Today the food was bland. I salted my rice and beans! I love this place mostly because we’ve been customers for 30 years. The severs are friendly and usually food is delivered promptly. But since their remodel, it’s hit and miss. We don’t go very often anymore.

We usually pick a different spot for dinner each Saturday. This was the first time at Lupe’s and we won’t get back. The service was slow and they had only one dining room open so it was crowded. We had to sit at the counter, which was ok. We order our dinner I got a number six and a burrito of each kind Colorado and Verdi… Boy they were so bland. The meat in each was not even seasoned. They were both so tasteless they could have been the same thing. I love Chili Verdi so was very disappointed. and our other order was a dish that was supposed to be machaca con huevo. He got a colorado burrito, not at all what he ordered. We couldn’t get the waitress to stop and talk to us so we could ask what it was, till it had been half consumed. When she finally did she said it was what he had ordered… NOT. So tasteless food and bad service. two strikes. We won’t go back.

Lupe’s is a go-to whenever we crave comfort food. It is cheesy and saucy and refreshingly unsophisticated. It’s an old brick and mortar business that is popular. Monday’s $ 1 taco nights, Thursday $ 1 enchilada nights.

My favorite Mexican restaurant in Ventura/LA county. Always good service and always great food. I have been coming here for close to 20 years and would recommend Lupes to anyone!

Just O.K. Food nothing special, I’ve had much better. Service Friendly, prices a little high for what you get. Would probably not go back.

i haven’t been here for awhile, food wasn’t all that good until recently. I have now gone a couple of time the last couple of months. I think they have a new cook because its now very tasty and the price is just right. I eat out alot and I highly recommend this place.

The food was awful! The server was friendly and apologized. The chips were super greasy and the flavor tasted of rancid oil. My wife ordered the steak. The server apologized because they were out of salad. The server explained that we got the last order of steak and they had to use pieces to prepare because that was all they had. The steak was not edible. They should have said they were out of it just like the salad rather than serve that. The albondiga soup was so salty it too was barely edible. Finally they are really expensive. $ 8.00 for a glass of wine. Well… another one of our list!

The BIG flour ground beef taco $ 6.95 — a meal all by itself!!! Great salsa(as usual) and a nice, ice cold Modelo Negra $ 3.(HH price) absolutely perfect mid day meal!

Been going to Lupe’s for years, but the old girl needs a deep cleaning. The tables are always sticky and filmy. The upholstery on the booths and chairs are absolutely black with filth. It’s a wonder they haven’t been shutdown by the health department. Please clean the place we love so much.

Although service was quick ground beef tacos were boring, margaritas were too small, not somewhere I want to take company. Chips and salsa were good.

You would think that all Mexican restaurants in Southern California would have flavor… but no. Lupe’s is another restaurant to add to the list if you enjoy extremely bland food. I kind of had the idea of what the food would be like, based off of their salsa a.k.a. tomato paste watered down. However, my friend and I were in Thousand Oaks for a musical and we had not eaten all day and we were extremely hungry. So, we ventured to Lupe’s because it was near the theatre. My friend and I asked if the beef in their burritos was seasoned and our very kind(truly) server said that it was. Nope. It was literally cooked ground beef that was then rolled into a burrito. Boo. The service was very good. We had a kind host and a lovely server. Too bad the food was not as great as them.

A favorite gem in the community! Lupe’s has been here forever, before Thousands Oaks was so big. They are great at customizing orders. I have allergies and they are great at accommodating me. Amazing food, full of flavor, friendly staff and a great community place. Looking for authentic Mexican? This is the spot! Great lunch specials and a special taco/enchilada deal day!!! Totally satisfied!

Went in here a few nights ago and can’t think of a worse experience. Menu is limited for a place that size and the food is bland. Even the chips taste like something out of a bag from the grocery store. Customer service is lacking at best. No hellos or how are you today, just what can I get you. No smile no pleasant attitude. I even saw a customer c go behind the counter to get her own refill due to the employees disappearing. Beware if visiting this place.

I’m not to happy with the food or service. Last time I was there I ordered burito of beans rice. It was just ok. The chips are sometimes not cooked all the way. Salsa was good.

The food here was good but we were expecting more from this spot that’s been in the neighborhood forever. I know that rent on T.O. Bolavard is high but we thought many of the prices on the menu were high for the serving sizes. We most likely will not be back.

Adequate. Excellent nachos. I had delicious beans and rice to go with my adequate tamale and boring chili releno. The indifferent waitress matched the food. It’s a nice clean place which will serve you just about any Mexican dish, but often right out of the freezer. When in California I look forward to great traditional Mexican dishes. For this I could have been in Iowa.

BESTCHIPSANDSALSAEVER. I’ve been going here for at least 30 years. It has consistently been one of my very favorite spots. Kind of surprising that they only have 3 stars! The place has changed a bit over the years, and it’s gotten a little more expensive now as well. But they’re always great! I always order the cheese enchiladas with rice. The rice is delicious and the enchiladas never disappoint! My kids all love going here now too. Fun little hole in the wall place that is a staple of Thousand Oaks! Also– glad they coke product on the fountain now :) Used to be out of cans! I will keep coming here as long as I’m in the area. Service ranges from okay to great — I have had a few unpleasant waitresses but it’s all evened out over the years. They still deserve 5 stars!

What a delight! Having grown up in Thousand Oaks I have known about Lupe’s but somehow never went until last night. Having a hankering for Mexican we went we ordered and enjoyed. My wife and I each had one of their 9.99 specials. She the tacos and rice me the taco enchilada and beans. It was delicious! Now they only had two choices of wine. I thought that was interesting yet sometimes I think we have too many choices. The wine was good too. They recently remodeled very clean warm atmosphere. There is outside dining. They quickly brought out chips and salsa and when we devoured them(as we were both looking forward to them) they were promptly refilled. Our dinner soon arrived after that hot and tasty. I highly recommend Lupe’s it is now on our A list

We just love the history of this TO original restaurant. They have been around as long as this city has. The photos they have displayed everywhere of their old place … Now a small outhouse are just amazing. We love hearing about and watching this local history. The food is ok although the vegetarian options never fail to make the waitstaff stumble and fumble. The kids prefer a more classic meal which never fail to please them. For more developed pallets, the options are a bit limited. Overall quality is great. The food is fresh and hot and served with a smile. We really enjoy our sporadic family dinner here.

I like Lupe’s a lot. I love endless table chips and theirs are quite good. I am also a big fan of their chicken tacos. They fry their taco shells in-house and the flavor is great. I do admit that the prices are not on the cheap side, and when I brought a Mexican friend here a month or two ago I was embarassed to realize it seemed really un-authentic. I’d highly recommend it for people who are not Mexican and/or are not looking for extremely authentic Mexican food. My friends and I most enjoy their tacos and their Huevos Rancheros.
