Specialties

The mission of Pinecrest Schools is to elevate our students’ cognitive, academic, social and emotional well-being. We strive to not only facilitate academically adept students, but also strive to engage commendable citizens. We believe that students are best prepared for the rigors of the world when they are active participants in an environment that encourages commendable academic allegiance, sports and physical activity and exposure to the arts and sciences. For over 60 years, Pinecrest has been family owned and operated. We have been a catalyst for hard working students from all backgrounds, to realize their goals and achieve a high level of overall preparedness and aptitude.

History

Established in 1951.

In 1951, Mrs. Dye, our founder, opened the first Pinecrest campus in Van Nuys. The San Fernando Valley was beginning to develop, and Pinecrest was the first private school in the area.

In 1977, the Thousand Oaks campus was built. Mrs. Dye had a vision for private schools in new and growing communities. In 2003 Pinecrest Thousand Oaks was awarded the Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award. Pinecrest Schools are six campuses strong and proudly remain family owned and operated.

For over 60 years Pinecrest Schools has provided a quality education to the children of Southern California. Our school environment is designed above all to provide the highest quality academic education. We take great pride in our students’ accomplishments as they go on from Pinecrest to excel at the high school, college, and graduate school levels.

Meet the Manager

Kimberly M.

Manager

I have been with Pinecrest Schools for over a decade. I began my Pinecrest journey at our Van Nuys campus in 2004 where I taught middle school literature, language arts, world and U.S. history. In 2009, I became the K-8 Principal and served in that position for three years before I was asked to take over the Campus Director position at our Thousand Oaks campus in January, 2012.

I hold a Master of Education in Cross-Cultural Teaching, as well as a Professional Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and in the immediate future, a Professional Clear Single Subject English Credential.

As an educator and administrator, I promote proactive and responsive teaching. I want to inspire educators to always modify their mindset, to identify where their students are at that moment, and teach upward from there. I take seriously the immense influence we have as educators, we are the decisive element in the classroom, we create the climate and help manifest the love of learning.
