The study of the Martial Arts is one of the few activities that bring together the energies of the mind, body, and spirit. The mission of the Sanuces Ryu is to preserve the purity and legacy of Dr. Moses Powell and his teachings as well as to cultivate that energy so that it may be applied to daily life.
Our curriculum offers a balanced approach to self defense. The curriculum features a blending of boxing movement, traditional striking and kicking skills, an understanding of how to land when thrown, as well as standing joint locks (Kansetsu Waza), controlling techniques (Kyu Waza), throws (Nage), weapon defense, and healing (Seifukujutsu). We incorporate the traditional precepts of Bushido: Honor, Loyalty, Courage, Justice, Benevolence, Honesty, and Respect in the Dojo (training hall). It is the blending of the traditional art and modern adaptations that provides our students an effective system that will serve them well in any environment from the board room to a back alley.

What The Mind Can Envision, The Body Can Achieve!
Welcome to the Tetsu Yama (Iron Mountain) Dojo. Below, we have provided some basic information about our dojo, and how to contact us. The Tetsu Yama Dojo was formed in 2007. With the inception of Kiyoi No Shinsei Schools of Sanuces Ryu JiuJitsu Ryuha, the dojo has become one of many branch dojos under the direction of Hanshi Darryl King.
The Branch Chief of the Tetsu Yama Dojo is Sensei Shawn Ritchie, 4th Dan. He is the senior student of Kyoshi Brown. The Tetsu Yama Dojo is currently accepting new students, therefore anyone interested in Sanuces Ryu JiuJitsu is invited to observe a class via appointment. This will give you the opportunity to see what we do and ask any questions.
