If I could rank in the negatives I would! I call and place an order to go for breakfast and lunch and I had a question about their French toast regarding its size and how good does it taste and the lady taking my order not only places me on a long hold, but hangs up on me! So I end up having to call back this time with the manager answering the phone and told me she had my order of a double meat cheeseburger with JUST cheese easy lettuce and tomatoes and ketchup with some fries and I finally get my question answered about the French toast so I end up ordering that as well! I go inside the restaurant to pick up and pay for my food and the manager rolls her eyes when she sees me and when I try having a polite conversation with her, she doesn’t say much back to me and when she does it is in a RUDE tone! So I just pay for my food, tell them«have a good morning» and walk out. I get home and I take the first bite of my burger and it has exactly the stuff that I didn’t ask for which was pickles, onions, mustard, and mayo when I specifically said JUST cheese, easy lettuce and tomatoes, and ketchup meaning those are the only items I want on the burger! So I call back to explain to them they got my burger wrong and the manager responds by saying, «Well you didn’t say you didn’t want pickles, onions, mustard, and mayo» and I responded, «I should not have to specify that because I did say JUST cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and ketchup meaning the only things I want on the burger!» I also said that«When I order a burger at another restaurant and I say JUST cheese lettuce, tomato, and ketchup, they know EXACTLY what I am talking about!» so she responds in a rude tone, «What do you want me to do about it?» I said, «How about a refund? Ya’ll messed up my burger!» She says, «We don’t give out refunds and I don’t appreciate how you talked to one of my staff! I asked, „What on earth are you talking about?!“ and she responds that» In a conversation about French toast, you said something inappropriate when you asked, «Is the French toast as tasty and beautiful as you?» which is NOT what I said at all! At that point, I was very angry and I responded, «I NEVER said that and I asked about the SIZE of the French toast and I wanted to know how good it tastes and if it’s a favorite amongst all customers!» She responds, «Well, we cant tolerate inappropriate talk to our staff, I can make you a free burger but you no longer can go back to this restaurant» and I responded by saying, «Forget the free burger!» and I hung up the phone because I knew what I was saying was right and I was getting the short end of the stick as a high paying customer who was a regular of theirs for quite a while and I felt incredibly disrespected because not only did my burger get messed up, they didn’t give me a refund back for it and accused me of saying something that I didn’t say and because the word of the staff matters more than the word of the customer, who is supposed to be «always right», I ended up getting banned from the restaurant! All in all, it was the worst service I ever received from any restaurant and I will be taking my business to other restaurants where I know I will get treated right and I wouldn’t come back even if they allowed me to because their motto is that they«treat customers like family» and throughout this whole experience, they made me feel like the complete opposite!

If you’re looking for a country diner then this is it! It isn’t fancy or creative, it is down home country cooking like grandma use to make. We went here for lunch on the recommendation of another foodie. Started off with fried mushrooms, you get 6 to an order. Great batter — apparently they have a magic fryer that turns everything into yummy goodness. Of course, I had the small chicken fried steak. This is a huge portion about half the plate is the steak. The batter to steak ratio is spot on. Crispy batter with tender steak. White gravy is creamy and thick, but needed a bit more pepper for my taste. Husband got the chicken tender basket. Again the batter was magical. The chicken moist and tender. Delicious! Sides: 1. Mashed potatoes — we both got and these are scratch made, which we could tell from the small amount of lumps and the texture. 2. Fried okra– the best around. Crunchy exterior with juicy okra, not mushy or frozen tasting. 3. Onion rings– oh my! The best we’ve found thus far. The batter had salt and pepper seasoning and tremendous crunch all the way through. The onions were tender and piping hot. We really wanted to try the banana pudding, but they give you so much food we couldn’t even finish our plates. Definitely plan to return for breakfast.

This is a great little mom and pop store where one may see regulars gathering in old-fashioned fellowship. I enjoyed the grits and eggs. Our waitress was friendly and offered good selections. Once again I say that with good waitstaff the food can suffer slightly and still get a good review.

pancakes have no flavor. taste like pure flour with a bit water. chili tastes like very spicy Manwich. eggs and coffee were good. requested crispy bacon, it wasn’t. have been here before but these last two visits have been bad, so this is the final visit. also there is an undeniable odor in the bathrooms – like terpentine.

My husband & I went today. Walked in with another couple. We were told to wait outside(it was raining!) Really you have the nerve ! The other couple were not asked the same. We are Hispanic. I felt discriminated. Won’t return to spend my money there.

Good home style café. I liked that they put my order of milk in the freezer until my breakfast was ready. Extra touch.

The negative reviews are unjustified we had excellent service and the food was very good we will definetly be back. This is an old hole in the wall place don’t expect it to be as nice as a franchise restaurant. There is a slight musty smell and the seats are old but honestly what counts is the quality of food and service especially when it’s a work lunch

I should have walk out as soon as I walked in. This place smelled like cancer or a dirty ashtray, take your pick. The vibe wasn’t the quaint country charm you’d expect but more of trailer park meets back alley filthy. My hubby ordered breakfast pork chops and I had chicken fried steak. His chops were tough and not flavorful. My CFS was ok but the gravy was horrible and typical pepper white package gravy. The sides were pretty bad: instant mashed potatoes and watered down veggies. The fries were better than the others and green beans were decent if you have to chose a side. My nephew had pancakes which came out black or burnt. My niece ordered blackberry cobbler and it was super nasty. This is one of those places you leave saying«live and learn» because you’re thinking you should have followed your gut and walked out. Shame on the high reviews that tricked us into coming here. This place is gross.

I ordered the hamburger steak with onion rings. The price was $ 11.25. The price would have been fine if I had received a hamburger steak. What I received instead was a small hamburger Patti smothered in gravy and no bread. I mean jr. Burger small. Now I’m generally easy to please and very seldom complain but thought this worthy of mention to the staff. As disappointed as I was in the meal I was all the more dissapointed in the staffs«Oh well» response. WEWON’T BEBACK!

The smell of the place was the 1st thing I noticed. It’s like a strong mothball odor… but don’t let that stop you. This place has a railroad and oil/gas theme inside with no frills food. They serve breakfast and lunch only. I sampled some of their breakfast items which included the homemade biscuits and gravy with jalapeño sausage gravy on top, the homemade blueberry pancakes and the home fries. They do have breakfast platters which give you a combination of different items, but none of them had pancakes, so I ordered a la carte. The pancakes were good but nothing special. The biscuits and gravy was pretty good and even a little spicy, which was surprising. You could see the chopped up jalapeños in the gravy. The home fries here are chopped up potatoes with onions and were good, similar to ones I make at home. Overall, the service was attentive and friendly. The customer base is what you would expect for the Tomball area.

Came in on a late busy Saturday morning. Waited for a server to seat me but didn’t realize you can sit wherever. Seat down and just a few seconds a waitress came by to ask me for my drink order. Then she came back with drink order and a menu. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with scramble eggs, home fries, and wheat toast. Waited a while for my food to arrive and understood they were busy. The waitress let me know that my food was on the way. It was worth the wait. The Chicken Fried Steak was battered perfectly and had good flavor in the steak. Each bite had a equal amount of steak to breading ratio. Home fries was cooked perfectly with the onions and had good flavor. Scramble egg was buttery good. Wheat toast has the right amount of butter as well. Overall the service was great and friendly. My waitress always checked up on me to make sure everything was good. Will definitely be back for breakfast.

This is one of our favorite places to come. They recognize us and always make sure to accommodate our little requests. The food is great and plentiful. If you like biscuits and sausage gravy, theirs is awesome. I can’t even finish a small order. Hubby and son love the chicken fried steak. The chicken tenders are great too. My mom loves the club sandwich. Great for the whole family and reasonably priced. Don’t go while on a diet though.

Excellent place. Very local crowd and friendly and caring wait staff and owner. I have not had such good country cooking in a while. In fact, I put their onion rings tied at the top of my all-time list with Freestate Brewery in Lawrence, Kansas and Goode Company Taqueria in Houston. Tender and the onion ring doesn’t pull out of the batter either. I’ll go back just for those, but the rest was also very well done.
