Purr ‘n Pooch

It’s not easy to find a boarding facility that gives 24 hour care/​supervision. So Purr and Pouch is really the only game in town for me. However, that in and of itself doesn’t automatically make it a great place — the people do. It’s all about attitude and you can see immediately — the staff members love what they do. It’s obvious. I’m a little jealous when I see them. It’s like they have the best job in the world and they know it. My boys spent the day and stayed overnight because we had a funeral out of town. When you’re already stressed it nice to know certain things are taken care of. I received a text that afternoon with a picture of my boys hanging out in the outdoor play area with some new friends and then at pick up, I was handed a report card. (Wish my guys behaved like teacher’s pet at home too LOL). I would not hesitate to recommend this faculty. It’s great. Also, I understand the owners are very active in pet rescue. That’s admirable.

This is a wonderful place to bring to your pets… great for a finicky person like me. My little puppy was in love with the place and came home exhausted. Friendly staff and immaculate surroundings. This is the place!!!

I adore the staff at Purrn’ Pooch and so does my fur baby, Bear. If I ask him if he wants to go see his friends, he knows that’s where he is going and goes nuts! He gets super excited. About halfway there in the car, he starts to whine with anticipation.
There are closer doggie daycares for us but I would never switch. Check this place out if you need somewhere for your pup to play!

My dog Penny is always treated well when she stays at Purr & Pooch. She returns home happy and healthy and I have no problem leaving her in their care.

The owner is personally involved with training the dog we are fostering. We are grateful.

I have been using this establishment for almost 3 decades and have been overall extremely satisfied over the years with the care given to my kids.

Love this place… Or should I say my little Mandie does.
I am not «in need» of a doggie day care but because we don’t have a yard and Mandie REALLY enjoys playing with other dogs I bring her to Purr ‘n Pooch for exercise and socializing.
When I first brought Mandie to Purr ‘n Pooch it was free. They wanted to observe her temperament, which means they do the same with all their doggie clients which gives me peace of mind.
They also request confirmation of all shots and vaccinations. A pretty standard practice but they told me on the phone that if I didn’t have my paperwork at the ready they’d be happy to call my vet for confirmation. Wow.
Also, before arriving to our first visit I called to request a personal tour of the facility (I had previously had a bad experience with 2 filthy locations). Well, judging by the cleanliness, layout and overall professionalism of the front of the house I didn’t feel I even needed the tour anymore, but they remembered my request based on my dog’s name and invited me in. What an amazing place; clean and classy. Felt like a country club for adults! I mean, leather wingback chairs in their inside playroom and doggie oil paintings? C’mon! Keep in mind this is NOT viewable to the public. They even let me spy on Mandie through a peep hole upstairs since it was her first time there (I’m a nervous Mommy and I think they picked up on that).
Recently I opted for their grooming services — my former groomer had gone out of business. I left a current photo of Mandie of what she looks like after she is groomed. My former groomer did a superb job and *I* am admittedly bad at describing what I want particularly along her neckline which is important to me. Well, after I left I received a call from the groomer — she is not public facing — to thank me for the photo and ask some additional detailed questions. I was very impressed by her commitment to client satisfaction.
Note that they also have a few different play areas for dogs of different sizes and temperament. 11 lb Mandie fears nothing and loves any size dog so I request she is placed in whatever area has the highest population, that is usually the large dog area. They are happy to oblige.
When I pick Mandie up I am way more excited to see her than she is to see me. That’s not the case when I’m eating steak! She is passed out in my lap on before we get home. She has also now learned when I ask her «if she wants to go play with the puppies» exactly what that means and she spins with excitement, and smiles the entire 30 minute ride there.
Just a PS, I wish they had webcams but that is a people-​feature and it’s about the care of our pets. It’s just a really fun and nice feature and easy to implement through an open-​source security camera cloud system.

I have been bringing my dog here for grooming, daycare, and overnights for over 6 years. The staff is knowledgeable and excellent with the dogs. The grooming is superb. All vets should tell you what shots your dog needs for doggy daycare (or dog park). Purr won’t take your dog unless vaccines are up to date and ask for records initially and ask for updated records as well.

We have used Purr N Pooch many times for boarding our cat (in Tinton Falls) and dog (in both Wall and Tinton Falls) and fpr daycare for our dog. The staff there are fantastic, really friendly and professional with humans, and great with pets. Every time I have boarded the cat, he comes back looking relaxed and healthy. Our dog literally jumps up and down in the lobby while waiting to be brought in when we drop her off. She loves the place. When I pick them up, it always seems like several staff members know the pets by name, which gives me the impression they’ve been well cared for.
The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because it is expensive (though worth it), and the business kind of takes advantage by closing the front desk at 3 p.m. on Sundays so you have to wait to pick your pets up until Monday (and pay for another night) if you are on vacation and will return after 3. I don’t think it would take much for them to have a couple staff members up front until the early evening on Sunday like they do every other day, and so it always feels a little bit like they’re exploiting the situation when we have to deal with that issue since lots of people go on weekend trips and return on Sunday. One other thing, the cattery in Wall has been closed for renovations for a long time. This is good, because I think they’re getting it up to the quality level of Tinton Falls, but it’s taking forever, so we’ve had to board the pets up in Tinton Falls a bunch of times while we wait for them to finish. Bring on the cattery!
PS — Not sure why the vast majority of the positive reviews on Unilocal are hidden. Seems fishy.

I recently decided to try a new groomer by calling Purr ‘n Pooch for pricing. I was told my shih tzu would be between $ 45 — $ 50 and in fact my neighbor who has a Westie and larger than my dog was $ 45. I felt it was reasonable because that is the range I pay my other groomer. I took my dog there today and the groomer was friendly and willing to get to know my dog. I had a family member pick him up today and I just saw the bill and was charged $ 60! He’s a 13 lb. dog cut short! I called to inquire especially since I was quoted lower and was told there prices are not below $ 55 and they don’t know who would quote me that price and I was charged and extra $ 5 b/​c he was «snippy». My dog has no history of being snippy with groomers or anyone else for that matter! Needless to say but I’ll be going back to my other groomer who does just good of a job for less.

After moving to Monmouth County last year, I was apprehensive about boarding my dag at anyplace other than Best Friends in N. Plainfield, where I’d been going for 9 years. Luckily, I found Purr N Pooch. The staff was so friendly, polite and dog-​savvy, it put me at ease immediately. They explained that they would attempt to introduce Daisy to other dogs and find a group that she would like. I had never allowed her into groups because I was nervous about her interacting with others unless I could directly supervise. She is a pit mix who had been extremely nervous with other dogs, but has been improving following obedience training. I put my faith in this staff, and crossed my fingers. I called later in the day and was thrilled to hear that Daisy had made 5 friends, all smaller dogs, and was very happy. When I picked her up today, they told me that she had a «boyfriend», Dudley, a laid back pit bull. I cannot say enough about the great service we received and I have a wonderfully happy and exhausted little girl snoozing away next to me!

My dog and I always have a good experience at PNP.

I use their daycare and boarding services frequently. The cost for daycare is the same, 7-​days a week, however their hours are considerably shorter on the weekends (I find that M-​F is the best value). The employees are very friendly and my dog seems to love it — he’s quite a handful, but always comes home tired from a long day of playing around with other dogs. I’ve used the groomer once and they did a great job.

We boarded our German Shepherd puppy last year with Purr & Pooch. It was expensive but we had thought it was worth it. Several months later we began having issues with the dog and other dogs so we brought him back to be evaluated by a trainer. We were told (for the first time) that he had bitten another dog in doggie daycare when he was there months earlier. They wanted to train him — but not us. He was labeled a «project» dog. We have since found another trainer who not only is working with the dog but with us as well and he’s doing fabulously. I think for the money it costs, I wouldnt leave either of my dogs there again.

Take comfort in trusting that your pets will have an amazing experience here. This is a professional place, with extremely experienced staff. They do daycare, training, grooming and even their long term boarding is exceptional. You won’t be disappointed or worried while you’re away from your animals. It’s kinda like a mini high end hotel for cats and dogs. It’s so nice you’ll actually start to get jealous dropping your pets off. Seriously!
