The location of this place is convenient for my commute bewteen Ventura and Thousand Oaks, so I’ve given them my business on several occasions. Honestly, I’m surprised by the(mostly) positive reviews. First of all, the tailoring is OUTRAGEOUSLYEXPENSIVE, at least a 50% mark-up on standard pricing. For example, on one occasion she charged me $ 30 to take in a straight skirt a couple of inches; and on another, FORTYDOLLARS to do a straight hem on a double-layered gown a few inches, which is double what several other women paid for the same dress in a wedding party I was in. The workmanship was fine, but I’m just not willing to pay 50−100% over market prices for uncomplicated tailoring. Honestly, I find the pricing offensive. Some of the other reviewers note this, as well. To compound the issue, their dry cleaning leaves a lot to be desired. I took in a plain white button-down men’s shirt for cleaning and it came back home with a huge black smudge on the front that wasn’t there when I took it in. I didn’t realize it until I unwrapped the shirt at home(it was buried in between other items), so I had to make a special trip back to have them get the stain out. On another occasion, a polyester dress came home with strong armpit odor – I question whether or not they even cleaned it. If not, their cleaning is ineffective on polyester fabric. At that point I decided not to bother going back. There are so many places that clean green, now, and that charge reasonable prices for tailoring. I will NOT be going back here.

I took a huge amount of dry leaning, some of which needed minor repairs, and everything came back perfect. The employees were very nice and the service was fairly quick. Will be returning.

This place was great! Fast and friendly service! Got my dress hemmed in less than a week! Plus if you visit their website and it’s your first time receiving service from them, they have a coupon you can use!

Reliable dry cleaner and super friendly service! I have been to this dry cleaner for the past 5 years and I LOVE the service. It is a family owned cleaner and all the services are done on premises. I love how fast the dry cleaning and alteration services are(within 1 day). All the staff are extremely friendly and accomodating. There is a family dog Rocky that loves to greet customers at the store. I also love that its proximity to Whole Foods, as I can easily go grocery shopping after drop off/pick up. Highly recommend!

Great job! Efficient, friendly, affordable, free sewing service. What they could improve is to offer a pick-up and delivery service in a certain area once or twice a week. A great way to improve their customer service and their business.

I’ve been using Alex the Tailor since there actually was an Alex… which was many, many years ago. I have always had what I consider fine service whether it is laundry, dry cleaning or even some complicated, delicate alterations. I have always been pleased with the results. They are fairly priced for the quality of service they provide and always pleasant and totally professional. The kind of service one looks for but rarely finds. The best!

Felt it was time to update my last review from 2011. Still great service. Reasonable prices. Quick alterations. Haven’t had anything they couldn’t fix or clean. Whether you are new to the area or a long time resident this is worth a visit. Some of the nicest and friendliest people you will ever meet. A real joy.

Found Alex the Tailor after shopping around quite a bit for a quality and affordable dry cleaner. We moved here from Chicago area and I had no idea where to get my husband’s shirts cleaned. They do a great job. Pricing is in line with other dry cleaners — California is extremely expensive for all dry cleaning due to state environmental laws. After discovering this, we adjusted our budget, but honestly these guys do a great job. Their work is on site, they can accommodate you the same day if you get there early, and they have been in a good mood every time I’ve gone there over the last 18 months. We have had clothes tailored here as well. Fine job. No complaints. Family run business. Wish they had dedicated parking but that’s out of their control. Bottom line — we trust them with our stuff. If hubby leaves travel money or receipts in his trousers and I don’t catch it before drop off, they have it for me in a plastic bag upon pick up. So glad we found them!

Very expensive. They charged $ 40 for a comforter and $ 11 for a thin sundress to get dry cleaned. I have had other clothes dry cleaned here in the past & have not been charged $ 11 for one item. They replied that this is a standard charge when I questioned it.

Love this place. It has a very classy feel. I’m short so I basically have to get everything hemmed. He does a great job and the prices is very reasonable. The staff is very professional.

Came here to get two dresses tailored for a wedding. We didn’t need much done for the dresses. One needed a single stitch in the center so that the cut wasn’t too low. The other needed a little bit of chiffon placed at the V-neck of the dress because the wearer was a little uncomfortable with too much skin around her chest showing(a «privacy shield»). We even provided the chiffon in the form of shalls that weren’t going to be otherwise used. We wanted to also convert the spaghetti straps to thicker straps, but the tailor said that wouldn’t work and suggested changing one of the shawls into a little wrap(with sleeves instead). $ 48 later…(which is WAYYY to expensive for what was done-basically a single stitch plus 3 rows of straight stiches), the chiffon ‘privacy shield’ was crooked and they refused to fix it. Also, after trying it on once the stitching holding the shield in is already falling off. So not only are they overpriced, but they cannot actually do the job right, and when its pointed out to them — they refuse to fix it. Would absolutely not recommend this tailor and I certainly won’t be returning.

I swore I had written a review for this before, but anyways best tailor in the area. I’m real particular with the way my jeans are hemmed and most places always screw up the first time when doing an original hem, but here they knew exactly how I wanted it and did it right the first time. I like how they measure both legs and get the lengths right. I only trust them to hem my jeans. They do a good job with my dry cleaning too.
