The meatballs were a little tough in texture, but that might be because I’m just used to Ikea’s — perhaps how Fourtyone serves them is the more traditional way? Anyways, the flavors were good. Wanted to try them again today but they were already closed when I arrived at 2:45. Wasn’t too happy about that…

I just discovered this place since our office moved nearby. I’ve only had two dishes — the Turkey & Swiss Sandwich and the Chopped Chicken Salad and both were incredible. Turkey & Swiss Sandwich — generously sized with thick slices of turkey and avocado. The best part is the pickled onions, which add a sweet/tart crunch to this nicely balanced sandwich. The kettle cooked potato chips are a perfect complement. Chopped Chicken Salad — Juicy, tender pieces of chicken with hard boiled eggs, bacon, and avocado tossed with greens and a light dressing. Delicious and satisfying. Service is always very nice and smiling. I can’t wait to try all the other goodies on the menu :)

Terrific neighborhood place to grab breakfast or lunch. The food is wonderful and the atmosphere is relaxed and easy. My favorites are the Chopped Chicken Salad, the burger, the meatballs and the daily soups are always delicious. But I’ve never had a bad meal. The breakfast is also superb… two wonderful breakfast burritos and and excellent breakfast sandwich. Usually easy parking on Lankershim or side-streets as well.

Just left this place a few minutes ago. The ambiance is really cool, and it really has the vibe of a cool little neighborhood place. I would definitely come back for coffee or a salad, but I just couldn’t justify coming back for an entrée. My Korean flank steak tasted great, but the jasmine rice was pan-fried after being steamed, which resulted in(essentially) overcooked rice. All in all, I plan to come back for coffee(because the ambience is really cool), but I wasn’t a huge fan of the dish I chose.

Admit it, when you go to Ikea, you stop by the kitchen to get some of those Swedish Meatballs. They’re better than average and its cheap. As you eat them, you think to yourself, I know these could taste better, but I don’t know where to find it. SEARCHNOMORE; HANDSDOWN, the BESTSWEDISHMEATBALLSEVAR. Stopped by here on a Tuesday afternoon w/my sis for lunch. There’s some metered spots up front, but you can park on the side residential street for free for 2 hours. Restaurant located on the corner(across from Dakota Pictures). Its small. Only about 8 tables. We were greeted quickly and seated. To drink we just had waters because we had on our serious faces for eating. Starter: POUTINE. YES! Crispy fries w/gravy & cheese curds. This was fantastic. I only had a few bites, because I was waiting on those meatballs. SWEDISHMEATBALLS. Served w/mashed potatoes & a little lingonberry. First, its a large portion. This is not lunch size. I thought to myself, I’ll just eat until I’m full. HAHAHAH! I bit into that meatball and it was buttery, tasty, just damn delicious. Scoop it into the mashed potatoes or w/lingonberry for variation. I didn’t eat any more of the Poutine because I was hyperfocused on the meatballs. Not ashamed that I practically cleaned the plate.(I think there was 1 meatball left). It was so worth it. What a great find!

What a lovely restaurant… feels as though you’re in someone’s home, particularly because of the delightful service. The food is fantastic! For me it’s the best Mac & Cheese I’ve ever had. I don’t care for brussel sprouts, but these are delish! Can’t wait to have the Filet Mignon. Did I mention we were given fresh chocolate chip cookies? Perfect for a big group!

Swedish meatballs! Serious ecstasy. Order this, but get the gravlax appetizer to start. No joke, this is some fantastic comfort food. So happy to have stumbled onto the cheerful and cozy neighborhood spot. From what I understand the Swedish chef owner started by using space for catering, but expanded into the little café. I believe the are still working on expanding hours. Bonus points for some of the friendliest service ever too. If you are looking for a casual and homey spot for a comforting lunch this is the spot.

The food is very delicious, especially at such affordable price. The 4141 House salad is amazing. And we also love the steak.

From the minute you walk in, you are warmly welcomed and Tara’s energy is infectious! The Swedish meatballs are so well done, total comfort food. I highly recommend coming just before the lunch rush, or you’ll have to take your order to go.

I am sad to say that this restaurant has been open for one year and today was our first time there!!! And, we live around the corner. The food was delicious. My husband had the filet mignon medium, it was cooked to perfection. It came with crispy fries, delicious Brussel sprouts, a roasted tomato and a creamy béarnaise sauce. There were 2 pieces of filet! All for $ 14!!! I had the roasted beet and avocado salad. Yummmmmmyyyy!!! I never knew I loved roasted beets! All that was in the salad went GREAT together! It had the perfect amount of delicious dressing! We are not big drinkers and out of the blue wanted a cold beer, they don’t have a liquor license yet but they said we could bring our own! This does not alter how much I love this place! One thing I’d like is for the restaurant to be open at least some evenings and weekends! Hoping this will be the neighborhood hang out! Oh, and for all you Canadians(like me) reading this… they serve Tim Hortons coffee!!! The chef is Swedish and loves Canada, thank you!!! She is friendly and came out to say hi! She also makes poutine, that’s next on my list to try! Tara, the hostess /server is really friendly, accommodating, conscientious, and generous :) I loved the place so much that I dropped cards in my neighbors mailboxes on the way home!

Backstory: my moms a vegan, vegan food disgust me. I ordered the vegan burger by accident, but it was actually pretty good. It came with store made chips that was also good. The store is pretty hard to find, because store number in the area are all pretty small. It is on the corner of a small street and lankershim. It has the perfect mom n pop and classy restaurant feel to the place. Very friendly service, would def come again.

4.5 stars :) Had lunch here with my boyfriend. We ordered the gravlax, Swedish meatballs, side of Brussels sprouts, and the pasta special(creamy penne with filet mignon, yum!) Everything was so, so, so good. Gravlax is made in house and is so fresh and delicious. The Swedish meatball plate was incredible! I loved the gravy and the lingonberry jam. The pasta special was so creamy and comforting, the perfect home meal. The Brussels sprouts were nothing special but still delicious. In addition to the food being delicious, the service was so great. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. This was a great experience and we will definitely come back.

EXCELLENTBRUNCH! I had the turkey, spinach, and onion omelette and it was fantastic! The potatoes were wonderful too. The quality of the ingredients was fantastic. And you get homemade chocolate chip cookies too! Also tried the pomegranate citrus juice and it completely hit the spot. It was a fantastic meal for a great price. The owner is a sweet woman from Sweden and an excellent chef who used to cater. You can taste the love and care in the food. I predict within a few months this place will be trendy as hell! Go try it now, support a wonderful business owner and have an excellent meal!

I was on my way to another restaurant next door for lunch when I noticed this new place. The sandwich board sign outside mentioned a salmon plate special so I decided to give it a try. WOW!!! I was blown away! Maybe the best salmon dish I’ve ever had. The décor is simple and tasteful and the staff is very warm and welcoming. I have already been recommending this place to my coworkers. The owner, Linda, is originally from Sweden and is a delight to talk to. Her menu is healthy and incredibly flavorful. I wish this place many years of continued success!

After scrolling through like 50 restaurants that I was either tired of eating at or not interested in trying, I stumbled upon the one and only review of this little gem. The diner’s exuberant praise left me with no choice but to make Fortyone Fortyone my Tuesday lunch, and I’m glad I did. We ordered to go… Enthralled by the first reviewer’s awe at the quality of the poutine, I decided to try it. Yum, yum, yum! The only thing that wasn’t delicious was the price($ 9), although it was a decently large portion. It was very upsetting when about $ 4 worth of that amazing dish was knocked over onto the carpet. Granted, I was already quite full from the first half of the poutine plus my House Salad(which was way too gourmet to be called a House Salad, with strawberries, apples, and candied walnuts), but my carpet is not worthy of being dirtied by this cheesy, gravy-licious delight. Speaking of delights, the«goat cheese croûton» that comes with the House Salad is actually a small slice of delicious crusty bread topped with a generous portion of goat cheese mixed with what appear to be fresh herbs. Awesome! Totally unexpected! The man of the house had the Chili Dusted Flank Steak Sandwich($ 9 includes a small side of fries). He said it was very good, and it must have been, because I looked at the tv as he was taking his first bite and when I turned back to him moments later, his plate was empty. I’m totally excited to go back!

Okay, so I usually don’t do the whole I’M GONNA UnilocalRIGHTAFTER I EATATTHERESTAURANTCOZ I’M INSANE thing, but I’m so excited about this place opening up as a new lunch option in the work-hood, that I want it to get business! It’s in a strange location, but I saw this place on the way to our beloved Hans BBQ Teriyaki(two doors down) and according to them, they only opened up a week ago so they’re still working on their menu, specials, environs, etc. But what they did already have on their menu seemed great! A good spread of meats, veggie, seafood, healthy, less healthy, they seem to cover all the bases. The place mainly gets five stars because they satisfy a lunch option niche that, as far as I know, has gone untouched in my area. One word, two syllables: POUUUTTTIIIIINNNNNNEEEEEEE! Poutine(pictured) is one of those foods that I will break any diet for and if it’s on a menu, I WILL order it. Like, I literally want to row a cheese curd boat using a french fry oar on a brown gravy river. And then eat my boat and oar and drown in the gravy river. It’s morbid, yes, but so is life. I don’t even know what that means. But seriously, If you could see me right now, I have Steve Buscemi eyes. Because I love poutine that much. The poutine here is technically one of the«Small Plates» to share, but I DIDN’T SHARE. I LETTHEMHAVEONEFRYEACH. It was so good! Other than the poutine, everything else tasted flavorful and fresh. My shrimp(open-face) sandwich(pictured) was nice, light, and tasted great. And my coworker’s HUGE«small plate» of calamari was FANTASTIC! It’s just calamari I know, been there done that, but that was some damn good, light batter calamari. And I’m not a lunch salad eater, but the Chopped Chicken Salad looked pretty epic. My coworker couldn’t finish it, but he said it was delicious. I guess as delicious as lettuce can be. Next time, if they’re still on the menu, I want to try the Quinoa Burger, the Chili Dusted Flank Steak sandwich, Cauliflower Pancetta Gratin, and some of the Scandinavian items, since the owner told us she was Swedish. Right now, their outdoor sign says they’re only open for lunch, but the environment is classy and fresh so I can see this place making a good dinner or brunch spot, despite it’s weird location on Lankershim. They have a couple of huge tables with couches that could fit some pretty big gatherings too. The prices seemed pretty reasonable and on par for Studio City/Toluca Lake. I spent about $ 20 for a nice filling sandwich and a BIG plate of poutine because I needed to stuff my pie-hole, but if I ate like a normal person, I probably would’ve cut the bill in half. A lot of items were under $ 10. And the staff was friendly too! On a side note, I think I just finished digesting my poutine. I NEEDMORE. STAT. Other than that useless piece of information, give this place a try for lunch! I think you’ll be happy with your choice.
