Best Western Plus Northwind Inn & Suites

The front desk staff is okay. Rooms are what you’ll expect from a Best Western. Updating the rooms can definitely contribute to a better stay for their clients. The rooms have a tendency to smell and feel stuffy and musty. Their toiletries are all placed on a dispenser mounted on the walls instead of your usual complimentary toiletries. Housekeeping if you request for your room to be cleaned is literally just fixing your bed and probably replacing your towels and refilling your toilet paper. They don’t vacuum or forget to throw your trash. They need to have a better system with cleaning the rooms. The walls are pretty thin so you can hear your neighbor. Complimentary wifi available to their guests. There’s more guest parking behind the building that is convenient as it also has a hotel entrance that would just require a key card to gain access. There’s a complimentary coffee/​tea table at the lobby in case you wanted something warm before you sleep. There’s only one slow and old elevator for the entire building. Breakfast is served 6−9am on weekdays and 7−10am on weekends. It can get really crowded as it is a very limited space for their numerous guests. There’s just 6 tables in the dining area. Free breakfast isn’t that great if you’re looking for a place to stay with inclusive breakfast. There’s other places you can have a better or more comfortable stay that includes breakfast. Beware of one of the ladies running the breakfast area (tall, hispanic, on the heavy set, grumpy looking). She gets grumpy when you ask for something that needs to be replenished even if it’s still early (7:45am a client from another group asked for water and coffee to be replenished and she started banging things around to show frustration). She throws a fit when the dining area is not empty by 9am/​10am SHARP. She is only very friendly and accommodating if you directly hand her a tip and not on their tipping jar or if her hotel manager is around. Otherwise, you’ll get the head-​to-​toe look and side eye. It’s pretty hilarious to look at how she reacts to different guests. Her older colleague who has blonde hair is very sweet. You’re better off checking in on other places during your stay.
There’s a commercial plaza across with a pharmacy in case you forgot to bring something from home.

We subscribe to 3 hotel rewards programs; Marriott, Hilton and Best Western. So when we visit our son in Oregon we normally find our best deal at the Best Western. Since this property ranks as a plus it comes with higher end furnishings and the property seems newer than most. We have stayed at this location numerous times over the past few years and we are always satisfied with service and the room we get and at a price better than Marriott or Hilton. Breakfast is complimentary and each room comes with a fridge and coffee maker.

Wow… First time in a plus! What a pleasant surprise! Clean and modern! Service great! Just one disappointment is the breakfast was poor.

The staff here is very helpful and professional. I have stayed on two separate occasions– one for a three day stint and the other for an entire week. My first stay was in a king suite that for whatever reason while pet free and non smoking smelled like both. I didn’t contact anyone about it as I figured I was staying again the following week and would give a second try.
Time two was a success– the room both times was clean but the second time there was no weird smell! Yay! I felt safe here and noticed lots of families and people passing through for work staying here. I would stay again. I did not eat breakfast at all but did appreciate the flavored creamer for coffee and juice!

By situation we were forced to stay at this location. We had to stay for 2 separate stays. The first stay our room seemed nice when you entered, mints on the table and soft music playing, until you discovered the ants in the heater and have difficulties with the door lock key cards and obtaining keycards for the 2 adults and I 17 year old.
The second stay, no mints, no music, no ants but the room was darker due to a light bulb being out. The room also seemed dirtier, there was sticky stuff on the thermostat and the glassware was on funky/​reused (?) paper cup holders. Also, again difficulty with obtaining more than 1 keycard at check in.
The ladies running the breakfast were wonderful. Patient, polite, and friendly. Despite some ill mannered guests.
All of this could be overlooked and whatever, until Best Western miss handled the billing and billed our credit card for the stays instead of the company’s account that put us in that hotel. Now we are waiting for resolution for the credit card error and according to the company that put us in Best Western, this is Best Western ’ s fault. This could negatively effect our credit etc.
So, thanks so much for the mediocre rooms. One with ants. And the potential credit damage. This place was supposed to be a refuge for us like hotels can be and instead made our situation worse.

great hotel. friendly trusting staff, decent breakfast included with stay with a selection of eggs, sausage links, bacon, breakfast hashbrowns, toaster, cereal, and the breakfast staff Aymee is amazing and so kind. There is an indoor spa and fitness center with water and towels available, free wifi, the lobby has fresh coffee and sometimes even cookies. Doing laundry at the hotel is convenient and easy to use accepts quarters. I love that the hotel is so close to the Bridgeport mall, and there’s even nice jog areas nearby.

Stayed here for our 3^rd time. We’re happy they added instant oatmeal with some topping options to the breakfast. This is great for cyclists. Beds were comfortable, as always. Friendly staff. Love their coffee mugs. We’ll be back.

Check in was a breeze and front desk staff was nice. Rooms are a bit outdated, remote control has no guide button so you won’t be flipping through channels, you’ll be scrolling one channel at a time. Don’t expect any perks such as down comforters or complimentary water. Room came with a microwave and a hair dryer.

For a Best Western, I have to definitely give them five stars! I know, you think Best Western, yuck. Let me tell you, I am a Ritz Carlton/​Four Seasons/​Mandarin Oriental kind of gal. This little place is quite the gem. It is super quiet so when I need to get away from the noise of home construction, or any other reason I don’t want to be in my house during the morning hours because of noise, my husband brings me here because it’s just down the road our home in Sherwood. The staff is very friendly and knows us by name. I have had to stay in this hotel for probably a total of 2 to 3 weeks this year. They have a laundry room, workout room, indoor swimming pool with Jacuzzi and honestly the best continental breakfast served in the front of the hotel each morning. The breakfast usually consists of some type of egg and breakfast meat but what my son loves about staying here is that they have a waffle iron that makes for small waffles at a time where you can to dispense two different types of batter to pour into the iron to cook. You can pick either regular flavor waffle or blueberry flavor waffle. They also have a variety of pastries, breads, bagels, etc. as well as a variety of cold cereals. They also provide coffee and two different types of juice. Breakfast is served from 6 to 9 AM. This hotel is incredibly clean and very well-​maintained. They have free Wi-​Fi and because I have stay here during business and need to use the Internet connection, any time I have had an issue they have gone more than out of their way to accommodate my needs. They connected me directly to the tech-​support department so that the tech-​support department could add all of my digital devices by their MAC address so I didn’t have to log into the Wi-​Fi every day, making it possible for the network to just detect my devices and automatically authorize me to the network. I have to give a special shout out to Andrew and to Ben, two of the guys that run the front desk and keep this place humming like a machine! On this stay, I had one of the rooms that has a whirlpool tub in it, which is perfect to relax the muscles at the beginning or the end of the day. They also have a lovely two bedroom suite upstairs. Two rooms with a connecting door. One room has a king size bed the other has two queens. For the price, you cannot beat it!

I feel a bit like I’ve been punked by Unilocal here… I don’t understand how this place is so highly rated. The rooms are typical shoebox size, the beds are very firm, the pillows are lumpy… I could go on. Breakfast was highly disappointing – one cramped counter laden with highly processed convenience foods and only a few tables to sit at.
What really bothered me was the smell in the hallways. It was obvious that this hotel still allows smoking – I didn’t even realize this was an option in 2014. The halls reeked of cigarette smoke concealed by heavy perfume/​incense. Awful. It was enough to give someone with allergies to scent – like me – a migraine pretty quickly.
Oh, and our room faced the busy road outside, so we listened to cars and trucks drive by all day and night.
The only thing that saves this place from a 1 star review is the staff – who were very courteous and friendly the entirety of our stay.

We were driving to Seattle and got caught in a storm so bad I couldn’t tell what lane I was in on the freeway. We pulled off and looked up «Best Western» on the GPS. It took us to this hotel which was AMAZING. Large clean room, comfy beds. A microwave and refrigerator in the room. Quiet. The continental breakfast included omelets. Wow, could not believe our luck finding this place.

I highly recommend this Best Western hotel. The beds were the most comfortable beds of any hotel l have stayed at. The breakfast was outstanding compared to any other hotels. I also wanted to mention the desk help was very nice and polite. On check out the staff was very interesting to chat with

Enjoyed my stay here recently. Our room is spacious and clean and the queen beds are comfy. The free breakfast is pretty decent. Free Wi-​Fi and free parking. Close to Bridgeport Village and I-​5, check-​in and check-​out was completely hassle free.
This is actually the only Best Western I have ever stayed, but I really liked it!

Very friendly staff, immaculate rooms and comfy beds!!! Plus, you are minutes from Washington square mall, the largest mall in Oregon. Bridgeport Village is minutes away with the container store, Mac Pro store (cosmetics) and new balance store. REI is also in the immediate area. It’s the perfect place to go shopping, skip on sales tax and get a WAY nicer room than staying downtown!!! Love it:)

A nice location, very quiet and comfy, we had a view of the trees that I loved. Staff was cool and I slept like a babe :)

This was the best Best Western I have ever stayed in. Indoor pool, spacious rooms (the king bedroom has a couch and a desk for work), free WiFi, and an accommodating staff (I checked in about 2 hours early on a Wednesday afternoon).
Nice bonus: the free continental breakfast is a lot more: hard-​boiled eggs, waffles, cold cereal, bagels, fruit, juice, and yogurt. Unlike most continentals you go in hungry and leave full. Great value.
The only reason why I only gave it 4 stars is because of its location. The hotel is about a 20 – 30 minute cab ride from the airport. It is, however, very easy to find if you have your own vehicle (this is my first time in Portland outside of the airport and I didn’t get lost, thanks to Google Maps).
