Dr Derek Blackwelder, Born and raised in North Carolina, his path to New Hampshire was circuitous to say the least. After meeting his wife, Dr Kris, at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, the two went off to serve as dentists on the Navajo Indian Reservation in northwest New Mexico as Commissioned Officers in the Indian Health Service. Here, they not only developed an appreciation for public health, but also for the friendly green confines of the east that they left behind. When searching for a new home to raise a family, the Lakes Region of New Hampshire seemed a prime spot. In 2008, they purchased Winnisquam Dental, and have since expanded to better serve an ever-​increasing need in our area. Derek’s interests include family, outdoors, and bluegrass music! And he’s always up for discussing Tarheel basketball (his alma mater).
