The Ashley Inn of Tillamook

We had been driving all day and we’re pretty desperate for a place to stay and saw the Ashley Inn. I have to say we were both really pleasantly surprised. I am a nut when it comes to cleanliness and this place is definitely one of the cleanest rooms I’ve stayed in, it looks like they even take down the shower curtain and throw it in the wash between guests (ewww shower curtains). I don’t have one complaint about the place. The staff are super friendly and kind, the beds are soft and it’s just got a nice vibe. Breakfast is included and although it’s not gourmet, the pancakes were great. I’d stay here again for sure.

Older hotel, however: clean rooms, friendly staff, comfortable beds, good rates, free breakfast & wi-​fi. Win for me!

Don’t get me wrong, this is not a fancy hotel. However it is clean with exceptionally nice staff. I would be happy to stay here again. The refrigerator is in the room, a pool, and free breakfast to order.

The tiles in the pool room we’re so unkempt, that one of them got jabbed into the foot of a guest, who got blood in the pool, and had to go to the hospital. So the pool was closed. We were out on the town and came back just to go swimming. We felt that they could have compensated us because we couldn’t. Part of the reason why we went there was to check out the saltwater pool, that is one of their advertising features. Since we couldn’t enjoy the pool or the jacuzzi, we felt that they should have compensated us in some way. They gave us two free DVD movies. Wow! No other discount or compensation. The breakfast was just fine, the room was just fine other than that.

Stopped in here after a long drive and what caught my eye was the salt water pool and jacuzzi. Now the rooms are clean and it looks some what up to date, the elevator looked dirty and the pool area was just okay. The jacuzzi was really bad though. Cracked and splitting from the top concrete area. But they include breakfast, movie rentals and free parking. It’s okay but for $ 147 a night? I guess I was just super done with the drive when I said yes to that price. Oh well, live and learn.

The room quality did not match the price. The breakfast tasted good, but the wait was over a half hour for a breakfast sandwich and it was standing room only in the dinning area. Our server was very friendly and you could tell she was doing her best to keep up with the crowd. I left an article of clothing and the management staff was nice enough to locate it and return it to me through the mail.

Will be better once the pool is renovated. Rooms are clean and have been recently been refurbished. Check in is fast and friendly. They have DVDs players in room, pool is salt water as is the spa. Breakfast is limited menu, portions are average to small. Food is good. For this area it’s 4 stars. In another area, 3.5. Nice hotel. We will stay here again.

Staff are friendly. Breakfast here is hot and full and restaurant style no additional cost. Hot tub is working. I would stay here again. Make sure you visit the Tillamook Cheese Factory. Ice cream, cheese, restaurant and self guided tour all in one place.

The staff here are SO welcoming… very knowledgeable of the area and activities. However… there is a Goodwill right outside. No worries… we are only here for one night. The hot tub is working. We had fresh cookies upon arrival. Cheese factory is just up the street.

Nice employees, but not such a good hotel. Not particularly clean. Very slow elevator… and the stairs were not available to use because the carpets were being cleaned. The hot tub was not working… but the pool was nice. My first room… the refridgerator was not working… DOA. Found that out after I got unpacked… Had to change rooms… move all my stuff to another room… What a PITA! Not cool after a long day on the road. I was hot and tired. Didn’t need extra hassle. The WiFi was horribly weak. Couldn’t even Facetime with my wife. Would not go here again.

Staff was nice… room was nice… but not really very clean…:/ not sure if I would really wanna stay here again

How is anyone giving this place more than a ONE star?
The room was dirty, the carpet was so stained; the bed had hairs between the sheets, the bathrooms have no fan, so it is all hummed and moldy… etc, etc.
The WORST part though was the rancid breakfast!!!
Took a bite and almost puked!
The coffee tasted like dirty water and to top it all off, the comment card in my room was the one the prior guest had filled out, so that tells me they do not even care what anyone thinks.
The Shilo is 10 times better!

Ugh, it was awful. The lady at the desk was rude from the start. She told me the ONE crib they had was being used and that that the fact I didn’t bring one for my toddler wasn’t her problem. I had called in advance and was told they’d provide a crib. When we checked in, the walls were dirty, it smelled of mildew, there were tears in the drapes, there were no toiletries and there was a huge giant loud fan thing on the roof RIGHT outside out window. There was also a hair beret, ducky toy and dirty Kleenex from the previous people. It took until midnight to get my toddler to settle down enough to sleep in the bed with me.
It was also very very muggy and hot in the entire building. If you opened the window it reeked like cow manure. Ew ew ew!
The next morning we dragged ourselves down to the «restaurant style» breakfast. My husband ordered the pancakes and I ordered the bread and fruit. WHAT A JOKE! My meal was a cold English muffin not even sliced or buttered with a whole banana sliced in half. The pancakes were small, rubbery and cold. They were served on a paper plate.
This place is WAAAAY overpriced for what you get. Go somewhere else!!!

I am required to work in Tillamook occasionally and this is a hotel that has had rooms on a couple occasions when the Shilo was full and I suspect I know why it’s not everybody’s first choice. Checking in at 2 am when I was exhausted took much too long. For some reason their computer system had trouble reconciling the fact that I booked the reservation for that night, which was now the next morning. But no big deal. Long black hair left on the bathroom counter – also no big deal. The breakfast was horrendous. I avoided anything cooked this time because last time it seemed to be made with the cheapest ingredients available. Long story short, it took two staff members three visits to my table to not bring a cup of yogurt. Didn’t have time to stick around any longer and will try to avoid this place altogether in the future.
The only redeeming quality was the memory foam mattress topper. I’ll be picking one of those up as soon as possible.

Good place to stay for a night, clean rooms, decent staff. Just go elsewhere for breakfast. The restaurant style was very restaurant like. Food was dry, selection was limited and service was different (trying to be nice here). One lady cooking and serving. They need to rethink the breakfast part here.

Pros: nice comfortable bed, clean room, good internet, friendly staff and great breakfast burritos!
Cons: we had to fix the shower head (it was loose), the drain in the tub kept backing up and the price of the room was too expensive (judging on the quality of the room).
I received a special rate for the stay. If I was quoted the $ 145.00 price, I probably would have stayed elsewhere.

In Tillamook on business Part 2.
Check in was interesting. I originally had booked the room through Ashley’s website, but when I got to check-​in, I was informed that it had been run through Expedia and they couldn’t show me the price of the room. This slightly annoyed me, because I did not use Expedia and wanted to know what the charges would be. There was no arguing with the desk though, if I wanted to argue I’d have to wait for morning and speak with the manager.
The room itself was fine, if a bit old. You could see wear and tear on parts of the carpet and in the bathroom. As others have mentioned, the foam topper on the mattress did make a big difference.
My luck with shower heads continues to suck. Ashley’s shower head turned out to be disappointing as well. It was very tall, literally towering over me by a good 2 ½ feet. The spray was perma set on half massage half spray, which did not make for pleasant water flow. No matter how I twisted and turned the head, it wouldn’t budge off the setting it was stuck on.
At about $ 100 for the night, I’d say it was a little spendy for what you’re getting but aren’t many options in TIllamook.

Hotel is clean, the waiting area in the lobby has a computer and internet access, comfy chairs in which to relax or read, and a video gallery. It’s a bit crass to charge $ 2 a rental, but I suppose that way they get their videos back.
The room was nicely appointed and the beds are wonderful. Memory foam toppers on the mattresses helped my back immensely. There is coffee and though others said they got no real toiletries, our room had shampoo and conditioner as well as soap.
I found the linens to be comfy, though others have claimed that was not their experience. I also like the location, near most of the tourist areas.
There is coffee and tea located in the check in area, which is wonderful. I never got to try the cookies, which is explained below.
The only caveat I have for this hotel is the staff could use more training on professionalism. I realize Tillamook isn’t exactly New York City or Las Vegas, but when my daughter and I happened down to look for snacks (which are available for purchase at the front desk, instead of in a vending machine,) we fell into the middle of a conversation between three young male guests who were yelling down to the front desk from the second floor balcony. They were asking for the front desk person to make the promised and advertised cookies, and she informed them that they are not free, and that she was waiting on her nails to dry, but that she might make them later. I would have loved one… but none were forthcoming.
Then, I came down as I was unable to sleep, thinking I would read in a comfy chair instead of keeping my entire family awake. I got to be the unwilling hearer of two staff persons discussing why this person and that person were called off for the next shift, and how many check outs there were for the next day. The tone with which they discussed the check outs made me feel that I am a lot of work for them, and made me feel that I really wished I had chosen to stay somewhere that my choice would have been appreciated.
I also got to overhear the family plight of one of the employees, who stood at the front desk relating this information to the front desk person, in explicit detail. I learned how she had bailed her father out of jail, and how she couldn’t even borrow 20 dollars from a family member. Not a discussion that should be had at work, in the lobby, where customers can overhear.
Outside of that however, the actual accommodations are very nice. A bit pricey, but you don’t have a lot of hotels to choose from, and if you have seen the Red Apple reviews – well, I prefer my rooms clean.

I am torn between a two and three star review here. We had a groupon deal so thought we would try them out.
Check in took forever. There was a large group in front of us and the girl had her hands full. The confusing part was there was staff in the back office she kept asking questions to but no one ever came out to actually help.
The rooms are good sized. I like that there is a mini-​fridge. The beds are memory foam, which are very comfy BUT the sheets are cheap and scratchy. Why take a nice bed and put crap sheets on them?
We had a huge problem with the wifi and the front desk wasn’t much help with that.
They have DVD players in the room, which is a huge plus, and they rent DVD’s downstairs which are $ 2 and the selection is mostly older movies (5 – 10 years older) that we had already seen or never wanted to in the first place. Luckily, the Fred Meyer next door has a Redbox.
The pool is okay. I love that it is saltwater. They keep it comfortably warm and it is indoors. The hot tub could use a little upkeep. The inside has chips and snags that do not feel good on your skin when you walk or sit on them.
I did not partake in the breakfast. My husband wasn’t thrilled with it but my 6 year old was happy with cereal.
Would I stay here again? Probably not. Maybe for a really great deal.

Two nights here, thanks to a Groupon. And I would do it again.
This is a classy hotel, maybe not a Hilton, but very nice accommodations. Located very close to the Tillamook cheese factory, it is visible from the highway, but set back so no road noise.
Our room had two really comfortable queen beds with memory foam, a spacious (and I mean huge) room that was tastefully decorated, comfortable to move about, and a nice bathroom set up too.
And how many hotel bathrooms do you know that have the phone in the bathroom next to the toilet? Makes sense to me. You can sit there, shut the door, have a private conversation with the desk clerk. Kinky.
They also feature a complimentary hot breakfast. We did not indulge, we had places to see. It looked pretty much like the traditional hot breakfasts of most good hotels. You know, scrambled eggs, potatoes, waffles, cereal, biscuits and gravy. Coffee and juice.
Free wi fi. Not the most wonderful reception, a bit slow, but I am used to high speed. Spoiled, me.
The lobby is welcoming with a large fireplace and comfy places to sit. There is a video library. Not exactly new releases, but fun for the family. They serve fresh baked cookies and coffee in the afternoon.
There is also a nice indoor pool too.
Our stay was wonderful. The groupon deal we bought included a basket of goodies, like local cheese, yogurt, jerky, and free ice cream at the cheese factory. Yum. Nice introduction to the area’s bounty, and great to have for a midnight snack.
Ah, and this is a dog friendly hotel. You must let them know ahead of time because the only rooms available for your adorable little Snoopy are on the first floor.
