Hey guys! My boyfriend and I decided to go on a vacation to the Niagara Falls and not book any hotels(not such a good idea!). We wanted to stay close enough to the falls so we wouldn’t have to drive very far the next morning to see them, but we wanted to get a decent hotel at a reasonable price. After searching Unilocal and seeing a common pattern of mediocre hotels, bed bugs, and out dated décor we took a chance on Microtel Inn. First off, if you have a family, or more than a queen bed will fit, this is not the hotel for you; all the rooms are equipped with only one queen bed(perfect for a couple). We got the impression that this hotel was for the business type. Granted the room was slightly dated, it was surprisingly comfortable. However, the bed we had was incredibly stiff. Their continental breakfast was pretty typical. Microtel Inn’s staff was excellent. The lady was very nice and friendly. The hotel itself is located down a «dead-end road» by some apartments, but you need a key card to be able to get into the building. They also tell you which door to park by, as to minimize luggage carrying. I’m not certain, but I don’t believe there is an elevator(no worries though, front desk asked us if we wanted first or second floor). For last minute hotel finding for a COUPLE or SINGLE person, I highly recommend this hotel. Great deal and thank you Microtel Inn for a great stay in Tonawanda!

Watch out for the snarling, sizable night woman! I mean, WHOA! I arrived just after midnight on a Friday night /Saturday morning thinking I had made a reservation on Priceline. It turns out that I somehow reserved a week later than I thought. The price difference? $ 90! She snapped at me about the holiday weekend, too. Holiday… in Buffalo? I saw no crowds. Whatever, at that point in the night and without a reservation, I wasn’t exactly motivated to shop around other hotels. So we paid, checked in, and went to our rooms… only after Sergeant warned me repeatedly to cancel with Priceline or face extra fees. Thanks for caring. Luckily, it was all up from there. The room was non-smoking, smelled fine, was perfectly clean, and was actually inviting. It reminded me of a cruise ship cabin, in a good way. I slept well on the bed but paid for it later; I believe the back pain I felt until the middle of the following week was due to that darn mattress. Ease of access is a delight with this one. It’s located right off the highway. You absolutely cannot get lost trying to find it. The army of high tension wires next door wasn’t my favorite, but I coped. The bottom line is that this place is probably as good of a balance as you’re going to get between having cleanliness and security while not going broke at the Hilton or Ritz. I’d go back.

Surprisingly clean but very tiny accommodations. Little off the main road but still accessible to many amenities nearby. Puce décor. terrible interior design. But clean. An OK choice to stay for the night. Beats sleeping in the car. Many hotels in the Niagara and Buffalo area were booked with flyers who were delayed due to Hurricane Irene. Apparantly a top rated hotel in Tonawanda according to TripAdvisor.

We stayed here a few nights ago in the middle of a road trip. I had stayed in a Microtel so I knew what to expect — a teensy room with no frills, but whatever you need for a quick night sleep. A note — if you have never stayed in a Microtel, these rooms are very small and will really only comfortably sleep 2 people who don’t mind sleeping in the same bed, and POSSIBLY a small child(like under age 5). Otherwise, look elsewhere — you will be very uncomfortable. It’s just the concept of the hotel line. Each room has a queen bed and a single window-seat type bed that will not really fit an adult. Everything was as it should be — clean room/bathroom, free WiFi, decent TV options. This property is quite close to the highway so there is some freeway noise but it didn’t bother us. It is plopped between two residential areas and feels safe. There was free breakfast in the morning but we did not partake, as we were more interested in finding a Tim Horton’s nearby: o) Front desk staff was friendly and accommodating. Met our needs just fine, and at $ 50 I’m not sure you could find much better.

My husband and I stayed at Microtel Inn on our way back from a road trip to Canada. As it was the thanksgiving weekend all the hotels in the area were full. We got a room here for $ 79 which was not too bad considering the possibility of not getting a room at all! The guy at the front desk was super nice. We checked our room b4 paying and were really surprised. The hotel looks run down with unimpressive carpets and really long hallways… But once we entered the room it was neat and clean and the towels in the bathroom didn’t have the cheap motel smell! The sink was old but clean! So, we decided to take the room that included breakfast in the morning. The breakfast was one of the best I’ve had at a hotel. They had muffins, bagel cream cheese and waffles! The coffee was super good. Again the manager was really attentive and made sure everyone was taken care of :). The hotel needs a renovation but the manager is super duper good!
