History

Established in 1936.

Texas State Optical was established in 1936 when the Rogers family opened the first TSO office in Beaumont, Texas. Our founders planned for TSO’s continuous growth and expansion of services, but not without first building a foundation of patient care and quality products that stand the test of time. It became their vision to offer patients convenient locations, qualified Doctors of Optometry and a complete line of competitively priced eyewear that is fashionable and functional. These core values have remained unchanged throughout the years, especially at our Texas City location.

Today, the TSO family has grown to become a respected organization of doctor-​owned and operated eye care practices in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma.

Meet the Business Owner

Nelson J.

Business Owner

Dr. Nelson Juarez is an optometrist at Texas State Optical in Texas City. A native of Galveston, Dr. Juarez graduated from Galveston Ball High School. He went on to study at the University of Houston and graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry with a Doctor of Optometry degree in 2003.

Dr. Juarez has made Texas City his home and thinks it is very important for an eye doctor to live where he practices. He feels like a part of the community and is happy to raise his children alongside families of friends and patients.

Dr. Juarez is a therapeutic optometrist who can diagnose and treat many medical eye care conditions. He stresses the importance of an annual eye exam because many eye diseases are not detectable without a dilated eye exam. If an eye disease is detected early on, it is much easier to treat it. Eye disease treatment, like any disease, has a higher rate of successful treatment the earlier it is detected.
