Dutch-Maid Bakery

Ordered a birthday cake from the Fairgrounds Market store last weekend. It was beautifully decorated, delicious, and fresh. Great bakery.

The bakery here does donuts, cookies (and similar treats) as well as cakes. They also run a stall at the Reading fairgrounds farmer’s market. I got an assortment of donuts from the main store (next to the Temple post office), which were merely average. The selection (at least at the store) was below average, but that may have been because I went late in the morning on a Saturday (i.e. around 11 AM). The lady behind the counter was not rude, but also not friendly. They take credit cards, but there is a $ 5 dollar minimum. The store itself is fairly dilapidated, for instance the drop ceiling is falling in with dark brown stains in places. (Drop ceiling tile is cheap and easily replaced, so letting this go seems careless and makes one worry about cleanness issues elsewhere). Overall, I don’t plan to go back.
