I never had a problem with acne until last summer. I did everything natural to combat it but that wasn’t helping. After months of research, I came in knowing what I needed for my acne but was suggested a topical ointment just to take care of the scars and nothing for acne, which is why I came in.
A few problems I have is getting my prescription to the pharmacy. I called multiple times and the prescription was never sent it. So I just didn’t take it. Dr. Suggested the pharmacy call instead of me.
My main problem with them is the front desk staff. Every time I come in, they give me smug looks and are very rude. ESPECIALLY when I call in! I’m given SO MUCH attitude. Having worked for a large medical center, I know what information is needed for the front desk staff to get my message over to the medical assistants and nurses. I swear they don’t even pay attention to what I’m saying. In the middle of my message to the MA/​nurse (which is never long) I get cut off and an told they’d give me a call and ask for my number again.
I love Dr. V, but I honestly don’t want to go back here.

Our Hair Dresser noticed a strange growth on hubby’s face, so I made a appointment for him on a Friday at 2:30, we saw Dr. Vanderbeek. As the Assistant took the information I mentioned I had a strange growth on my leg could Dr. take a quick peek while I was there and that I would be happy to pay any additional fees. She checked and said no time the Dr. has two patients waiting. We were on time to our appointment and still waited, so how could there be 2 more stacked up in the lobby. It sounds like they have an overbooking problem. I made an appointment for the following Monday and Hubby got a biopsy.
Tried to pick up prescription over the weekend and it was never called in, OK. I called Monday morning and left a voice mail letting them know I had a conflict and could I re-​schedule and also where is hubby’s Prescription?. I got a call later and was able to re-​schedule, also they needed the Pharmacy name to call it in (I gave it during the appointment as well). Two minutes later my phone rings again and it is the assistant again calling to tell me hubby has a basal cell carcinoma and set up a biopsy appointment.
A little later Dr. Vanderbeek’s Assistant called to get the name of the Pharmacy (again, 3^rd time). I told him I already gave it to someone, so I gave it again. He assured he would call them and make sure it was called in.
At the biopsy appointment my husband was not given an aftercare sheet, which I found out later from a friend he should have gotten. Thankfully my SIL is a nurse at a Dermatologist office and she told us what to do.
A week later I was called to let me know that the biopsy came back clear? I was confused I said then why did you cut a huge piece off my husbands face if it was clear, he said that the part that was cut out was sent in and the margins were clear. Fairly confusing.
Finally at the follow up visit, my poor husband was surprised as hell that they had to remove stitches, he thought they were the dis-​solvable kind, again maybe if he had gotten an aftercare sheet maybe he might have had some idea of what to expect.
Essentially the right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing, I have never seen such confusion. At my appointment my doctor told me to come back in 2 weeks, I actually got an aftercare sheet and the assistant kept telling me to come back in 2 months, I finally had to have him look at the sheet and it read 2 weeks.
I will say we both really like Dr. Vanderbeek and none of this is her fault.
(One more reason they deserve 2 stars, my husbands YSA emailed me that since I put the payment on the YSA card they needed documentation, I called these folks and instead of sending it directly by fax as my Dentist, Doctor and Eye Doctor did, they have to make it more complicated and mail it to me so I can fax it to them).

I went to this clinic with a very severe rash and not only the doctor and her assistant made me feel welcome but after applying the medication for less than two weeks, I was rash free and I have to say that this was one of my best experiences with a doctor, s office.

This was the worst experience I’ve had in any medical office.
The reception staff was pleasant and tried to accommodate me, however that’s where the good experience ended.
My first appointment with Dr. Vanderbeek was on a Friday at 3:45. I called the office at 2:30 saying i received the reminder and would be on my way. They advised what to bring, etc. So far, great. Get to appointment.
The doctor is running 45 – 60 minutes behind. Do I want to wait or reschedule.
I reschedule for the following Friday at the same time with the same doctor. I arrived early to fill out the required paper work, and waited. I expected some wait as i was early, and filled out the paper work quickly. 3:45 came and went. At 4:05, I asked why so late again. The receptionist apologized profusely and said it would be another 15 – 20 minutes. She asked if I wanted to wait. I asked for my money back and left.
So again, the doctor is 40+ minutes behind. Why wasn’t I informed earlier? Prior to me, the patients were flying in and and out. At least 8 people came and went from 3:30 to 4:00.
I understand when people are at the doctor they want the full attention of the doctor, but if this facility is unable to keep up with demand, either book less appointments or bring on more staff.
Maybe the issue is Dr. Vanderbeek herself. Perhaps the other doctors posses basic time management or communication skills. Regardless, I’ve called my doctor and asked for a referral elsewhere. I’m sure another doctor would like to bill my insurance company for a simple visit.
The 1 star is for the pleasant reception staff.

Everyone at this office is absolutely wonderful! Unlike a lot of other doctors I have been to where I am rushed through and I feel as though I am not taken seriously as a patient, Dr Hester and his team are very thorough and took their time to make sure all of my questions and concerns were addressed.

This facility came highly recommended by a friend who has been a patient here for many years.
The reception staff was friendly and professional. I was able to fill out my paperwork and due to a cancellation I was able to get in to be seen before my appointment time.
I am very fair skinned and skin cancer runs in my family so I was a little anxious about my appointment. The assistant picked up on my nervousness and helped put me at ease. I saw Holly Rasmussen and she gave me a thorough exam, calmed my nerves and ultimately removed 2 moles (both were benign.) Initially one of the results came back inconclusive and required additional study/​testing. I was glad that they went to such lengths to ensure my health and calm my fears.

They were nice and appointments were easy to make, but i just wish they knew more about how nutrition affects cystic acne. Cortisone shots, and drug after drug with no success. Now, for the past 8 years since going there, i have been acne free from a vegan, wheat free diet.

Reception staff is unpleasant and appointment are usually very late and hard to come by. I also had trouble with the prescription because they did not given the pharmacy the correct information.

I have been a patient of Dermatology Associates for the past 6 years. Thanks to Dr. Ross’ careful screening she caught a life threatening melanoma on my arm. Her gentle and thorough approach put me at ease. After the biopsy confirmed the melanoma, I was scheduled for surgery soon thereafter. It was quick and painless. The staff at Dermatology Associates has been consistently friendly and professional. 5 stars!

Would not recommend! The office staff is not pleasant. It feels like you are interrupting their life when you show up. Their appointments are hard to come by and when you show up, be prepared to wait. My first couple visits didn’t have out of ordinary wait times, but this last time, I waited in a tiny room for over 45 minutes. I had to take off work in order to make the appointment — they need to be more respectful of their patient’s time. This place isn’t cheap either! Basically, I felt like I paid to wait. Appointments last 15 minutes or so. And I do not like how they require me to come back into the office in order to get a refill approved. I could barely afford the first visit. If THEY have concerns, they should just talk to me on the phone. I shouldn’t have to take off work, pay for another visit, just to get their signature on a refill. Ridiculous. The doctor was nice enough, but didn’t remember me even on my 5^th visit and I guess they don’t make good notes because I was asked all the same questions. And she even asked what medications I’ve tried. Uhmm, I have no idea — you prescribed them! Get a good recommendation for elsewhere. You’ll be better off.

I saw Holly Rasmussen for acne and was horribly disappointed. After looking at my skin for about 15 seconds she started telling me she wants to put me on antibiotics without explaining anything to me. I strongly dislike it when doctors rush through an appointment, immediately start writing a prescription and don’t explain anything to you, which is exactly what she did. I brought in a bag of the skin care products that I was currently using and she didn’t even take the time to look at them. The staff at the front desk are not rude, but I wouldn’t call them friendly either. This office is also not accommodating at all when it comes to scheduling.

I’ve been seeing Dr Ross at Dermatology Associates for around 4 years for skin checks, lasering tiny veins on my face and botox. I don’t have to wait forever for an appointment, I’m not left sitting in the waiting room forever and everyone at the office is friendly & welcoming. Great office that I always recommend to friends!

I brought my 14 month old daughter in for a skin condition I noticed. We met with Jill Gifford. She was very friendly and professional and went the extra mile but taking cultures of my daughters skin problem in addition to giving us the ointment we needed. She followed up by calling me today which she said that she would which I really appreciate. I usually have to call doctors offices to find out the results and was impressed that she called me when she said she would. Parking is easy and everyone in the office was friendly.

I recently had the fortunate experience of having Dr. Ross as my attending. What a great and wonderful experience I had with the overall level of service and care I was provided with. Not to mention the skill of Dr. Ross. I had no scarring and a relatively painless heal. Highly recommended!
