Pro Dunk Hoops

It’s easy to claim 30+ years in business when you operate out of your house like Pro Dunk does! I found rust on my system brand new out of the box. This is a KNOWN and REOCCURRING issue for their systems. Any bad review submitted to their website doesn’t get posted. Here are some similar complaints.

Super shaddy. Their website is full of fake reviews and fake data like «rigidity index». Charge extra for rust free coating but I can guarantee they don’t add anything at all. All the poles are the same finish, just a up charge. Why would you even sell a pole that would corrode? I would strongly suggest taking a look at Treefrogs Ryval line. Custom made, also local to Houston, cheaper and better. Spent a long time researching these and the online brands and very happy with Ryval.

Chose the Pro Dunk based on the testimonials. While only 6 months in, happy to report I have not been disappointed. It’s been extremely solid, height adjustment crank remains smooth and its passed the «hang test» with 200+ pound guys more than once. :) Have recommended to several friends already.

These guys are still unwilling to do anything about the rusting issue I called about months ago, unbelievable! I ordered the «rust armor protection» or whatever they call it, that was hundreds of dollars extra, and this thing starts rusting less than a year after I got it. Also, some issues I’ve noticed since I’ve had the goal, if you crank this goal down to a height around 6 feet, it will literally hang down into your driveway at least 4 feet. That means that every time my kids lower it to dunk on it and I come home, I have to get out of the car, crank it back up, which I’ll note that is way harder to crank than it should be, and then I can pull my car into the garage. Thank god I haven’t backed into it yet, but it’s bound to happen.
Another reviewer pointed out the phony reviews on their website, it’s true. They don’t use third party review sites like Unilocal and Google, because they can’t control those. I’m fairly sure that they put a bunch of fake reviews up on their website, and act like they are real reviews. I mean, they literally say that they have hundreds of reviews, and really none of them are the least bit critical. If they actually wanted to be accredited, they would use a third party review site, but they won’t ever do that. They know that their products are inferior to the bigger brands like Goalrilla. I wish I would have picked up a Goalrilla or something similar, my neighbor down the street has had one for years with no issues, and his doesn’t crank down so low that it blocks the driveway, and the paint and backboard still look great.

I purchased a 72″ Pro Dunk Platinum for $ 1600 February 2012. It was shipped to my house in Chandler, AZ from Houston, TX. This company was easy to work when ordering the system. I had a professional concrete company lay the court and set the base for the basketball system. The assembly was straight forward. I had no problems with the system and my kids have enjoyed playing basketball. Until this summer of 2013, when temperatures at our normal 110, dust storms, and rain. During a Micro Burst storm the back board shattered and covered the entire court with shards of glass. It was a disaster and a huge clean up. The next day I emailed Ryan with Pro Dunk Hoops after I had received a promotion email from him. Here is our Conversation:
ME: Great timing about my hoop. Last night a micro burst hit our subdivision and took out the backboard. Here is a pic and video to prove it. Let me know if this something covered by a warranty from Pro Dunk Hoops.
ProDunk: Whoa, I’ve heard of those before but have never really had any experience with them. Unfortunately, mother nature is not covered under the warranty. We do have replacements in stock though. You can call to order. $ 889.00 shipped, no sales tax.
I don’t know what your deductible is but if you had other damage you might consider having home owners insurance pay for it. I can send you a formal quote if you’d like to go that route. You could have them pay for installation as well.

Then I sent a message to them through facebook offering to pay $ 450 for the replacement since it was Mother Nature’s fault. Their response was Sorry we do not negotiate on price per policy.
Bottom line if you want a cheap basketball system alternative to a GOALRILLA System and do not expect any warranty coverage or a company that will stand behind their product then this is the place for you.
As for me I’m stuck to a monopolized company who knows once I have purchased their system i have no options in buying from anyone else to replace a backboard destroyed by some rain, wind, and heat.
