We bridge the gap between design firm and furniture store. Like a Design Firm, we value the creative process; we make House Calls, collaborate and coordinate all those little details you never thought existed.
Like a furniture store… you can come in and pick anything off our floor, or modify it the way that fits your needs, and call it a day.
Our clients range from the «Millennia» generation trading up from their dorm sofa, to the well-established baby boomers redecorating their Mini Mansions.
We have one location, run by Paul and two lovely associates; Carrie our outrageously talented designer, & Debbie our creative, cleaver and eager ‘designer in training.’ We try our best to be personable and helpful, but sometimes ‘texting’ just gets in the way. Sorry in advance for that. But we do have a cool coffee maker and candy we like to share.
History
Established in 1996.
I opened my first furniture design store in Venice Beach called Philip Paul Designs. I didn’t know a thing about design or furniture. I was a, quote, «Actor». Translation, I waited tables at the Cheesecake Factory. But with a second child on the way, I had to come up with a great money making scheme. I was, afterall, a graduate from the W.A.C. department at UCLA. I could figure something out. So I opened up a small store where I made even less money than waiting tables… hmmm.
To make a long story longer… Our store grew, learned a thing or two about sofas, furniture, and design… and found that I loved making «House Calls»… getting out of the store and helping clients in their home.
In October of 2006, The Sofa Guy at Welcome Home Interiors moved into the Westlake Design Center. A cool little industrial area off Lindero Canyon on Via Colinas is a wonderful mix of Interior Design showrooms, dog groomers, flower shops, a little food place. Come by and check us out!

How I Became The Sofa Guy
One day, I knocked on a client’s door and heard; «Hey Honey, The sofa guy is here» I thought, «Wow, I like that. It’s simple, memorable, a little goofy, but then again so am I.»
But, can it be classy too? Will it convey a sense of quality? of value and design? or will it sound like a sleazy Salesman on cable? You can see my predicament. These things keep me up at night.
For years I shunned, «The Sofa Guy» moniker in favor of a new, more refined and dignified name, «Welcome Home Interiors.
Finally enough already, be The Sofa Guy. I decided to keep it simple. I really like focusing on upholstery, sofas, sectionals, dining chairs, overstuffed chairs etc… I want to be, «The Sofa Guy».
Here it is world Im coming out —
«Hi…my name is Paul… and…I AM The Sofa Guy» Whew, that felt good. I am proud of my name. I have embraced the sofa guy within and I hope you, if you have actually read this far, have enjoyed the journey.
