/​a ½ baked lump of dough. As for porridge, that’s sick people food, so hopefully I never have to use that cuz it means someone is illing.
Love the timer feature and the pot that is sturdy enough to deflect a bullet. Last, love that the rice cooker is «Made in Japan.» I’m old enough to remember when that was a joke. Now, like «Made in the USA,» it’s a label I look for.
