I’ve lived in the Colony for 15 yrs and have done a lot of business with David. I always thought that he was a fair and stand up guy but recently found out that this is not the case! Over 1 month ago I brought a pair of Cole Haan Wing Tip shoes to have heel guards put on them. By the way, I don’t wear cheap shoes… they hurt my feet and I sell Mercedes Benz for a living! I returned one week later to pick them up and David nor his helper could find my shoes??? He asked me to give him a few days… I came back one week later and he still couldn’t find my shoes… hmmm? I gave him another week and still no shoes??? He asked me to give him a few more days and if he couldn’t find them he would replace the shoes. I paid $ 209 for the shoes. I came back days later and he asked me to go ahead and buy the shoes and bring him the receipt. I did just that and brought the receipt to him on this past Thursday and he told me that he didn’t have his check book and asked me to come back on Friday. I then told him that I would have my wife to come by because I would not be in from work before he closed at 7 and he said okay. When my wife arrived to pick the check up David told her that he needed me to call him because he wanted to make some type of deal??? I called him and asked why he didn’t offer this deal to me not only before he asked me to go and buy shoes or on yesterday and he had no answer other than tell me that $ 162 was too much to pay for a shoe that I paid $ 209.I told him that I was sending her back and I expected to have the $ 162. When she returned he angrily wrote the check and told her that he no longer wanted to serve me as a customer and her either… WAIT A FRICKIN MINUTE!!! i’VE BOUGHT CUSTOM BOOTS, ALLIGATOR SHOES, BELTS ETC FROM THIS LUNATIC AND BECAUSE HE LOST MY SHOES IN HIS JUNKY UNORGANIZED DUMP OF A SHOP… HE HAS THE NERVE TO BE PISSED? I’VE REFERRED MY FRIENDS AND CLIENTS TO THIS SAME GUY!!! I’M THANKFUL THAT HE NO LONGER WANTS MY BUSINESS BECAUSE HE IS CERTAINLY NON-​DESERVING!!! AND AFTER SPEAKING TO OTHER CUSTOMERS THAT HE’S CUSSED OUT, MY SHOES ARE NOT THE FIRST THAT HE’S LOST AND I’M SURE NOT TO BE THE LAST… PLAESE TAKE A PIC OF HIM HOLDING YOUR SHOES IF YOU DO BUSINESS WITH TYHIS MAN!!! IJS!!!

So glad to have found Colony Cobblers. I concur with the other reviews. The owner, David Cortez, was very friendly, and did a great job on the shoes and belts I brought him. He had the work finished when he said he would, and charged a reasonable price. I’ve already brought more shoes to him, and I will definitely use Colony Cobblers in the future.

I needed to find a cobbler closer to my house, and after reading all the great reviews, I had to check this place out. They are extremely friendly and the work they do is amazing! I am definitely coming back and will be referring all of my friends to this place!

The prices are affordable & the quality of work is impeccable.

I have used this place for years and they’ve repaired several styles of ladies shoes and purses for me. This is a family owned business so I tend to always see the same couple of faces. The service is friendly, prices are reasonable and quality is spot on. The only thing I couldn’t get done here was replacing the little plastic/​rubber piece at the bottom of some stilettos.

We’ve lived in The Colony since 1977… I’ve been a patron of The Colony Cobblers for as long as they’ve been in business and have NEVER been disappointed. Some of the services David and his wife have performed for us (that I can recall) have been: repair of a leather bomber jacket tear, and replacement of the wrist material (for my husband); hemming leather jacket sleeves (for me), tens upon tens of hems of skirts, dresses, pants and jeans; replacement of a beloved leather hip purse waist strap; resoles for shoes; stretching shoes. I’m sure there are more. ALWAYS top notch quality. They go above and beyond and for the MOST reasonable prices. Highly recommend!

Have gone here twice to have dress shoes resoled. Managing a restaurant, the factory soles on dress shoes wear out within a month or two sometimes, TCC replaced them with hard rubber soles that were more comfortable than the originals and much more durable. Quality work on the gluing and stitching, too. Cost me about $ 30 a pair. They can do alterations and make custom cowboy boots, which I haven’t tried. This is what I love about The Colony, nice little unassuming mom and pop operation run by honest, hardworking people.

In moving to the area I needed a new cobbler. I was use to this particular store off Mockingbird in Dallas and was nervous about finding someone close to home that would rival in experience/​attention to detail. Well, I think I’ve found the one that, perhaps, if I ever move BACK to Dallas I’ll drive up to The Colony to use.
Small store front nestled back in an un-​used shopping center located on the corner of Paige and South Colony. If you drive toward the center of the long «L» shaped shopping center you will find this store on the right of the Dollar Store.
I first took five pairs of high heels that need the ends to be replaced and a few heels needed mending. I was impressed upon the return that not only did they replace the stoppers with high quality stoppers (slightly higher ones, too!) they matched the color of the stopper with the sole of the shoe (tan with tan and black with black) which I have NOT gotten done elsewhere. I also «tested» this location with a pair of my designer shoes that had a soft leather wrapped heel that I had unfortunately torn up. Not only did they wonderfully replace the stopper but corrected the leather they best they could to the point they look new again!
I was so pleased with their work that I took in a pair of good riding boots to have resoled and can’t wait to get those back.
All in all it cost roughly $ 30 for five pairs of shoes to be mended and the duo that runs the shop couldn’t be nicer. I had these five pairs ready in a week and was so pleased!

So glad Unilocalers helped me find this place. They are complete professionals and work wonders with leather. And other kinds of shoes. Took 3 pairs of the Giant’s shoes for resoling and came away with three pair of nearly new shoes!
Also discovered they custom-​make boots! OMG! Can’t wait to get my very own custom pair.

David is one of the few «real» cobblers left in this world. He knows his trade, repairing shoes and leather goods, manufacturing boots and fixing luggage, zippers and the like. His wife does a fine job on alterations for a reasonable price. Both deliver service with a smile. I have used Colony Cobblers many times for over 12 years — and continue to do so.
