Dr Kim was extremely helpful in getting me fitted with both glasses and soft contacts (which I was new at and now LOVE). Very friendly service AND they had my contacts in stock… so I was able to wear them the same day. I’m thrilled I went there.

Terrible experience!!! I can’t imagine how this office keeps it’s doors open. The first time we went there was for a first time pair of glasses for a 13 year old boy. The appointment was late afternoon. I had made the appointment for an eye exam for glasses and to find out if he was a candidate for contacts. We were kept waiting a while and the office seemed very unorganized. I thought perhaps we caught them on a bad day. Dr. Kim did the eye exam, we ordered the glasses and inquired about contacts. Immediately Dr. Kim said she could measure him for contacts that day but there would be an extra fee. I expected there would be a separate fee so I readily agreed to the fees but it was obvious to me that if we did it that day it would keep other people waiting longer then we had waited. At that time we let the doctor know that we knew absolutely nothing about contacts. No one in our family had ever worn contacts so we would need her direction in understanding the commitment and what options or choices we would have. She said she would do the necessary measurements, explain everything to us, fit him for contacts and teach him how to use them on the day of the appointment. That was why there was an extra fee. Sounded good. We made the appointment for a couple weeks away (for the middle of the afternoon trying to avoid a repeat of the delay and confusion). We got to the appointment a few minutes early. Only the doctor and the desk receptionist (Leslie) were there. We were still kept waiting almost 30 minutes. A number of times i heard the receptionist answer the phone and tell the caller that she would put them through to Dr. Kim. One caller was even told they would have to come back in and pick out a new set of frames because the glasses they ordered were lost and the factory also lost a second set of sample frames the Doctor’s office had sent to replace what was lost. Now the frames are no longer available. I have to admit I was starting to get an uncomfortable feeling about their organizational skills and I wasn’t thrilled to be kept waiting while the doctor chatted on the phone. When we finally went in the exam room Dr. Kim was abrasive, curt and even argumentative. When she said she would not be doing the training because «in her office the receptionist does the training» I realized I had made a poor choice for Optometrist’s office. As the appointment progressed I attempted to ask questions about contacts, Dr. Kim seemed to get increasingly agitated. I was feeling more and more uncomfortable and I guess it showed because she got downright disputatious. She hadn’t started the actual exam or measurements when she invited us to leave and suggested we should probably go to a different office. I couldn’t have agreed more. Well over an hour after our original appointment time we left having accomplished nothing except to see an optometrist at her worst and most unprofessional. I’ve lived in Thousand Oaks over 45 years and I’ve never had an experience like that at any business!

Dr. Kim is very friendly and welcoming. She made me feel very comfortable and it’s obvious she cares about her patients. The selection of frames is great and so is the attention paid to clients. Scheduling is made easy and they have convenient hours.

The 1^st impression on this place was 5 stars: clean, aesthetically pleasing, the receptionist was nice and appeared well informed, the Dr. amazing credentials (UC Berkeley go CAL!) There is a lot of check marks here folks! This place has the potential of being that 5 star optometrist joint.
Now for the bad: the Dr needs to work on her customer service she was cold and not not friendly (doc 1 star). I also could not believe that she actually grabbed my eye lids and flipped them to check for allergies without wearing gloves! Eeeeeewwww (doc 1 more star).

Phoned in @ told them I was running late. I walked in 9min after close & it was not a problem (plus one star)
This adds up to 4 stars. Yay!

i schedule my appointments during my lunch hour, and I am never late to work. They diagnosed an annoying dry eye that no one else could.

I am a new patient of Dr Kims, and she did a wonderful job of fitting me with contacts as well as glasses. I have a high weird prescription and after several tries, found bi monthly ones for me. Glasses are a nice frame and fit too. :) She and office manager Leslie are fantastic!

I have been here a couple times and I will continue to go back. I found her because She is close to my house. I had a great first experience, so I went back when my daughter broke my frames. They were very accommodating. I love the late hours, allows me to have my appointments after work. I have made my annual appointment for next week.

Dr. Kim is very thorough & capable. She very much cares about doing a good job. We have had her as our family eye doctor for over five years.

I love Dr. Kim! No, REALLY!!! Not only is she a phenomenal optometrist, she is also very caring and detailed. I go here every year for my annual eye exam, and sometimes to simply look at the merchandise or drop in and say hello. I always receive courteous and professional care and the best treatment for my eyes. Thank you Dr. Kim!

Dr. Miran Julie Kim filled a new script for me based on her own examination of my eyes. When I went to pick-​up my new glasses and could not see out of them properly, she refused to correct the problem. Whether it was her error in her diagnosis or a lab mistake in filling the script, the glasses were useless to me. I was out over $ 450.00 and had used up my only eyeglasses’ insurance benefit for the year. She agreed only to reimburse me for the frames so long as I left them with her, but not the lenses or the examination. I indicated to her that I would certainly pay for her time in correcting her error for a proper set of glasses, but I was not keen to pay another $ 450.00 for NEW lenses. What is the point of seeing an eye-​doctor and getting a pair of glasses that don’t work? A red flag should have been raised when during my initial appointment with her, I’d asked her 3 different times why she was NOT testing my vision for computer work or reading. She indicated that since my long distance vision was being corrected, my mid-​range and far-​sightedness need not be checked and would adjust automatically. Huh? I’ve been wearing glasses since 4^th grade and should have trusted my own instincts in realizing this was idiotic logic. Even Lens Crafters guarantees their work. Caveat Emptor! (By the way, formal complaints have been filled against this optometrist with the California State Board of Optometry, Consumer Affairs and credit card fraud reporting agencies.)
