Frank’s Heating & Air Conditioning

We signed up (and paid for) Frank’s yearly maintenance program which in addition to 2 yearly system checks, is supposed to give us priority scheduling of service calls. Called on Monday to asked for service call and was told that Thursday was earliest. Spoke to manager who told me that they did not have enough service personnel and that our call was not «critical». Called hoping to speak to owner, left message never called me back.

I just had someone from Frank’s drive by my house and throw trash from the window of his pickup truck into my yard. Not cool guys.

I just had Allan from Frank’s Heating come on a Saturday to install a new A/​C. Even though it was supposed to be two person job, he ended up having to do it all on his own. Very professionally done. Unit works great, wiring/​ducting was done very neatly. Thanks Allan!

I recently moved into Tewksbury in October of 2013. The house that I purchased was about 11 years old, and had two central air heat pump systems, one for the first floor and the other for the second floor. Over the course of the summer and winter both of these units broke, they were getting old, and had been poorly maintained by the previous owner.
I’ve had Frank’s Heating & Air Conditioning come out to my home three times now, each time to look at a different issue. Each time the tech comes out, is very knowledgeable, but like a true professional, also makes sure to call a backline person to discuss what he is seeing so they can both agree on what is the best path forward to resolve the issue. When they fix something, it stays fixed.
I feel lucky to have found Frank’s Heating Service — they’ve definitely earned my long term business going forward.

We have had them out for a few jobs so far, and will use them for all our heating and air conditioning issues that come up.
In early July during the heat wave our air conditioning unit was leaking. Jamie was fast and professional when I called to schedule an appointment. They came out the next day and I have found that they always come in below any other quote I’ve gotten on a job.

I’m very skeptic when it comes to servicing air, electrical & plumbing equipment. I do feel they did a good job.

Everything started off ok with my install; they showed up (a little late, 9:15am), and got right to work. The price for install was for a high efficiency (97%AFUE) and a central a/​c. They used a Carrier brand unit that was a pricier option but offered higher rebates and higher efficiency.
On the plus side the install took exactly as long as the said: 3 days. On the minus side, they didn’t actually say that meant 3 days with no heat during a November cold snap (35 degrees as night). Also, The third day was only needed for the plumber to hook up a 6 inch piece of pipe; it was a poorly planned delay.
The problem I have with Frank’s is that it seems that they have very poor communication between themselves, as well as with the customer. Sales doesn’t know what the install team is doing and they don’t know what the electrician is doing and vice versa. It’s every team for themselves! If you ask questions, and it’s not their domain, they can only answer «I don’t know.»
They never told me what time they’d be returning and they left a pile of scrap in my garage which they later returned for the following week, but never told me ahead of time when they’d be back (luckily a neighbor let them in for me).
Be weary of quotes for rebates, the number is slightly inflated because it includes things you’ll get back on your taxes.
The install looks clean and neat. They don’t give demonstration or explanation of how anything works. They didn’t give me a manual for the new thermostat (which is complex) but I downloaded it off of the manufacturer’s website.
As for email and questions, they are stuck in the 90s and don’t pay much attention to email questions. Responses take days, if at all. The price was right, but I guess you get what you pay for in this case. I’m hoping I won’t need to call them again for any service.
