Steve Eastin Studio

This class is unlike all the others that I have taken and just what I need! First of all, Steve, an accomplished actor himself, has an easy way about him that allows the student to find their best within themselves. Do not get me wrong, he coaches, but not with the «holier than thou» attitude that you may find in other teachers out there. He teaches a method of being in the moment and is constantly wanting to help us connect to what we love about this craft and the higher self that we get our inspiration from. His persona seems to attract like-​minded people and everyone in class is supportive and kind. Technically, I find it helpful to find the stillness in the acting since when we do our scenes on camera, it is all close ups and extreme close-​ups. He plays them back in class and points out, real time, what we are unconsciously doing that may hinder our performance on camera. The progress for each student is at their own pace, which means that the results will be long lasting. I cannot emphasize enough how important this class is for every actor. If there were more stars I would have clicked them!

What I like about Steve is that he’s the real deal. He is an acting teacher who is a working actor with straightforward and practical advice. You can audit his class for free, many places do not do that. His feedback is practical and actionable and most importantly pushes you to be present and share an experience. Can’t recommend him highly enough. Check it out especially if you are a young actor working on your technique.

Studying with Steve is about as good as it gets, that’s for sure. He speaks about prioritizing a calm, centered mind. He preaches against the pitfalls of the industry, not getting caught up in stress and nervousness, how to deal with the REALITY of being on set. The best thing about Steve is that he teaches a technique that got me out of my head and into the present. I had spent plenty of time studying Stanislavski and Stella Adler, and getting stuck in my head half the time. I couldn’t find the consistency I was looking for. It was all about going through my head to make «choices» and hope that my choices (or the choices of my acting coach) were right so that a scene played out well. Not so in Steve’s class. He skips the head work altogether and goes right to the heart. Steve provides an environment where you don’t get bogged down in a bunch of hoighty toity acting theory. No academia here! I learned how to simplify my process so that I’m not on set having to imagine some absurd non-​reality or personal memory or make animal noises to connect to my deeper self. I can walk into an audition or onto a set confident and present, not concerned about all the things that could take me out of the moment or cause anxiety or become self-​conscious. I am able to let go and actually BE in the experience. Many other classes teach how to «ACT» so much so that when you do perform, everyone call really see how hard you’re trying and how clearly you are doing just that– «PERFORMING». Let go, get free, get believable, get real and stop acting. Eastin Studio is it!

Great acting school for beginners and veterans alike. Has one of the lower prices in town at $ 195 per 4 classes or $ 60 for a single class. The teacher himself, Steve Eastin, is also a working actor and has numerous movie, tv, and commercial credits to his name, such as roles on Field of Dreams, Black Dahlia, ConAir and even Dexter. I don’t know of a better way to learn the craft than from someone who actually applies his own teachings himself in getting his own acting jobs. You’ll definitely feel at home here if you’re serious about acting, and wont endure needless torture at other schools in town. Audits are free!

More than just an acting class Steve takes you on a life changing journey. He has an undeniable fervor and understanding for life that I have always been searching for. He wants more for you out of this acting class, than you can fathom for yourself when you start studying here. It’s fantastic. Finding my stillness on camera, letting go and emptying out and being free to let the work flow through me has enhanced my acting endlessly. It feels like he took the cork out of my bottled up emotions and let them flow into my work at the precise moments needed. What a beautiful process and surprising journey it’s been, and will continue to be.
He has a skill for seeing each actor for who they are and allowing them to grow at the pace they need to. What you put in you will get out, and he serves as the conduit to take you there — positive reinforcement paired with years of experience in the industry make for the ultimate formula of successful acting ability. I’ve not only gained confidence in my acting but I’ve been able to widen my horizons and take a solid stance on the usually daunting audition process, which essentially is exactly what you need to progress.
Being in Steve’s class is uplifting, fun, progressive, positive and a quite a journey. He’s exactly what you want out of an acting class — he’s compassionate, caring, and full of truth. He brings relevancy to the current industry issues and is always enlightening his students to read more of the good stuff — get educated if you’re gonna be in the biz!
Just breathe. Take the time to invest in yourself — because let’s be honest here, a lot of the acting classes in LA are asking you to invest in them, more than you. With rolling admission, great colleagues, positive environment, relevant resources, dynamic teaching, and finding your ability to deeply emote on demand with your passion for acting — through a teacher who just gets it, you will see a change if you put the work in.

What I have learned from this man cannot be measured in dollars. He’s half Buddha, half irascible old fuck, and all heart. The most important thing Steve helps you discover in yourself is the ability to be vulnerable. It’s not about crying on cue. It’s about learning to expose your heart enough to crack wide open again and again. You don’t perform scenes. You sit down and have a «shared visceral experience» with another human being while the world holds its breath. If that sounds like some hippie bullshit to you, you need this class. Steve helps us learn to ignore the twittering nitpicking pissy little voice of doubt that is our traitor left brain, and embrace that spontaneous self we all knew as children. Lose your actor habits here. Find stillness. Discover your «Aboriginal self» to the background of Steve reading Emerson and Thoreau and Indian guru Prem Rawat. Hear tales of old Hollywood. Work with abandon. Sound like a cult? It probably is. We come world-​weary each week to worship at the altar of Eastin, and we come away renewed.

A must for anyone who wants to learn how to really act. Steve is a well known working actor that puts his teachings to the test. He walks the talk and that’s very important in this town. He knows the art of acting and how to specifically get a top notch performance out of you. I feel confident and prepared when I walk in the audition room now. That makes a world of difference and my results are proof!

Honestly life-​changing. Acting classes in LA can really wear you out and this place is supportive and uplifting, with the added bonus of making you a better actor. I definitely approach auditions differently now. Steve’s resume speaks for itself, but he’s never haughty about it – he helpfully imparts his experience.
Probably the MOST affordable place in all of LA for classes as well. Everyone works every class (sometimes more than once) and you’ll be filmed in close up, every 4^th class.
I really can’t say enough good things about it – if you’re an actor that only thrives under humiliating tear-​down classes, this isn’t the place.

Steve Eastin is one of the best teachers in Los Angeles. There are plenty of schools that get more attention and didn’t do for me what Steve did. He is a very talented WORKING actor, (unlike most teachers) and uses his knowledge and experience to strip away all the bs people do to reveal truly exceptional performances.
He has brought out the «stillness» in my performance and emphasizes how important it is to just «be» in front of the camera.
He is a funny dude, super cool, and a real old school Hollywood guy. He shares amazing stories, insights, and terminology from a life in the industry. It was such an honor to work with him and feel everyone who doesn’t is at a huge loss.

I just started here a couple weeks ago and I’m in love. Finally a working actor teaching other actors. Audit for free and see if it’s a match. He’s down-​to-​earth, approachable and smart. I highly recommend this on-​camera class, especially as a supplement to other work and training.
