St Patrick’s Episcopal Church

St. Patrick’s is the best church. It really is a utopia in a mad, mad world. My spouse and I haven’t been particularly religious, not much into dogma, etc. But St. Pat’s is filled with a very open-​minded, non-​pushy, generous and welcoming group of people. You can put as much or as little as you want into the experience. They are not judgmental, but joyous and accepting. You can be from a different faith and fully participate in all parts of the ceremony. Kids are pulled out at the beginning of the ceremony so parents can pray and in the classes they do arts and crafts and get a basic religious education.
The musical director is a real genius and Fr. David’s sermons balance old world teachings in relation to anecdotes from today’s world. He doesn’t ever have an agenda and it seems to be his vocation to spread warmth, balance, and a good energy to those listening.
Services are at 10:15 which is a very convenient time. Coffee and donuts are served afterward for free so people can mix if they want.
I’ve never felt a sense of community from a church in the way that I do at St. Pat’s. The sun always seems to be shining on the Church at the top of the hill.
They do fundraisers for their teen group, have book clubs and potluck dinners. And unlike other churches, they give back to the community in ways that aren’t directly related to the Church.
There’s never any negativity. The best thing is that no one ever pressures you, and if you are looking for a peaceful, communal positive experience or are going through a tough time in life, St. Pat’s is the place for you. Even if you aren’t into scripture, sometimes it feels good to say positive things out loud with positive people.
