A family owned and operated facility, All Star Pet Resort in Torrance, California provides caring, affordable pet boarding and grooming. We are a dog and cat boarding facility with staff on duty 24⁄7 to offer a safe place for your pet to stay while you are away. With unique day boarding and spacious overnight kennels, we are proud to be your pet’s home away from home!

At All Star Pet Resort, we subscribe to the highest pet industry standard in the care of your pet. Our kennel runs provide spacious accommodations and our dual runs allow each pet to run freely between indoors and outdoors in a natural, fresh air environment. Each run is private and each of our three buildings house different size dogs with different size indoor/​outdoor areas.

Our cat boarders stay in a separate area with two-​story condos to enjoy some peace and quiet. Additionally, our resort has play yards and large individual outdoor runs for playtime so your pet can get some exercise! While your dog or cat is boarding with us, consider grooming, too. Our grooming services are offered with the same loving care that we provide in our kennels.

History

Established in 1971.

Since opening our doors in 1971, All Star Pet Resort has been a cornerstone of the dog and cat community in Torrance, California. We have always made it a practice to work with rescue groups for both dogs and cats. Additionally, we belong to The Better Business Bureau, The International Boarding and Pet Services Association and the Humane Society of the United States. A visit to our unique pet hotel and you can see why we are so proud of our great dog and cat facility and our reputation! I could not for the life of me understand how this place got soo many positive reviews and then realized alot of it was for the grooming service. This review is for the boarding facility only NOT grooming or the staff.
I came by to see the facility before boarding my pets. I am soo glad I did because I will NEVER bring them here. The tour of the kennels was soo depressing. It smelled awful and was soo noisy. The woman taking me on tour was speaking so nicely to the animals (she was really nice) but most of them were so anxious and scared and clearly hated being there despite what she told me (I work at an animal hospital and have for a very long time… I know what anxious, depressed, and scared look like). This place looks like a shelter… I really felt like I was wandering the cages looking to adopt one of these poor souls. The photos on Unilocal do not represent the kennels one bit. I suggest anyone who has boarded in the past or may board in the future to take a tour.

This place is a godsend. We were in the middle of a move and couldn’t keep our dog. They were so understanding and helped us through this hard time. Everytime I called the day of, they let me come in that afternoon and board my dog with no hesitation. All the employees were so caring and loving they treated our pitty Brutus like he was their own baby. They constantly gave me updates on my dog and we’re so accommodating to my requests and needs. If it wasn’t for this place I don’t think we could’ve kept our dog. Now happy to say we have our dog in our new house but still can’t say enough about this place to everyone I meet. Thank you all so much for being there for us, You are the best!!!

This place is unbelievable. After literally having your dog caged up for more than 9 hours this place has made the ULTIMATE mistake ever! The groomer here literally gave my mom the wrong dog! I sent her to go pick u my poodle terrier mix and once she brought the dog home I freaked! My dog needed his medication otherwise he could have a seizure. Thankfully nothing happened to him. She never apologized nor did she acknowledge her mistake. I have definately reported her to the Better Business Bureau. I can’t believe they are till in business after keeping dogs for over 9 hours at a time! I understand they are cheap, but that does not mean our dogs should suffer!

I moved from Europe with two very nervous cats. Unfortunately the temporary accommodation wouldn’t allow animals so we had to find somewhere for my cats to stay for a month.
All Star Pet Resort was fantastic! They looked after my boys as if they were their own. They now have a couple of American Aunties and a safe, comfortable place where they can go at anytime we go on vacation.
The staff are friendly and real animal lovers. They were happy for me to come and visit everyday and the cat condos were always clean and replenished.
My very nervous cats loved this place and the cat condos are very spacious (they even have soothing music playing at all times to keep them company).
Thank you All Star Pet Resort, you truly are ALL STARS!!!

They say to bring the dogs by 2pm. My wife did. We waited and waited. At 9:30 we were still waiting with some other people, we didn’t get him until 10:30. This lady is nice, but does not manage her business effectively. Our guy was extremely hungry and thirsty once we got him.

My husband and I recently lost our apt and desperately need help with a safe place for our girls (our 70 lb lab mix and our little wawa mix). Our dogs are our life and family so you can imagine what a hard time we were having with just the concept of having with the idea of boarding them and having them not know what was going on or where we were. As soon as I called and spoke with Melinda for a couple min, I knew I had found and affordable place that would keep our girls safe and cared for. Kim, the owner, was well, is so warm and kind hearted. the customer experience is very comforting considering, its always hard to leave your pet and best friend with people you, essentially, don’t know. Also, I was delighted to learn someone is on the grounds 24 hours a day so someone always looked in on them consistently.
When I walked in I smelled cleaner and grooming products, which is reassuring. The last time I had to kennel Rhyno, she came back with kennel cough and subsequently got pneumonia, so it was a relief to smell cleanliness first thing. I was able to set them up in an XL kennel which has a generous outdoor space and a spring loaded bed area (where you can bring your own blankets/​bed so they have they’re sent from home) which I especially appreciated because, Rhyno, my large dog, has hip dysplasia. Also, they were able to stay together (which also worked out to be less expensive) and I know that helps them be comfortable in the drastic scenery change. they were wonderful about allowing me to come see the girls anytime I liked. I was allowed to take them to the play yard (which you can also purchase for 15 min for only $ 3 per pet) and spend time with them and love them up and play with them. This was so great because it made me feel better to go and reassure them it was only a temporary situation and they’d be home soon.
All star pet resort was so helpful and wonderful in our time of need and I would certainly recommend them to anyone who needs temporary boarding. I was very weary about the whole thing and they really came through in every way and are worth every affordable penny.

My dog loves it here! The first time I took him here, he was a little scared to be away from me and wanted to stay right by my side. Now when I bring him, he runs straight to the owners and can’t wait to spend some time with them. You can tell that they really care about pets and they always take good care of my dog. The rates are very reasonable and you can pay a little extra for playtime or short walks down the street. The longest my dog has stayed here is 10 days and when I pick him up he seems happy and healthy. I would recommend All Star Pet Resort to anyone looking for a place where they actually care about your pets and take good care of them.

I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1 because the woman running the place is so nice and because I suppose we could have had a worse experience with boarding our dog.
We took our dog here about a year ago because it was less expensive than most other places. That should have been a red flag. When we picked up our dog, they didn’t give us back his toy that we had left there with him. That wasn’t that big of a deal, and had I realized it wasn’t in the bag when we left they probably would have gone to find it. The bigger problem is that the poor little guy was INFESTED with fleas, and he is severely allergic to them. We had him on topical flea treatment, and he most certainly did not have fleas when we left him there. He also had a giant scab on his back that appeared to be from some kind of cut. That really concerned me.
So his allergies were in full gear, which results in severe skin irritation, stubborn ear infections in both ears, and lots of $$ at the vet. So much for saving money by boarding him there! Would have been less expensive in the end if we had just taken him somewhere else.
I recommend VCA Kennel Club Resort and Spa. More expensive but definitely worth it.

This is the most least expensive I’ve paid a pet groomer, $ 30 for a shampoo, nails clipped, and a doggy hair cut (10lb medium coat terrier mix). If I would have to rate the hair cut itself, I would say it was on par with «petco», maybe a notch better.
One thing I must say about this place is that it gets BUSY, very early also — so it’s best to plan accordingly. They take dogs in on Friday and Saturday at 7:30am. I took my dog in at round 8:05pm. When I arrived, there were already 12 dogs in front of me. My dog’s grooming was finished at around 5−6pm.
My dog didn’t seem too traumatized from his visit, but like what another Unilocaler experienced, he was THIRSTY! When we got home, he went straight to his water bowl and drank it all up.
So overall I had a good experience All Star Pet Resort. I wouldn’t expect fast service, especially on a Saturday as this place gets packed, very early. Leslie the groomer (i think) was extremely friendly, and also had some very competitive pricing.

Their nail trimming was a little unorthodox but it got the job done with my pup, not to mention it was cheap! However I took one look at the other dogs getting groomed/​dry in the kennels and I’m not too sure if I’ll get that done here since they all looked miserable in their kennels! The lady was nice though, so plus one more star for that.

Leslie does a great job!!! My dog was in such bad shape and i dropped her off and Leslie made her like new!!! Even the other dogs we have at home didn’t recognize her! I highly recommend All Star grooming to anyone that is looking to get their dogs like new again. Just an FYI if you go on the weekends get their early as she can get pretty busy!

I feel terrible writing this review, because the lady working in the groomer section is nice. but… Its first come first serve. She opened at 8am. I dropt my dog at 9am. When I arrived to drop my dog off. 20 dogs where already there. My dog was number 21. I saw she had 2 helpers so didn’t think it would take all day. I received a call at 10:00 PM to pick my dog up. 13 HOURS LATER. My dog was so depress and sad. When he came home he drank so much water. I started to cry. He wasn’t himself for 2 days. No lie. My dog was dramatise. Nice lady but she takes in so many dogs. Its not fare to the other dogs to be in a crate for 13 hours

This review is just for the grooming in the back.
I love the groomer, Leslie. My dog is not the most behaved dog when he’s being groomed, so I always get antsy when I do bring him to a groomer. I’ve tried grooming him myself, but it’s just so hectic. Maybe it’s because I don’t have the proper tools.
Before coming to Leslie, I’ve taken my dog to a groomer in Gardena, a groomer located inside his veterinarian’s office, and PETCO. The groomer in Gardena was wonderful, but I stopped going to him either because he closed or he was too far. The groomer at his vet’s office was awful. When Maguire first came out, he looked so cute. I usually carry him out with me, so I didn’t notice until we got home. My dog limped and whined every time he took a step. I looked at his paws and they were shaved down raw –_​_​_​– Needless to say, I never took him back. PETCO was too expensive and took the whole day, so I stopped going there after his first session.
I don’t know how I found Leslie, but I did. I believe she’s there from Wednesday through Saturday. She’s open at 8am to accept her furry little friends. I don’t know what time she closes or what time she stops taking in dogs, but she’s told me before that she’s stayed until midnight finishing dogs.
I’ve come there enough times that she knows Maguire by name, so when I drop him off at 8am, she just asks for my phone number and lets him in. He usually gets picked up at 1pm. I don’t ask for a fancy haircut. I just ask her to shave him down.
After each haircut, she sprays Maguire with this unbelievably wonderful smelling cologne and a handkerchief around his neck.
My dog’s about 25lbs and his haircut is $ 35.

This review is for grooming.
I usually wait way too long to get my shitzu-​poodle groomed. Shes usually matted a little when I take her in and places usually charge $ 50-​$ 65 to shave her down. She hates going to the groomers and gets really nervous so Im pretty picky about where I take her. I like her to be in and out.
All Star doesn’t take appointments. I usually would not be okay with this, but it actually seemed to work better for the groomer. She got my pup out in less then 4 hours. Great timing for grooming. She opens early, which is added convenience!
My dog usually looks pretty stupid after grooming… being shaved is not her best look. But her hair grows like crazy and thats the only way I get her cut now. They did a good job… but it wasn’t a fancy cut.
The groomer was nice & she handled my dog well… considering shes was a nervous wreck.
All this and it only cost $ 30!!! I’m never taking her anywhere else!
