Curtis R Couch, DDS

I’ve been going to Dr. Couch for years! I don’t trust anyone else with my teeth. I travel all the way from SF to see him and know of several others who also travel from all around the country to see him. The best thing about him is that he won’t do any unnecessary work like most other dentists try to! Honest guy and also impeccable with his work (he has done cosmetic work on me). I highly recommend him. The only downside is that it can be difficult at times to get an appointment with him. He’s that good!

I had an accident that left my tooth out of place. A friend of mine recommended I go see Dr. Couch. His staff were very nice and so sweet about getting me in ASAP. He is very knowledgeable yet super laid back. I have my whole family excited to come here. I highly recommend them!

I’ve been going to this office for many years and the staff has always been extremely professional, friendly, and efficient. Since Dr. Couch arrived a few years ago, the office itself has transformed into a new, fresh and updated space. Very clean, good equipment, etc. Thanks for all you guys do… it’s nice to be able to go to the dentist and get a nap in every 6 months! :)

Definitely the best. Dr. Couch desires the best and is at a level where he wants to be known as the best. I still drive 60 minutes to get my dental appointments here and don’t feel safe anywhere else. I have been going here for years and won’t stop going. He’s a pretty charming fellow to I might add… okay, good bedside manner might be the more appropriate thing to add. I don’t want to say who does my cleaning because she’s always booked and I don’t want it to be harder for me to get an appointment with her… but S (her first initial) is the best and I will never go to any other dentist as long as I live. I couldn’t make this rating and recommendation without the experience I have had over the years with S, she’s simply the best!!!

I have known curt for many years, he’s one of the nicest people you will ever meet and meticulous to a fault.
You’d be foolish to go anywhere else.

I was thrilled that Dr. Couch was just as professional, skilled, and honest as my previous dentist. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr. Couch to anyone, especially those that tend to be a little dentist-​phobic. He has a very nice chair side manner and helps his patients feel relaxed and comfortable. His staff is just as professional and caring as he. Kudos to all!

Dr. Curt is a very professional and skilled dentist. I was pleasantly surprised upon my first visit. A friend recommended me to his office and i was very satisfied. The whole staff is awesome. I would recommend this dental service to my friends in the future.

Can’t say enough good things about Dr. Couch, Dr. Yancey, and Mike Frisbee. Due to a childhood accident and several dental procedures I was never happy with my smile. I am only 20 years old, and I am finally proud of my smile and can’t stop taking pictures !!! All thanks to them and the front office staff for working around my tight college schedule and internship out of state. I would highly recommend this office for any dental cosmetic procedures!

Dear reader, I am THE voice of experience when it comes to having spent time and money in dental offices during the past 25+ years. Having compromised the health and appearance of my teeth (due to a LONG passage of suffering from eating disorders), after college I sought cosmetic solutions. So began a history of veneers which were always stained and dingy-​looking with time, new veneers, different dentists, crowns and, ultimately, a mouthful of, perhaps, not-​so-​attractive teeth of varying shades. As «they» say, «Life goes on,» and insurance only covers so much, so I tried the best I could not to obsess about the disappointing appearance of my smile.
My husband and I came to the Thousand Oaks area nearly 5 years ago, and it was a fortuitous encounter with one of Dr. Couch’s patients which led to the dental transformation which I enjoy today. This lovely woman had BEAUTIFUL teeth, and when I told her so, she told me candidly that they were all crowns and that her dentist was FANTASTIC and a «great guy» — the only glitch was that his office was in Van Nuys. I was not to be dissuaded by the drive (although, new to so. Ca. I had no idea where I was going), and took an appointment to be seen the next week.
My first impression was of his warm and friendly staff. When I met Dr. Couch (he introduced himself as «Curt,» and we’ve gone by first names ever since), it was clear that he’s not like the majority of dentists I’ve encountered. What I know now that I’ve been in his care during these past 4+ years with a full-​mouth reconstruction behind me is that Curt is a truly remarkable human being. He is genuine… sincere…compassionate and caring.
Although he may not remember, I’ve never forgotten the encounter I saw and overheard just before leaving an appointment. Curt was meeting a mom with her young son for the first time. The boy was squirming a bit it in dental chair, appearing apprehensive. Curt introduced himself to the mom in his very friendly manner and then put his hand on the kid’s shoulder, smiled and said,” Hey, Buddy, don’t worry about a thing, I’m really good at what I do.” I smiled to myself, knowing there wasn’t anything like arrogance in what Curt had told the boy – it was just the truth –and I left feeling certain that that boy and his mom would have a comfortable, positive experience.
To demonstrate the type of practice Curt chooses to run and how he cares about his patients, I’d like to share my experience of this past weekend. Friday night while flossing my teeth I managed to loosen a veneer — these things happen, especially given the extent of my dental work. Saturday a.m. I reluctantly phoned the practice to find out whether or not they were open… oh yes, in addition I was forgetting completely the Easter holiday. Whereas other medical practices leave patients with emergencies/​urgencies in the lurches to wait for «regular office hours,» the fellow who answered my call told me «Dr. Couch handles his own patients,» and asked whether I’d like him to connect me with Dr. Couch. I was surprised a little and didn’t know exactly what he meant and 30 seconds later, Curt was on the phone line… from his car… where I had found him half way to Mammouth with the family! When I explained the situation he was very apologetic (and it certainly was NOT his fault) and told me not to worry, that he’d take care of me. Very, VERY good care indeed: shortly after, he called to say he’d left messages with 2 dentist friends and was waiting for return calls and NOT TO WORRY, he’d call me back as soon as he’d arranged things. Within an hour Curt phoned to tell me his very trusted assistant (the über-​talented and experienced Debbie) was waiting at the office to take care of me. Ahhhhhhhhhh… a quick visit to meet with Debbie and my problem was handled.
I am delighted for Curt that he’s enjoying his new practice in Thousand Oaks. He is extremely fortunate to be assisted by – yet again — a superb staff of competent and FRIENDLY people. I’ll also add that Curt is honored (and so is his practice benefitted) by the continued collaboration of Dr. Eva Yancey (she did some skillful periodontal work for me in Van Nuys).
Apart from having graduated at the top of his class in dental school (USC, if I’m not mistaken), he not only demonstrates skill but also the artistry required to create a truly beautiful and natural looking smile. I am so grateful to have Curt for my dentist. To my delight I now have strangers tell me how nice my teeth are, or how pretty my smile is… and this is GREAT!!! My life is blessed and it’s a joyful thing to feel good about smiling. My Heartfelt THANKS to Dr. Couch.

I’ve been going to this practice for over 25 years, I think. Dr. Hemm was great and very competent. However, he retired several years ago, and I was apprehensive about what would happen. Apprehension resolved: Dr Couch.
First of all, this is a very friendly practice. The office staff is always very friendly, personable, and competent. Appointments are always scheduled with care, with the requisite reminder call.
Second, all appointments are nearly always kept ON TIME.
Third, the hygienists are very good and friendly.
Finally, Dr Couch is very friendly and communicative. At every step along the way, either with a future procedure recommendation or in the middle of a current procedure, he always explains everything, and makes sure you understand what’s up.

I love Dr Couch and all the staff in this office! The 1 star reviewer should be slapped for their comment. The staff here is great, I can count on them to give me timely reminders and to take care of all insurance stuff BEFORE they do any procedure. During one of my visits they made a mistake told me my x-​rays would be covered under insurance but they weren’t and the office covered the cost 100%. Some of you may say, «so what, they SHOULD» but if you know anything about doctor/​dentist offices they’re mostly crooks and will NEVER admit wrongdoing let alone eat 100% of the cost.
On to Dr Couch– he’s a great dentist who has slowly been replacing the inlays/​crowns my last failure of a dentist put in. All the work he’s done for my has been great so far. He’s kind and caring but also a master of his craft. He’s also the first dentist who’s novacaine shot I don’t feel AT ALL and I’ve been to a lot of dentists. Although I swore I’d never go back to the valley, I still make the trek for Dr Couch. It’s worth it :)

Dr couch and the staff are awesome, i have been coming here for about 5 years after, like most people, bouncing from dentist to dentist.
Dr Couch has done maybe 2 root canals and a filling or 2 on me over the years. But i go every 6 months or so for routine deep cleanings. Everyone is cool there and the prices are reasonable. Ill definately be coming here for a long time. One of the reviewers said he saw Steve Vai there, Dr. Couch told me he is his patient, but unfortunately i havent seen him but hope too.

I love Dr. Couch and his staff. He was recommended to me by a friend after another dentist (who I really should give a negative review to on here) tried to take me for a ride, saying I needed 5K of dental work «at least,» and needed to see a specialist of her recommendation. Dr. Couch put my fears to rest (and all totaled was only $ 1900!) and spent a lot of time explaining just WHAT was going on with my teeth and what needed to be done. I cannot recommend him and his staff enough.

Finally I found my Dentist. Curt, as we call him is a very cool person and his entire staff is fabulous. After years of skipping for one dentist to another, I was referred to him and quickly trusted him enough to install porcelain veneers on me. I have to tell you that my life has changed since he worked on my teeth. I have more self-​confidence and I smile a lot more. He did a great job and no one can tell that they are veneers… so natural looking.
Dr Couch is about 45, so he is up on the latest methods of Dentistry and he NEVER hurt me, not even with the needle. I highly recommend Dr Curt.
NOTE: If you call, make sure to specify that you want to see Dr Curt or they will give you someone else, but really everyone there is great. They all ride the wave of his vibe. I even saw guitar great Steve Vai there once. How cool is that?
