Do not go to this DMV, go to Simi valleys. Before went there, my friends told me so. I didn’t believe them. I went there for transfer, all employee there are old people. they are so slow. For 2 hours, only 13 numbers. The old lay who works in Window 5, she looks like Asian. With her cold face, talking gossip with her friend when she served me. She hold the paper talking gossips. So rude. Then she told me the Odmeter on my paper was wrong. She told me to fill another paper and come back another day. I was pissed, so I went to DMV in Simi Valley, guess what, they told me nothing wrong with it. They don’t understand why that old lady in Thousand Oaks DMV use it as excuse instead of doing her work.

Well I have had the 1 star experience with the Dmv but this was a bit better. The wait is far to long for what they had to do for me. Just a change of address. I realize there is a process but it is clear to me that things need to be updated in this day and age of electronics.

One of the slowest DMVs I have been to but they are high volume so it’s not really their fault. BIG problem is that you can not register to vote there. I stood in line for half an hour to find that out. They sent me to the post office for that.

Had to get a new driver’s license since I am a newlywed. Had to go without an appointment since the next available one was in early December and I couldn’t wait that long since I want to change my name under my bank. Waited maybe 10 minutes in line, received my ticket, and sat down to wait. This place is super clean and a lot smaller than the one on Winnetka. My number was called in about 30 minutes, maybe a bit longer. But my whole experience was made by Ronald at Window #8. He was courteous, friendly, and mentioned how he loved to help brides change their names. Not only that, he bumped my height up to 5’3 since I am 5’2.5′, and all short people know any quarter inch we can get we will take! Once the paper work was filled out and everything was signed he asked me to drum roll (which I obliged) and handed me my new interim license with my new name. I have never left the DMV with a smile before but Ronald did just that!

It’s hard to stay positive when baby’s are crying there eyes out and 5 different languages are being spoke around you. But it’s clean here and these workers do there best to please pissed off people.
It’s hard to stay positive but you have to every day to serve the public.

Beatrice– a smile goes a long way~.
The only complaint was Beatrice at the «Written Test» window. She was chalk full-​O’ rude glances when we had questions and slow to engage, over-​all she was no help at all. She did not seem happy to be there did not smile like her photo ID shows and we all know… when you have a people job — a smile goes a long way.
We will go back and I will give her another chance. If she’s still rude I will take it to management.

The good: I was out in 30 minutes. The bad: the women who work there are total bitches. How unnecessary! I made sure to compliment them on how fast to service was in the hopes that they would be nicer to the next person in line. Hope it worked!

Going to the DMV is not one of life’s highlights, but this office is clean, moves along smoothly. Make an appt, bring proper documents & a debit card (or cash or check). They don’t take credit cards.

Oh my goodness!!! Who would have EVER thought that the DMV could be a pleasant experience?! Nicest staff, clean and plenty of chairs to sit down and study for the written test. Everyone was so helpful including Valery who processed everything for me. Thank you!

I needed to get a new license and tried to book at the DMV closest to me or anywhere close and all the appointments were weeks out. I am heading on a trip and need a license to rent a car, so yesterday when I looked at DMVs a bit farther away, an appointment in Thousand Oaks was available this morning (jackpot!).
I came in, grabbed the form, filled it out and checked in for my appointment. Within 2 minutes, my number was called and I was on my way to getting the new copy of my license. Ronald assisted me and was efficient and very pleasant! 5 stars for his service alone!
I was in and out in 10 minutes (including filling out the form). Make an appointment and you will be happy with the process!

I had a great experience at the Thousand Oaks DMV. I arrived an hour before they opened, was the first in line, and got a lot of work done while I waited. The line definitely built up as the 8am opening time approached, so I was more than happy that I got there so early and didn’t mind waiting. One of the lovely women who worked there came out at around 7:30am and asked why we were there and handed out forms and clipboards to those who had to fill out additional paperwork. They opened right at 8am and I was helped by yet another friendly woman who was sweet and fast. Got my temporary license and my picture taken for a new one. I was out of there at 8:09am.
Overall, I had a great experience here and was met with kindness and efficiency. I was in and out very quickly without an appointment. The DMV website says less busy times are the middle of the week and the middle of the month, which could explain my experience somewhat. I would definitely recommend getting here early if you don’t have an appointment — you won’t regret it if you do.

Clean. Other than that, it’s your regular dreadful DMV experience. I had an appointment for a M1 license. Went to the main corner, the woman in charge there was first king of agressive but as she saw I had everything ready («The readier I am, the sooner I can go from the DMV.» A wise man once said), she relaxed a bit. She gave my waiting number and I sat for about 15 minutes before I was called.
And then… BOOM the world collapses. Just like you, I once read the reviews of this place before going into it. Just like you, I saw several people complaining about an «annoying Asian lady». Just like I though «Meeeh, couldn’t be that bad». OH BOY I WAS WRONG! When I saw her, I first prayed, hoping it wasn’t her.
I walked to the counter and with my most gentle and beautiful smile I approached the counter and say «Hello, how are you doing?». «PAPER.» is the only answer I got. And during the next 20 minutes I had to refrain from laughing, everything was so unreal. She was so rude. She was also mumbling very fast more than speaking, and since I’m a foreigner I begged her to repeat several times, but she was not familiar the mere following concept «If someone ask you to repeat, don’t slur up all the works the way you just did before, actually try to be understandable this time». She almost lost my passport (yes it’s possible) but the registration was fast (I had a motorcycle to register too).
And at the very end, when everything was done and I was almost out of trouble she asked me: «AGE.». I said 20. «YOU CANNOT, YOU NEED THE FORM». I actually tried to explain her that it’s stated on the
site that the written test can be taken prior to taking the MSF safety course and that I could come back with the DL389 form later to get my licence but I could have made her robot OS crash down. So I smiled (I managed to do that), asked «Will my file still be there next time, when I come back? I don’t need another appointment since the application is already done, right?». The answer was: «NO, YOU HAVE NO FORM. YOU HAVE TO START AGAIN.» I sighed and left, it was a funny moment actually.
When you go to the dmv, just relax and take it easy.
After getting the DL389 form, I went to the Simi Valley office, explained my situation, and got my license very quickly, without an appointment.

Very friendly people. Easy to use. I made an appointment, true, which might explain my happiness but few sane people look forward to going to the dmv. I was pleasantly surprised and though I live downtown I will come back for sure.

Like it is pretty cool in there but the schedule of operations I don’t know if they did not noticed it’s wrong it says 8 to 5
Someone needs to change that sign it’s unfair there’s a lot of people every day 10 or 20. people sending there for more than an hour

Hard to say good things about a DMV, but this one is probably one the most efficient and friendly ones I’ve ever been to. They were on top of their customer service and accommodating the different forms we needed filled out. They helped us navigate the intricate maze of government forms with high kiting pertinent questions and always did it with a smile. Our wait was minimal and we were always met with a cheerful disposition. Our wait time was minimal and since we came prepared (with all the forms with thought we would need) we changed two licenses, and moved a vehicle registration to a new state within 45 minutes. It was all in all, the best dmv experience I could have (even though, there are numerous other things I could think of to do with my time than this)

By far the best DMV in the southland! I have been to many DMV’s attempting to find a half way decent DMV. This DMV is amazing compared to the others!

Few people, if any actually enjoy transacting business at the DMV. ESPECIALLY without an appointment! However, since the next available appointment for ORIGINAL first time applicants wasn’t until April 2015, we decided to apply as «walk in» applicants.
Sure, we knew the wait would be 90– 180 minutes BUT …
The staff at both the Oxnard and Santa Paula field offices adamantly INSISTED it was impossible for a legal alien resident to apply for an Original permit without an appointment. (However since my wife did that a fortnight before, I knew it was possible)

The here are professional, we felt valued ang we accomplished our business efficiently. BTW, our actual waiting time from getting queue number to being called was two hours on that particular day.

Make an appointment… but even if you don’t, if you get there early, especially early in the week, you will get through pretty quick.
…and if you make an appt. early in the am and you get their early, they will take you early.
Parking is easy… and it’s a nice neighborhood.
