Lincoln Park Market

I had visited Lincoln Park Market for beer, snacks, and milk half a dozen times before it even occurred to me to ask myself why the insides of this establishment were so spacious. Even then, I thought, «Oh, it must be a cookie and chip emporium. Oh well.»
The other day, I popped in to pick up a six pack only to walk out with a six pound bag of rice, a bagful of spice, and enough frozen thingamajigs and nomnoms to outlast our recent blizzard.
Lincoln Park Market carries a full selection of Indian food, ranging from frozen dinners to frozen fish, rice, spices, teas, and sweets. I should note that they do not carry any fresh fruits, vegetables, or meats. They do not stock prepared items, either.
Prices for these goods are in fact fairly steep, comparable to other ethnic speciality foods stores such as Hana Mart or Sung’s.
Service is dry, but it can be surprisingly helpful as well. Ask the cashier, and he may take you on a tour of the store or recommend you one of his favorite products. While there, he did help me select several different teas, none of which, might I add, numbered among the most expensive there.

The post office is in the back and is a full service United States Post Office station, but they only take cash so come prepared. If your local post office has long lines, this is a great place to go to send packages or buy stamps.
The grocery store is an Indian grocery full of wonderful smells and great supplies. Great selection of spices, pulses, and Indian treats. Definitely the place to go to buy lentils, rice, and other bulk Indian goods. I haven’t stumbled across enough Indian groceries around here to compare prices but it seems pretty affordable.
