Gallardo’s Automotive Service

This is my first experience with this mechanic and so far so good. They seem very honest, thorough and quick. I feel like they genuinely want my truck to run at its best.

The best customer service out of anywhere I’ve ever been to. They worked with me and made the effort to get my car out in a quick amount of time. I go here from everything from a basic oil change to major fixes. Gallardos will always have my business as long as I’m in the area.

It’s always clear that they want to help me and I don’t have to worry about the work quality. I trust Gallardo’s.

I’m very reluctant to give a business a bad review. I really don’t want to accuse them of being either incompetent or dishonorable but I don’t know how else to evaluate what happened. I’m just going to explain what happened and let everyone decide for them selves.
I have a GM SUV that is older but low miles. We bought it new but that was 11 years ago. It hasn’t needed much over the years except regular servicing. Some months ago it was not charging the battery so I took it to Gallardo’s. They replaced the alternator. I brought it home and immediately noticed it leaked something on my cement driveway. It has never leaked a drop of anything (except condensation from the air conditioning). It came from the front driver’s side of the vehicle so I thought it was from the radiator. I took the car right back to Gallardo’s and told them it was leaking something from the radiator or that area. John, the owner, said he would check it out. When I picked the car up he told me that my radiator had some small leaks and probably needed to be replaced. I said I’d have to wait. It continued to leak small amounts. I usually park in the same spot on my driveway but one day I parked over a few feet. That allowed my son to get a good look at the stuff my car had been leaking. He said that it wasn’t radiator fluid because it was the wrong color. Turns out it was transmission fluid from the coolant line that goes into the radiator from the transmission. Gallardo’s had unhooked it to get the alternator out and when they put it back in they either didn’t get it tight or didn’t clean the threads good and use teflon tape before they reinstalled it. Once that was done it quit leaking. My radiator has no «small leaks» and does NOT need to be replaced. So they caused a small issue by not reinstalling the line correctly, then didn’t diagnose the problem they caused and then told me they pressure tested my radiator and found leaks that it didn’t have. So I don’t know if that was incompetence or less then honorable service.

Rip off… While having service done to my car I asked them to change the front turn signal lamp which had burnt out. They gave me a quote of $ 170.00 to replace one light bulb!!! After picking myself up off of the floor, they explained that the high cost was due to labor, stating it would take 1 ½ hours to change the bulb. Needless to say, I declined. I went home and checked on YouTube which shows the bulb being replaced in about 10 minutes. I bought the bulb for $ 3.00 and completed the task myself in 15 minutes. I expect a business to make a profit but billing for 90 minutes of labor for a 15 minute job is robbery. I will not be returning to Gallado’s.

Needed to get my truck serviced. I mean I guess if I go 4000 miles over the recommended it might be a little much. Being a small business owner myself I always stay away from the corp places. Found Gallardo’s on Unilocal.Totally great!!! I didn’t have an appt but they could tell I wasn’t on my day off. So they squeeze me in. Made me oil synthetic. And recommended I change my air filter. Which I knew it needed as I had meant to buy one myself. I never felt ignored at the counter. I could tell this shop was totally on top of their game as well a honest in their work. They kept chatting about tee customers most which seemed like regulars just the while I was there. Their prices are completely reasonable. Maybe about 5 – 20 more than a big corp shop. Not much regarding the service delivered. Will be back without a doubt.

The service I got was excellent I was also very impressed by how courteous they were in taking the time to explain the problems my car was having in way that even I can understand the complicated issues my car was having other than that I would encourage you to go to Gallardos for your car problems

Great mechanic I’ve known him for years and John the owner is very helpful with any questions that I have regarding vehicle repairs all of his techs are very knowledgeable and are professionals at what they do… So if you are looking for great work done by people that know what they’re doing I highly recommend going to John!!!

Short version: Had some complications, but they came through in the end.
Long version: My check engine light was on, computer says it’s the catalytic converter. Ok. So They need a few days to order the part. Ok. I arrange at work to come in a little late, but they ordered the wrong part. Oops. So I come back a few days later, end up waiting longer than expected, but in the end, they shaved off some of the price, which makes me much happier.

This place is great!!! I own American Luxury Limousine and they have worked on several of my vehicles. They are always honest, quick, reliable, and super friendly! They are my «go-​to» guys and will continue to be for years to come! I have 100% trust in there work!

John has worked on my cars and trucks for over 20 years and I absolutely have the most confidence In the shop.

Fast, friendly and affordable service I can trust. Quality work and great customer service. Thank you Gallardo’s! Everything you want in auto maintenance & repair service. Been using them for years. I dread using anyone else, and only do when I have to, when out of state. John and Cindy have been great dealing with horrible service warranty companies, having all the records, info and advice that has always proved spot on. I know my cars are in good hands with Gallardo’s.

I am new to Thousand Oaks, so when my power steering fluid was leaking I got on Unilocal and researched shops, I found Gallardos & Cindy was very helpful, she explained my issue so that I understood completely. My repair was quite costly so I called around to other shops in other cities just for peace of mind, and Gallardos was the best price, was able to get my car in right away, didn’t try to sell me other services like other shops did. She quoted me 1 ½ hours to fix & that’s what it took! They have a nice waiting area with TV & clean bathroom. I now have my one stop shop for everything now!

The best most HONEST auto shop anywhere. They are really talented and friendly. The service is honorable, which is HUGE for me. I am a single working Mom and know nothing about cars, so I am very grateful for their services. I have nothing but good things to say about this place, definitely feel good about going here!

They seemed very knowledgeable and trustworthy. He couldn’t fix my car, but next time I know to call the dealer first. Either way, he charged a fair price for his time to look at it and got me a contact for a good deal on a tow to the dealer. I could have saved some cash if I went straight to the dealer first, but that’s not his fault. Great experience and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that lives in the area.

My wife and I have been coming here for years… and they still continue to do great work. Granted, the new car dealers don’t like these folks… but that is because they know how to keep things running, and do it reasonably. John is the only reason I still have my Suburban with 200k miles as frankly I am sure he is the only one still willing to put up with the beast! Every time I tell him to take it out back and shoot it, he fixes it and off we go again.

Excellent service! The owner is very friendly and welcoming. My wife and I needed an oil change during our roadtrip and fortunately stumbled upon this place. I asked for 5w20 oil and he had it — a lot of places don’t. The only reason why it’s four stars is the price. Oil changes are slightly above what I pay on average at $ 40.

A pleasure doing business with Gallardo’s!!! Courteous, honest and great communication… I felt a sense of sincerity from the time I called them to make an appointment to the time I drove my car after the repair. High recommended!!!
