Good luck getting your $s back if you try to leave! Contract states that you can «cancel at any time». When you sign up they say the same (made sure to confirm that a few times).
In January, I requested a refund for my remaining lessons. After 2 months of back and forth, I got SOME of my money back. They said I didn’t cancel several lessons within 12 hours of the start of the lesson (per the contract) and was responsible for those charges. In response, I pulled cell phone records showing that they were wrong and that I had in fact given enough notice. I sent them copies.
At that point they pretty much broke off all meaningful contact. They do not return emails, nor calls. If I reach Nicki, she defers to Lacy — who isn’t available. If I reach Lacy, she defers to Robert — who isn’t available. I hoped to part on good terms, but their action — or lack of action really — over the last few months has tainted any good experience I had at the studio.
Next step, pay for an arbiter/​judge to resolve this. At least the studio has to pick up half the cost.

Very nice people, great atmosphere! I have been dancing there for about a year and I love it! Very professional invironmrnt and every body is so friendly and polite. Give them a chance I promise you won’t be sorry! The best place to get your dance on for sure!

Took my SUPER-​Special date here. We went for an introductory lesson and had a real great time. They’re extremely professional and know how to have fun.
The hour went by way too fast. Would definitely go again!

If you’re thinking of taking dance lessons, look no more. Best dance studio in thousand oaks. Fun atmosphere and great knowledge. Ballroom dancing, kids classes or just for fun.

My daughter and I decided to take dance lessons in April of 2013 she was a senior in high school and was going to prom and wanted to learn how to really dance and I had not really danced in decades. I looked around a bit tried a few places that gave low cost group lessons which were ok but not that great and almost gave up, but decided to give Arthur Murray a try. Well, its almost a year later and we are both hooked on dancing. It’s not cheap but you definitely get what your paying for! In addition to a great teaching staff a number of the members have been dancing for quite a while and are very helpful and supportive also. They have multiple group classes and practice parties during the week that are very helpful. I’ve gone from awkwardly standing watching others dance, to being very comfortable in most social dance settings, that I would have avoided less than a year before. It is well worth the time and money invested! I recommend the studio highly.

About three years ago, I searched the internet for Arthur Murray Dance studio & saw a coupon for a free introductory lesson. Since I started, I’ve seen a lot of great changes. Changes in management, dance programs & new studio décor. I absolutely love & enjoy the productive private lessons I get with my specialty dances or any request that I feel I need to work on. Members are friendly at all the studios. I would recommend for anyone looking into ballroom dancing to call the Arthur Murray Thousand Oaks studio & ask when the next guest open house is. You will be inspired & love dancing!

We have wanted to take dance lessons for years. Of all things, a groupon was the motivation that we needed to try two lessons. We have now had four lessons from the very knowledgeable, friendly and fun loving staff. We are having a blast! They do a great job of helping you begin with what you have and start making progress immediately. This is a good deal! I am not lying and no one paid me to say this. We intend to keep dancing and enjoying ourselves at Authur Murray. Come join us!

This place is a TOTAL RIP OFF! They should be ashamed of themselves. Since I went there, I’ve done some research and found out that Arthur Murray has had a reputation as a rip off for a number of years.
I had signed up for a package of private dance lessons and group lessons for about $ 500. However, they structure the group lessons to be terrible. You canl never get any where without the private lessons, which are incredibly expensive.
Then they structure the private lessons so you can’t learn anything. They try to teach you 3 – 4 types of dances per lesson. – way too many! Therefore, you can never master one type of dance. Even when you tell them that you only want to learn one dance per lesson, they somehow, won’t let you. So they deliberately keep you in a state of ignorance, so you need even more incredibly expensive private lessons!
But here’s one of the rip offs — they never gave me all of my private lessons that I had paid for! One day, my instructor told me that I didn’t have any private lessons left. I thought that was odd, because I thought I had about two — three left. Like an idiot I believed him. DUH!
Next he told me to go into the office to learn about the custom dance program he had designed for me. When I met with the person in the office, she explained to me that the new dance program was $ 2600!
This place would be so much smarter if they were honest and treated students fairly. I’m sure they would have much more business – which they are seriously lacking. So I guess most people aren’t as foolish as I was to take dance lessons with them.

Social fun, and learn to dance, two great things wrapped up in an Arthur Murray studio. Karen and Paul Hermanson have been teaching people how to dance for years, and still maintain their enthusiasm. They have a group of young fun teachers, and two dance parties each week as well as nightly dance classes. Come and try it out on Tuesday or Friday night.
