I have very little nice to say about my experience attempting to rent a property from this agency.
The nice — when we first viewed the properties, the receptionist or whoever was on site that day to loan out the keys was incredibly pleasant and easy to work with.
From there, it went downhill. The property was priced incorrectly and they refused to budge on it. They refused to even call the property owner to see what the deal was, or if they would be willing to adjust it.
When we decided we loved the property and wanted to rent it, regardless of the rate discrepancy, we were treated like common criminals upon turning in our applications. Our household income was MORE than the required amount (not to mention twice the average in this town) and the rental manager, honest-​to-​God, said «This is IT??» when we turned the applications in and she looked at our income. She also told us we’d be required to show pay stubs, which I have NEVER had to do anywhere I’ve rented before.
I was so irritated about the whole thing that I later called and asked for our applications and fee to be set aside and we’d come pick them up and withdraw from the process. I didn’t get so much as a call back.
So we went a block up the street, found a very nice property (nicer than the one at Newlin-​Johnson) at a lower rate, and were treated with utmost respect and kindness.
I still need to go back and argue about the application fee… I’m sure I won’t get it back, for the way we were treated in general
