Technically, it’s only half of the wood house Wyatt lived in with Mattie when he was in Tombstone, and half of an adobe structure that was built next door. The two put together make this charming little refurbished house. It’s completely free to walk in and look around. Every room, including the bathroom has pieces of art for sale. Some of the paintings, many of the OK Corral shoot-out or the Earp brothers, have frames made from wood removed from Wyatt’s house during the refurbishments. The lady holding down the fort was quite nice. She showed us pictures of the reconstruction, and explained that since Wyatt’s house didn’t really have a kitchen all of the cooking was done at Virgil’s which was kitty corner from the house. When we went outside we noticed the corner diagonally across the street was under construction and will soon open as Virgil’s bed and breakfast. None of the furniture in the house was owned by Wyatt or Mattie and was simply brought in to give visitors an idea of what it might look like. Since the place is predominantly an art gallery, that just happens to be in Wyatt’s house, it’s completely free to come in and look around.
