It’s a nice beach if… You enjoy listening to loud radios Not minding having to sit next to Tiverton’s main road Smelling and exposing yourself to a gas station Exposing yourself to dangerous cigarette smoke from every nearby beach goer. The bottom line is– Do not go here! Drive down the road a Little more a go to either fogland or south shore!

Rhode Island’s tourist web sites claim that this free and family-oriented beach offers saltwater swimming in the Sakonnet River. I’ve visited twice, and between the slabs of broken concrete near the water’s edge and the steady supply of fishermen casting their lines into the river, I can’t say that swimming here strikes me as the best idea. Not all is lost, however – this is a pleasant little spot where locals come in the evening to quietly watch the sunset, listen to the waves, fish, stargaze, and knock back a few.(Yes, as far as I can tell, this is one of the rare beaches in Rhode Island where alcohol is permitted.) Save the usual beach activities for another site, but stop by if you just need a moment of peace and quiet.
